Cool. Any idea why there's a smudgy look around lights? i.e. the reflection in your glasses and the ceiling lights of stores. Also, how wide is the lens compared to, say, a smartphone's front facing camera?
Could have been the smudge I got on it or the lighting or both.
love your channel
Omg I found you! I'm so surprised!
Wow, $200 bucks sounds like a steal. As for sound, with my Sony A6000 I had the wind noise reduction set to on and when I turned it off it was like night and day better.
It looked like the camera had image stabilization unless you did it in post editing? Nice review.
It has a little bit but I did use some warp stabilization on the talking head parts but not on the parts shot in the real world.
Roberto Blake Thank you
yay! Thanks so much for this review.
I met him today at Vloggerfair and I can attest. The few minutes I spent with it I was very impressed with this camera.
+Melissa and Alex thanks, it's great for the price!!!
I have the older model now from 4 years ago , but I'm ready to upgrade
thanks... for your information.
Them Flavs/Uptowns/Airs/Air Force Ones/AF1's (depending on where you're from lol) are CRISPY PLAYA! SO CLEAN!!! I see you! :D
Came here after seeing a comment you left on a Ask Gary Vee episode. Just sub'd. Great stuff.
+Unspoken Thoughts thanks!
I'm waiting for the panasonic LX15. That one will be my next vlogging camera
Did you apply a warp stabilizer to any of the footage? It seems very floaty like it's image stabilized. Also, I find that for the money this camera is absolutely awesome but a few things I noticed that I didn't like is the lack of contrast and saturation in the recording, a lot of this can be restored in post processing but it just looks washed out compared to some other cameras I've used like the Canon Powershots and the Sony's. Also, the autofocus seems to be all over the place constantly changing and shifting when the camera moves and it's mostly noticeable in the background. The audio quality isn't half bad, I bet if you added just a little bass to it in post it would sound comparable to like an iPhone microphone. But honestly, for the money, it seems like a great camera for vlogging.
If you're going to start a CZcams channel just start with your cell phone and work your way up.
+Barnacules Nerdgasm a little on the talking head stuff but none of the other footage. In the field the in camera stabilization, color and zoom is better.
Thanks for posting this, Roberto. Having a display screen that flips around is so important for vlogging. Good to know there is this affordable option! ~Glory
Yep for the price you can't beat it!
Yesss I'm getting it next month.
Hi Roberto. It looks like your lens is perpetually smudged with something oily. Either that, or there is a coating mistake from Panasonics factories. Get some appropriate whipes for camera lenses and see if those light smudges and foggines doesn't go away. If not, I recommend you send it in for repair, because it is only going to get worse if the coating is at fault
That's what I was thinking. If this were the quality of the camera I'd rather not want to have it, but I assume the lense is smudged.
Turns out it was which I didn't notice beforehand
your new vlogging camera looks bless!!!!
Thanks.
I'm going to try my hand at vlogging one day, great video!
If you're getting started this is a good camera for it.
I have to build up some courage first but I will use your link when I convince myself I will be fine, lol.
You don't have to post your first video on CZcams. Just practice recording and post one that you think you'd watch.
Great suggestion!
they jacked the price up over $300! wow
To be honest, the new iPhone with proper lighting will do just fine to start. However, I use a Canon 80D with an 11mm-16mm zoom and a 24mm-70mm zoom.
Hi Roberto. Awesome vid, seriously considering this camera. One question: does the flip up screen feel solid or does it feel like it can break easily?
Thanks for another great review Roberto! I must say I wasn't a really big fan of the sound quality or the glare it seemed to either pick up or cause. I've been using my Hero 4 and now 5 Black and it seems to be working really well but I will definitely check out some of your suggestions. Thanks again👍🏾🙏🏾
Wow! Merry thanksgiving to me, lol! This is cool! I almost got the canon t3i, but I'm glad I didn't! I will be buying this using your link . Sweet !
thanks dude this video helped heaps
I have my Nikon Coolpix S9900 and is good enough for my needs.
Awesome
That's the camera I use! I started my channel 4 months ago
Nice, how do you like it?
I bought a refurbished version from amazon and I only paid $70. The sound quality is a bit trash but aside from that, it has all the great features you mentioned. Sometimes I remote shoot using the app that comes with the camera. That's something that really comes in handy
Looks like a good starter for sure. I'd like to have heard some of the audio where you overlaid music...
The entire video was shot with the camera so that represents the audio quality.
Oh, for sure, I hope I didn't come across as accusatory! I just meant I'd like to hear the outdoors with that wind reduction feature like you were saying. My bad. Stoked to see you this weekend!!
Could you perhaps somehow get a better microphone for this camera? I would like to get it, but I would prefer slightly better sound quality.
Great video..I just need something a step up from my phone..
I just grabbed the Sony rx100iv.
on your recommendation. looking to increase the quality of my channel.
that's one of the best out there.
yeah man its wonderful thanks !
The Sony sensors are amazing, I shoot an FDR-AX33 and AX53 as my vlogging cameras (little bigger than most people like but love the features). The reason I didn't pick up an RX100IV is because the battery life is terrible and you can only record 4k for 5 seconds and I record absolutely everything these days in 4k since CZcams is really pushing it.
Barnacules Nerdgasm why only 5 seconds? memory card limits?
Nice informative video, Roberto! what's the price point of the Sony RX 100?
Almost $1000 for the latest model, 5x the cost of the camera he is reviewing.
... However, you can find 3X 100 3's for like ~$600 used and they are very similar just have slower focus (still good though) and no 4k support.
We're using two Panasonic HC-V160 camcorders. Nothing too fancy, but they definetely do the job. We do need to invest in lighting or a softbox, because that would really improve our video quality. Got any budget suggestions?
I got a link to the lights I use in the description from Square Perfect.
Thanks I'll look into it!
The best vlogging camera.. so debatable when everyone prefers different cameras. Low light cameras are incredible though! The new iPhone seems legit.
Best budget vlogging camera as in value for lowest price. Better stabilization than iPhone believe or not and color quality.
Love your show always !
Just a quick question.
Which GPU would u recommend for 4K video editing?
Quadro M2000M (Lenovo P50) or GTX 1080 (Razor Blade Pro)?
Personally I would get the Razor Blade
Are you going to show anything for the Holiday Sales?
Is there a significant advantage to using this over an iPhone? (other than zoom?)
cutthenoise don't use an iPhone for vlogging unless it's the 7. iPhone cameras are very zoomed in and aren't stable and very shaky.
Hi mate, loving the channel, you make things really clear and I like the fact you seem genuine and honest. Also it seems you cover a lot of what people on CZcams need help with in your videos.. I have a question was going to pm but can't from my phone.. Could you give me an estimate of how many views/subs you would need to just make a standard small income off youtube.. say £1-1500 a month. Not just from Adsense... using sponsors, affiliate marketing maybe your own t shirts etc.. Also check out Ko-fi if you don't know of it. Pretty simple cool way of getting donations for your channel. Peace bro, thanks for the great advice. Best CZcams advice channel I've come across 👍🏼
I do love doing CZcams. But I also really want to have it as my job/income.
Wow - quality is amazing! X
For the Price yep
What's going on Roberto I have a question for you I would like to start making money online and eventually doing it has a full time job how do I start would you suggest starting with Amazon affiliate or godaddy
I have been looking for a second camera for my channel to get multiple angles on things. do you think this camera would match my video quality I currently have on my channel??
The best
Would this be a good upgrade from my dmc-sz10? it costed me $300 when i brought it and this is $300 where i live but is it a decent upgrade from my sz10?
I have this camera but it gives me a super shitting white noise when recording. Does yours do that too? I am not sure if its my recording settings or the camera itself causing it.
I’m thinking of getting this for travel purposes? Is it recommended ?
It’s outdated now. You can get some really good new cameras used from Sony and Canon tho
Cool
Do you prefer cameras over handycams?
+RNA MUSIC yes
Roberto Blake is there a specified c reason? I've had great results from a Panasonic HDC - SDX1 and a JVC before that, pros and cons on handy vs regular cam? Thank you for your answer and time!
What's your thoughts on the GH 4?
+Web Fam 4ever! It did really well when I used it at CZcams. I can't wait for the GH5
I have the D7100 Nikon camera
And after shooting i see a red points
I checked the manual and nothing mentions that
I want to remove them
Do you know how?
,Would appreciate your help
:)
+jk send it to have its sensor cleaned
should I stick with my note 5 for now
QuinnLIFTS stuck to a phone, recording with a note 5 can lead to some risk, such as some one stealing it from you if you use it in public. So I would suggest sticking to a phone for now till you get money for a canon if possible
$290 on Amazon. Thought it was 200??
what level are you on Pokemon Go?
I'm level 27 right now. I got 126 Pokemon in my Pokedex captured.
That's awesome! Good luck man. I am at 21
Would you get this over the Sony a5100?
+Stephanie Graham I'm not sure but this one is cheaper
is that camera good enough for making youtube videos ?
Yes I made this video completely with the camera
Hey Roberto, did you have edit out much audio noise from your recording playback? I just got this camera and was testing it out today and the bad audio feedback/static was a bit too much. I don't notice it in yours (sounds pretty good), so I was wondering if you did much editing to the audio or the camera I received just has bad audio. Thanks in advance man.
the sound isn't great, apart from that I liked it.
video quality on fleek
So I'm late to the party, but picked up one of these so I could stop filming on my Samsung S3!
Someone asked me if i wanted to join the community "viewtubers" but i dont trust it , shoulld i join it?
prob not
dope
+E J it's been doing a fantastic job
blurry screen or dirty?
micael2222 Probably grainy because of low light. It doesn't seem sharp in indoor scenes. It probably doesn't have a sensor as good in low light as the RX100 or G7x.
Grain, sensor is not as good and aperture is not as open as the more expensive cameras. It's great for the price!
Maybe good for the price, but it's not any better than just using my phone, so not really so good for any price.
Actually I tested that theory and stabilization, Zoom and color are all better
Interesting. Maybe do a video with side-by-side? Stabilization isn't something I'd considered.
the quality is not that good for 240$, for this quality better to record with a modern phone in my opinion
Tested against the phone, camera has better stabilization and is more convenient to take risk with than a phone
If you drop an iPhone in water, or set it up on a park bench to get a cool shot and something goes wrong... that a disaster... think about it...
I don't disagree, I just mentioned the quality, which in some countries 240 isn't really cheap xD but well a smartphone that records better will cost more so rip my opinion xD
ALMOST PERFECT. IT NEEDS A MICROPHONE JACK
I use the Canon HF R70 (check out my channel to get a glimpse of the quality though I'm just getting the hang of it). It's $270 and it's a camcorder. I use two LimosStudio lights since my camera doesn't have a big sensor. I'm just starting to get the hang of it. Beyond that, I use an older Rhode VideoMic, with an extension cord, and a boom stand. I don't record audio separately. What I like about the HF R70 is that I can manually control the audio, and use an external mic. Pretty good setup for me right now. At some point I will get a DSLR.
I have that camcorder too for speaking gigs but for day to day this more convenient
