Thank you I had private contractor tell me I had to replace tub and shower to so for the same leak you had he quoted me $3500. I spent around $25.00 dollars ! Thank you for being so Detailed while explaining. Did take me a minute as well to get that pin back in! My wife was proud! She was so proud she I could take her out to dinner, still haven’t figured that logic out yet 😂😂! Thank you again!
As I’m sick of watching always terrible news on TV I cut the cable and now feel fulfilled watching, learning and fixing my own problems on CZcams. I’m my own handywoman.
Favorite part of this video is the mention that Moen has a lifetime guarantee. I asked at my local ACE Hardware and they honored it. Fixed the faucet in less than 30 minutes with zero expense. THANK YOU!!!
Thank-you tons, Kim! I've watched several videos made by professional plumbers on this particular task and yours is the best! It takes a woman! I'm a 63 year-old daughter of parents who, because of me, are able to live in their own home still. Among my responsibilities for their well-being I am also responsible for their home's maintenance. I can do this!
Oh! I forgot to add. You really should do more videos on "How to do" repairs around the house! You'll be the next youtube sensation! seriously! The way you explain is the best I have seen so far. Great job!
Totally agree!! I watched 4 other videos and they all glossed over a bunch of important details that she was careful to include. Thank you so much for this very helpful tutorial.
Dang, if all my teachers would of explain things as clear as you, I would of had all A's in high school & college. I'm a visual learner so this was very helpful 🙋🏾♂️👍🏾
This the best video for fixing leaky bathtub faucet leak that I've seen. She explains a lot more and doesn't waste time. I didn't know that some mfg give lifetime replacement....Ive replaced bathtub and sink faucets before. Learned from CZcams!
Thanks. I'm a 67 year old woman and your video taught me what I needed to know to replace my cartridge and fix my leak. The hardest part was finding the right cartridge for my old faucet. Even the local plumbing specialty store didn't carry it, but they printed out the info so I could order it on-line. The part cost me $5.85 plus $13 to get it shipped to me in Hawaii. My cartridge didn't have any kind of clip or pin, and the only tool I needed was my Phillips screwdriver. I was so happy I didn't have to call a plumber, and maybe even open a wall to change everything. And it was exhilarating to turn the water back on (you need to shut it off first) and not have the leak anymore.
I know this video is old, but the information is rock solid. Thank you, this video saved me hundreds of dollars. I did the repairs yesterday and it worked. My only mistake was the incorrect rotation of the cartridge. The leak stopped completely but I had no hot water. However, a simple rotation of the cartridge (to the left) using that stupid indispensable plastic tool, and my hot water returned.
I don't usually comment but I just want to thank you for this detailed video. My husband and I went to Home Depot and got the 1225 cartridge like you said and it fit like a charm. The plastic piece comes in handy and we are definitely going to save it with our plumbing bin. Continue to make more amazing videos!
I just watched your video from 10 yrs ago and it was exactly what I needed. Thank you. You are so right when it comes to offspring. Maybe one day they'll realize we didn't get through life not learning anything.
Thank you so much for this! None of the professional plumbers videos or articles mentioned the Moen plastic piece. It takes a mother. Bless you and your house.
One of the best diy videos on CZcams. I needed a different Moen valve than the one featured but the procedure was exactly the same. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I just used this video to fix a leaky shower faucet. Took about 15 minutes. She explains everything very thoroughly with lots of helpful tips. Great job!!!
I just had a quote from a local Cleveland plumber on1/23, using MY purchased tub faucet Moen system for $800. Easy access to my CPVC piping in the back. We have a leak on our kitchen ceiling. Looks like the cartridge is what has caused the leak, also our spout does have water coming out when we pull the shower lever up. So I just figured to do 100% replacement. Thanks for showing how to. B4 youtube I did most repairs using Time Life books.
Thank you so much for this!! Another BOSS mom here who, thanks to you and this video, replaced the cartridge and saved several hundred dollars in plumbing repairs. 💪🏻❤️🤩
What a great video. I watched a plumber's video and he made it seem complicated while you made it seem like something I could do. I felt really confident after watching and the job went so smoothly thanks to you. It cost me just under $20 for the cartridge and a few minutes of my time compared to what a plumber would have cost. Thanks for posting this great video.
I have the same issue with my shower and I been putting mine off because I feel the same way, I’m a little hesitant to pay a plumber to come and fix it, but you’re video just gave me confidence to do it myself. I’m going to the hardware store tomorrow. Thanks a lot you’re awesome!
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm so sick of my shower dripping. Hopefully I can do this on my own. I fixed my garbage disposal, so I sure I can do this as well. Thanks again, I admire women like you!
You are a life saver, I need to replace two cartridges had several, people including looking on line and NO ONE ESPLANADE, AND TOLD THE WHOLE TRUTH PLUMMER VIDEOS NOT HELPING. I'LL SUPORT YOU WITH AND DO IT YOUR SELF PROPERTYS YOU DO. BECAUSE I AM GOING TO BUT ONE USE THE PART TO REMOVE IT ON BOTH THEN,TAKE T HRM BOTH IN ALONG WITH REQUESTING REFUND FOR THE FIRST ONE 😀 YOUR GREAT YOUR REAL AND NOT AFRAID TO SHOW IT OFF YOUVE SAVED ME ATLEAST 60 - 70 $ PLUS STRESS OF A PLUMMER WOOO HOOO YOU ROCK
Nice job...! One useful tip....; always cover the drainage hole with a cloth or something when removing small parts and screws...! If it falls to the ground it will disappear down the hole. And lay a towel or mat in the bath or on the tiles incase you drop something heavy so it won't chip or damage the refined surfaces.
You know you've picked a good woman when she not only does home repair but also passes on calling a plumber for some sucky-fucky behind your back while you're at work.
You are a rock star, I was able to change this myself and fix a shower that has leaked for a few years, wouldn't have known how to do this without this video!
I am happy that I located this video. There were others that just didn't help me for the situation I faced, but these instructions saved me from hiring someone else Great work!
Just want to say I relied on your video the most in fixing my leaky shower faucet. I had exactly the same Moen cartridge, but I went and bought a cartridge remover, so I was able to take advantage of the free cartridge replacement. The cartridge remover was about $13 with tax. I also had to peek into the cartridge shaft when re-inserting the locking pin in. Once I saw what was happening, your description made perfect sense. Thanks for the great video and instructions!
Thanks for allowing me to keep $200 in my pocket for something so simple. This is great video to watch for a leak in the shower. I purchased both cartridges 1222 & 1225 because I was unsure. But I was able to easily figure the difference. I truly appreciate you!!!!
Thanks for the video with the detail step by step instructions. My teenage son replaced the cartridge with a little help from me to resolve water leaking issue at his bathroom.
You rock! Mine was exactly like yours and I was able to get the parts and have it fixed at first attempt! Please make more videos on how to... I feel so accomplished! Thank you!
The first time I had a leak, replacing the knob itself fixed it. This is the 3rd time I've had a leak, and this one wasn't fixed by changing out the knobs. Had no idea about needing a new cartridge, so I will definitely try this. Thanks for posting! ETA I have now replaced my cartridge that cost $20 at Lowe's and no more drip. Thanks again! Never would have figured it out without your help! Oh, and you don't need that plastic piece to take out the old cartridge. I used pliers and a bit of elbow grease! :) The plastic piece helps you rotate the new cartidge so you can put in that little horseshoe piece that locks it in place.
Greatly helpful. I thought the water supply should be turned off before starting this project and other plumber videos didn't mention it so I was so glad I went on to watch your video. Keep up your thorough explanations.
Great video Mom! You did an amazing job breaking down the steps in a meaningful engaging way. I knocked this out last night with no problem. Many plumbers may know how to do the job effectively, but some lack the "how to install tutorial mindset." You would be a great teacher😊 p.s. It might be a good idea to lay a face/hand towel over your drain just in case…Excellent job though!!!
Thank you, you saved my money. my cartridge has been in there since 1996. this is the first time I have to mess with it. Cartridge puller did help me with your clip.
OMG! I did not know how to remove mine until I came across your video. Many thanks to you. I was about to call a plumber. Now, I am going to get it done tomorrow. Thanks again! Great video!
this is why I love when regular people figure this stuff out. I'm a plumber and what she just did cost her about $45. Now if you were to call me to do it your looking at around $300. Now being a plumber, things like this are at the bottom of the list of things to do for the day simply because there are more important calls I have to go to. the only thing that I saw wrong is, that plastic piece she used to turn the cartridge is really used to set the new one in place, you can use channel locks to pull the old one out or go to home depot and down about $20 to get a cartridge puller. I just use channel locks myself but there are times if the old cartridge is stuck then I'll use the puller, you just get a feel for it.
Yes this is an easy task. I am not a plumber. I bought the puller and replaced all three cartridges in about 40 minutes. Including disassembly and reassembly
@@GG-tt3sg Not to mention things get corroded and practically welded together after 20 years or so, and though it just comes right out in the video you have to use a lot of strength to get it apart, and all it takes is breaking off a pipe or something like that, and you will wish you had just gotten a plumber.
Great job! My two showers are leaking now. I will fix them by myself after watching this video. Thanks so much for sharing your experience that saves a lot of watchers' $$$$
Great ! Thank you "mom" ..... everything you said was perfect to allow me to fix my two showers. I was driving myself crazy .... and here, we have this lovely person explaining how to fix these problems. Yay! I am truly grateful to you.
Of all of the videos I watched for this project this was the most helpful. I also had a 1225 and mine was stuck so bad that the little plastic piece didn't help. I had to take two screwdrivers and use one on each side of the cartridge to loosen it enough to be able to pull it out. Well Done and Thank You!
Excellent video. Very clear instructions. This did the job for me... that is, it showed me that I don't have the patience anymore to perform this repair. I'm calling a plumber. Seriously, you saved me a bunch of frustration. (by the way, I put masking tape over an opening like the floor drain so that nothing goes in there by mistake)
Thank you for the video. Very informative, down to earth, and easy to follow along. Very much appreciated. I have watched several videos on this, and your is the most friendly and straight-forward. I feel more confident to try on my own now. Awesome.
I watched several videos............only thing I had some vinegar and soaked my nasty faucet guts while I replaced mine. Thanks for your attempt to do this. I cleaned my parts up and it looks brand new. My faucet is very old and soon I will have to have the plumber and replace it all but for now and under $7 I fixed it.
Wonderful job! You really showed us someting the plumbers don't want you to know so they can charge you a bundle! Great job and thanks.....I did exactly as you showed in the video...AND IT WORKED! Thank you!
I, like you, reviewed instructions online from plumbers. I think they do it so often that they forget the little things. I found your video VERY helpful and was able to replace mine without a hitch. It was helpful to hear you say the cartridge number (1225) or I would not have known what to buy. Thank you so much for posting this video!
-Many thanks for your video. I watched a few prior to yours and even though they were good, you went into more details, step by step with a specific explanation, I was able to repair my own tub faucet so thanks again.
Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to do it myself. I did exactly as you instructed and was able to fix my leaky tub faucet. It is the same handle as your shower but has a knob on the top of the water spout that you'd pull up to turn on the shower. In fact, while fixing the valve I rewatched the video and used it for a step by step guide. I too watched several other videos on You Tube, but yours convinced me that I could accomplish it. From one mom to another, thanks again!!!!
Thank you. Great Video! Your instructions made this job super easy to replace my Moen cartridge. I called Moen as you suggested they sent a new cartridge within 5 days for free.
@@reciamontgomery4555 you should have a main water shut off valve somewhere in your house. If you have a basement it's probably there. It shuts the water off from the connection to the water line from the street.
I watched a couple of other videos and decided I wouldn't be able to do this and would need to call a plumber. Then I watched yours and you made it look so simple I decided to give it a try. I went to Home Hardware (Canada) and the cartridge was free. They said it was a warranty part. I played your video as I followed step by step and had it fixed and working perfectly in a few minutes. Thank you so much for an excellent video!
I realize it's been a couple years but still wanted to thank you for the video. In particular, and probably important for all viewers like me, the last moments of your video answered a critical question about my own Moen shower valve - you PULLED and PUSHED your handle to turn the water on - mine (about 27 years old) only rotates to turn water on/off and adjust temperature. This strongly suggests the cartridge I need is NOT the 1225; since the main other cartridge is the 1222 (or 1222B) I can readily read the packaging BEFORE buying the rather-expensive cartridge and get much closer to figuring this out correctly.
She's talking about her housekeeping skills like they're bad..yet I don't see a single speck of soap scum on that glass door and those things are a PAIN to clean if you don't keep up with it. So in my opinion, her housekeeping skills are top notch.
ok. Here I go. 66 yo woman, post covid plumbers are booked till June. Got the picture of the piece from the upstairs neighbor, Homedepot found it from the picture and off I go. Thanks for not putting on music! you are the best. nice and clear. thumbs up. Hint I got from another vid, put an old towel over the drain and make really sure you drop the pin behind the wall. 👩🏼🦳
This was a great video? Very good explanation and straight to the point. You got me through it. I should have watched your video first! Shout out to my local Ace Hardware for having the Moen cartridge...I got the last one on the shelf.
Great video!! Very detailed. Don't mean to be putting down the men, but women do the best job of explaining how to do things. One of the videos didn't even tell you to turn off the water. Thank you for making this video. It was very helpful and well done!
Thank you!! I am going to do this, after watching you twice and two other videos. You covered all the little extra things the others left out. Feeling confident, now to buy the cartridge and gather tools.😃
This video helped me complete the project. Being a guy a quick listen and I think I have it down, but I didn't there were a couple small complications which this video covered it I would have listened to the end!
Ms lady. Was looking up leaking faucet on yt.and yours was the same as mine. Older than most. You saved some money for me. Thank you so much for your video 📸. Wouldn't even know about the lol plastic part. .your awesome 😎
Thank you I had private contractor tell me I had to replace tub and shower to so for the same leak you had he quoted me $3500. I spent around $25.00 dollars ! Thank you for being so

I was thinking the exact same thing. lol.
Lol same 🤣😂😅
Women take the time to explain things in more detail!

Excellent DIY video. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! You're a rockstar! Thanks to your help, you saved me stress and money.
So awesome! I am a mom as well. Your video helped immensely! Saved me a hole in a wall and a lot of money!!!
Thank you for your video. I think I have the same DIY repair coming up soon and I'm taking notes from as many demonstrations as I can.
Thanks for posting this video, it was super helpful. I followed your instructions and everything went perfectly.
Great job! I’m about to fix mine and I’m so glad I found this video!
Great job! Lay a hand towel over the drain in case you drop a small part
-Many thanks for your video. I watched a few prior to yours and even though they were good, you went into more details, step by step with a specific explanation, I was able to repair my own tub faucet so thanks again.
Her descriptive words are really good.
Just wanted to let you know that because of your video, I fixed my first shower leak!! I don't mind plumbing, but thank God for CZcams!
Thank you! Now I have the confidence to fix my shower.
This was so good - Thank You!! The details you covered and what you showed helped where some of the others weren't!!!
I did mine thanks to your video💪🏽. Cost less than $16!! You are amazing! Appreciate this & thank you 🙂
Thank you. Great Video! Your instructions made this job super easy to replace my Moen cartridge. I called Moen as you suggested they sent a new cartridge within 5 days for free.
Well done, your video helped me. Although my cartridge was stuck, had to resort to other measures, but fixed it! Thanks Mom
Where to shut off water to shower
Just what were the other measures you took? Mine will not come out.
Di Garci people get up and be
@@reciamontgomery4555 you should have a main water shut off valve somewhere in your house.
Really happy to hear that! I love Home Hardware - my first hardware store go-to when visiting and helping my mom with her DIY's.
Great Video and Extremely helpful!! Thank you for all the detail
I broke one this yesterday, cause I didn't know how to turn on ,and I saw your video u save a brainstorm, thkz god bless you
This was a great video? Very good explanation and straight to the point. You got me through it. I should have watched your video first! Shout out to my local Ace Hardware for having the Moen cartridge...I got the last one on the shelf.
Great video. Thanks for all the details! These are points I would miss.
Your video told us exactly what we needed. Thanks!!!
Excellent guide to repairing the shower. Highly recommend.
I did it!!! So so easy!! Thanks Mom!!!
So glad it worked for you! Thanks for letting me know.
Good job! My wife is getting our shower fixed today by complaining to me for the last 3 months about it leaking!
Thanks, Your video is better than the plumber's videos I watched.
This video helped me complete the project. Being a guy a quick listen and I think I have it down, but I didn't there were a couple small complications which this video covered it I would have listened to the end!
I second Manuel's comments, thanks for the encouragement. I did it, THANKS to you.
Ms lady. Was looking up leaking faucet on yt.and yours was the same as mine. Older than most. You saved some money for me. Thank you so much for your video 📸. Wouldn't even know about the lol plastic part. .your awesome 😎
