Beczala has a voice of great beauty and power. He is also a good actor.I think he is a thoughrouly excellent opera tenor, perhaps the best at this moment !!!
In my opinion, Piotr Beczala did a very good Duke. Unfortunately I couldn't see him on the Metropolitan of NY, but I recorded the entire opera by the Syrius Radio, and we can feel the emotion of the audience after the most know arias. I adore Beczala, that is it!
Superb. He sings like Jussi Bjorling and Fritz Wunderlich, except with more weight in the sound, like Pavarotti in the early 70's. Also, the focus is superb. The voice, however, does lack agility, but he'll improve with age.
I like Beczala a lot and I think that in today's opera market he is one of the best, however, I agree with Patrick about Beczala's lack of agility, and also I am not that crazy about his phrasing and clarity. At some moments he sounds for me as if he was rushing and just wanted to get over with it. I really like Kraus version of this aria, so thoughtful, relaxed and beautifully executed.
@@ralphzamoyski2807 I think Kraus and Björling are the best Duca de Mantova. For Queste e quella I suggest you listen to Joseph Schmidt, I got siderated.
Of course Beczala has been around for a little while now, and has not (yet) fallen prey to the frequent cancellations and vocal surgeries practiced by the other currently popular tenors. I guess we'll see if this technique serves him or hurts him.

One of the worse and careless diction I have ever heard. His "voice" keeps going back down his throat. Kraus, Schipa, Bjorling....he just pissed on decades of Opera. I understand that at the present time there is not that much around in matter of tenors, but the audience should refuse (As they used to do years ago) to listen to certain people barking. In this way EMI and Co. would be less anxious to rush people on the stage even if they are clearly not ready.
+giorgos Schipa had a technique that would easily rival 2000000 of these dogs put together. I realise he belongs to another era, and therefore he might not meet the approval of our tastes: but he had studied all his life how to sing properly: mezza voce, filature, unknown to Beczala.
+Mr. M. Wow, do you know something about vocal technique? I don't think so, listen to head res, there is no throat action going on there. People like you should know that they are talking about matters they know nothing about. Haha, how sad.
are you listening to the same music that the rest of us are! His diminuendo at the end of the first verse was not barking. The recording is a very loud and unedited which doesn't mean he is barking. As a professional opera singer this is such an annoying comment because this is one of the best alive and to just say stupid things is diminishing all the hard work and dedication it takes to get to this stage.
eh, he is definately singing too open and is not really covering well at all.i predict he will continue to decline unfotunately unless he gets some good teaching quick.

This tenor is incredible. Nowadays he is one of the best tenors. He is young and handsome. A great artist.
Bravo attore, bravissimo cantante e la dizione è a dir poco perfetta! 👏💕
Bravo, Piotr!!!
.....bravissimo Piotr
Bellissima voce e pronuncia perfetta
- ottima interpretazione
Rewelacyjnie zaśpiewane!!!
This guy is a very good duca. Glad to find a solid, up-and-coming tenor.
You know what? We're mostly speaking in the realm of opinion. So here's mine: BECZALA IS BRILLIANT.
super !!!

One of the greatest Tenors of our time!
Piękny, wyjątkowo mocny głos; moim zdaniem bardzo podobny do głosu Luciana Pavarottiego. GRATULACJE!
Bravo!

agreed, though his steady mid range makes me think he muscled because of nervous energy rather than technique issues. All in all a solid performance.
Piotreku sto lat !

I like attacking the high notes with good mordant, round and good bellows! aristocratico! I come to Bjorling ..... schipa! interesting tenor! Mind
Tout à fait d'accord.
I like him!
Cynical, manly, shiny : gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood !

No, he won't. Agility goes with light and young voices.

For sure.
Thanks for posting this! When and where was this performance? Who's Rigoletto and who's Gilda/
Leo Nucci is Rigoletto. Elena Mosuc is Gilda.
I've got the CD of this version 🎶
yes , indeed .
Pięknie lepiej niż Roberto Alagna
time of Villazon and Alagna is OVER!!!
bet cha!!!!
Red Afrodiziac I hope not. Both these singers have had struggles with voice, but I still like them both. Especially Villazon.
his main teacher is Dale Fundling in Salzburg
Not Pavarotti but really good!!!
Pavaroti is a mosquito freak
@@Monnarchmonnarchy do you like this tenor then?

but isn't Mr. Fundling a coach and not a teacher? Just asking. Danke.

@Lovelytenor1 Corelli opens a huge mouth in the acuti. Pavarotti's not completely right. What works for him doesn't neccesarily work for others.
Sounds like Carreras but Carreras mid to late in his career
These passages are to difficult for this tenor, sounds slightly out of tune.
@reydogoloyugo23 now is jonas kaufmann the best!!!
I was a fan of everything but his cadenza, to much muscle behind it to be comfortable.
@Lovelytenor1 100percent correct and big voices get away with this all the time.
Fake?! your kidding right? Im assuming you have some idea of what a tenor sounds like.
Fake? Ignorance is bliss!
too much fast! So bad!

this is called jealousy...
No throat action going on there? Are you deaf? His whole upper register is almost cringy in its throatiness.
