- Hi There everyone. I was hoping to get this video out months ago but sadly my schedule got pretty busy. I was on the fence about releasing this honestly because the audio quality is just terrible, but I did my best to salvage what I could and this is the best result I could come out with so I do apologize if you kept having to turn the volume up.

7:34 I think the premise was the fact that time was running out and letting the no-thing creature onboard with Donna would have been troublesome, such as they were already fighting during the chase towards the end anyway. 14th Doctor in my eyes just sorta went, "okay, I have a 50/50 chance and the bombs are about to go off- but just in case, I'll run a scan to check if it's the real Donna so I can kick this bugger off my ship and later repent my actions to Donna when she's rescued"
Like, it's a short detail but he whips around the screen to see the results of the scan just before he kicks the no-thing out

I honestly hated the Star Beast. It gives an indication of what Davies plans for the rest of his time: callbacks with little substance, mixed with nonsensical lore breaks. What does the sonic screwdriver making shields add to the story? They wrote themselves into that scenario, and then wrote themselves out with rubbish. Why this totally nonsensical callback to Donna being stuck on the word 'binary'? Just so many ridiculous choices.
Totally agree on the sonic part. I stopped watching after season 12 and just jumped into the 60th anniversary specials after skimming the wiki and I assumed it was an ability that was set up in the past season, learning it’s completely unexplained and out of nowhere really threw me off. I dont mind the screen for readings since he could always read Information from the sonic but the force fields that can block GUNSHOTS is pretty stupid imo

I gotta say I didn’t love NPH as the toy maker. The character was amazing but something about having such a recognisable face took me out of it completely. Even the spice up your life scene whilst amazing didn’t feel that surprising because it’s NPH, of course they found a way to sneak a dance number in. It was my least favourite of the three specials.
for me i dislike it more because of how the toymaker loses...NPH did a fine job but the way he loses to catch is terrible, the toymaker would want to win so bad he would happily jump off the building for the ball etc
