I know you said you don’t give out locations, but this has to be the mall that I always used to go walking around with my family back when I was a kid, it brings me back so many childhood memories!
If you share the location/name it will get wrecked, trashed destroyed. I'm not going to delete your comment but we would appreciate it if you edit the name out.
I did edit it, but I do remember going trick or treating at this mall one year back when I was a kid and the chair in the middle was where the carousel was placed!
That chair has been there ever since, I love Halloween!
Same here .. it's so sad 😞 to see it like this .. I love this mall
Let’s urbex and chill sometime
For any children of the 80’s & 90’s this is truly heartbreaking! As good as the internet is it’s destroyed so many things too 😢
Yeah true
HAL IS REAL!
No, that’s too easy. I worked in retail for too many years to see how lazy Advertising departments were and actually still are. The internet should sell directly to you, but should also be used to drive you to want to seek out store only. Clicking on items will never replace good customer service.
Retail didn’t get digital media fast enough and then they didn’t utilize it well enough. They still don’t.
@@mindakahn9964😊
I love my old malls in kitchener ontario 😊
Would be cool if these abandoned malls were turned into apartment complexes having an indoor neighborhood/community. Could have a few small stores and restaurants as well.
Would be pretty cool
Sounds expensive.
You mean like what Victor Gruen originally intended?

I absolutely love how it looks exactly like it did back in the day. I wish I could go back to that time frame..I was still young in the early 90s, I wish I could have been older so I could have enjoyed those days more.
Definitely a cool looking mall

+Vikki Sixx - You're plenty old now...
That is exactly how I feel about the 80s.
I can't believe malls from that far back even exist anymore in that state. Reminds me alot of the 1960s and 70s malls in the Orlando area that were all torn down 20+ years ago. Killer video!
Thanks yo 🤘🤙
What amazes me about the lights still being on is that you can tell this mall didn't just close the week before---you don't get water and roof damage that quickly, this place had been closed for awhile. I always wonder why they still leave the power on? It wasn't to power the security system, which wasn't even working
I know that is pretty crazy and always seems to amaze me, these abandoned places are nuts. Many more videos to come lots on hold so stay tuned. 🤘
Leave power off. It can be a fire hazard.
I always turn the lights off even if they were on already.
I assume they keep the power on so the pipes don't freeze and cause more issues.
I actually like all the groovy colors. Today everything is so bland, with the only available colors being white, gray silver or black. Thanks for posting.
forreal love all the colors too! thanks!
@James Cartwright True, but I still love colors. Maybe that's just me, but I was born in 1967 and grew up in the 70's and 80's. I miss those days.
These abandonded malls are sooo sad,,, thinking of all the people shopping, talking, buying,,,happy times,,,,what went wrong....
Everything good comes to a end
Honestly, I think September 11, 2001, was the beginning of the end, followed by 2002 recession, 2008 financial crisis, and now Covid. How can you maintain an upward trajectory when the bottom drops out every decade? Most of the old anchor stores are defunct and there is no one to replace them. Sad to witness all this in my lifetime.
@@katemayer862 couldn't agree more you are so right I was born in 1972 was a kid in the 80s started working as a kid in the 80s so my generation has faced all this stuff the 80s was the last great decade.
We lived in times a plenty compared to now. Long gone era peeps.
@@Urbex_Offlimits she's right, the 80's was truly the greatest era to grow up. The early 90's was good, but by the late 90's it started going downhill very quickly. I'm a few years older than she is.
It is sad seeing a mall that was once visited by hundreds of people in a day, to now being forgotten. How many memories were made here? How many artifacts left behind?
Lots of memories and lots of things left behind in the backrooms
Y'know, I love how not only everything was left here, but how it also looks like something went terrible, terribly wrong here. Like, I wasn't the only one getting those vibes from everything being knocked over, right?
Kinda creepy in some areas no doubt
Like a giant flesh monster terrorized a group of kids 😳
If someone in the 1970s and '80s could see this, they'd think the world had ended by now. That's the only thing that could explain why something as central to life as a mall could look this way.
Or…. Like a zombie out break that got quarantined just in time before they let the public know…..
@@GNo03 STARCOURT MALL??!!
i fell so calm an peace seeing these kind of videos..
Ah that's good enjoy my friend!
The amount of items left behind is unreal. Especially that photo shop.
For real photo shop way probably the coolest that and the backrooms and office
Hy can u tell who’s shadow at 3:03 ?
This is my mall. I spent many days in this mall as a kid and alot of money lol. Aw I hate to see it in that state. In the 90s it was great and my mom worked there in the 80s. I literally took pictures a few times at that photo place. Bringing back all my childhood memories right now ❤️
dang crazy there were a lot of photos left behind too
@@Urbex_Offlimits I bet those were the display pictures that would hang on the walls. Instead of advertising they would just ask people if they could use their picture for the background choice and put it on the wall.
Ah yeah huh
Where is this mall located?
@@kevinjackson422 California, I don’t remember the name but I remember seeing it doing research
This place looks so rad when you got in! I watched a video from a few months ago and it's completely destroyed now, nobody respected the time capsule and just ruined whatever was left 😔
I went here as a kid a few times and was driving by today which made me want to look it up. Thank you for capturing this video!
Sucks people wreck stuff was a very cool place, I saw some recent photos its bad now. glad you enjoyed the video!
What a cool old mall, I dig that 1970's architecture of the main part of the mall with all the arches.
Same favorite part of the mall with the neons
I like how you added the calm music. Even though this abandoned mall is dirty just a bit in some places, This almost looks like when it was open. Very nice!
Pretty fresh at the time

Yeah, mine has half the stores closed.
I grew up going to this mall in the mid 80s well into the 90s and early 2000s. This mall was the go to when I was in jr high and high school. This mall was built around the Harris department store. It had a movie theater a Montgomery Ward and JCPenney's and a carousel. It's unfortunate what it has become. So many great memories.
True
Montgomery Ward? Your age is showing🤣🤣lol. The youngsters of today wouldn't know what Monkey Ward was🤣
Yes, i grew up in the 80's, so i know the places you're talking about.
@@timothygeiger8271anyone remember the GTE phone center at the mall?
I always wondered how those photos, costumes, etc get scattered all over, its like everyone left in a panic
Yeah idk seems to be that way often
Great video! I visited before it closed and the only recent images I’ve seen were after the squatters moved in and set fires, etc. Fantastic tour of its in-between phase.
Thanks! yeah sad it's gotten to that point
I've often wondered why this old abandoned Malls weren't refurbished into individual apartments?
Good question
to redo the HVAC/electrical, plus all the building material required would not be worth it. You would still have a 40 year old building with all kinds of nastiness in the walls. These places were huge energy hogs. Maybe if these malls were architectural gems, but most of them were monstrosities.
To rezone, then bring the property up to code for living space, then individual hvac. Electrical, and water for every unit you would spend more than the whole property is worth or have to tare up and out so much it would be recognizable and cost more than the property is worth.
Nice video. I love these old abandoned malls!
Me too! especially when the neon's are still on and working😃😃
Oh, I wish I had the nerve to do this -- I live it through you. Great video, thanks for posting it!

Great video btw!! Loving the content. Seriously so underrated.
Gottcha
I found which mall it was after 5 seconds of googling but I love the video. The neon signs still lit in a dark, abandoned mall is like a vision of my dreams. I would visit this, but it's no where near where I live. I am amazed there's just tons of people's photos lying around right there in that one store, as well as just everything left in the offices. I wish I could make videos like this but I currently don't have the time or equipment to do so.
It's not hard to find at all I still keep it unnamed. But yeah cool place good chance there a cool.place like this near you to explore!
I'm going to be honest,a few of those left behind photos and that parking cop jacket would have left with me .. This is an interesting video I found here!
Thanks 🤘 lots more coming!
You know what would be cool if mall like this got bought by bunch small businesses and reopen it.another cool idea turn into paintball and air soft arena’s or turn into amusement park. I hate see huge build like this sit unused. Hopefully what ever get put in place bring a lot happy memories to people lives
Sounds interesting
It would be VERY cool for it to be purchased and restored. I think there will come a time in the future when people will want to return to mall shopping. Imagine reopening alot of those stores if not just a single stand alone location?
I'm surprised owners of these abandoned malls never seem to sell off their fixtures and furniture etc... I bet a lot of people would love to own a piece of their old local mall.
Especially those neon signs. Those are becoming rare these days and collectors are willing to pay a lot of money for them. But they just get crushed along with the rest of the building when it's demolished.
Seriously there's still some value at a lot of these places
Great video! I love these type of videos. I wonder why the power is still on and who is paying the power bill? Very strange. I just liked and subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work.

Liked the low key background music. It made this place seem really creepy. Almost had the impression that all the businesses cut out and ran considering the amount of stuff left behind.

The location has suffered a bit since this video- a three-alarm fire damaged the place on May 15th, 2022 to the point where demolishing the entire place has become pretty much guaranteed. Actual renovation odds are zero after how much damage that (and earlier) fire inflicted.
I heard about that

I’m a Gen X’r - while I understand to some degree why malls are dying, I believe they will ultimately make a comeback. Back in the day, you could meet people at malls, get some exercise, food, drinks and watch a movie.
My mall had a gym, great restaurants/bars and looked nice inside. It would be silly to totally abandon this just because people would rather play on their phone instead of walking
Sad but true
If they could attach subsidized housing for seniors/disabled buildings to these faltering malls they might be able to save them. People that have limited mobility and use scooters and seniors still appreciate malls. They can go shopping without winter attire, socialize at a restaurant with family without expensive travel costs for wheelchair transit. I think it would be a good viable option if the building was big enough.
That's an idea 💡
I think I know this place. If this is the one I'm thinking about, it has sadly been absolutely wrecked back in August. It looks like it has been left abandoned since the late 90s. What a shame.
Multiple fires and a recent death
Reminds me a bit of the Esplanade Mall in Kenner, LA where I used to go sometimes. Same general plan: an upper gallery level of shops looking down on a central plaza. The Esplanade has escalators and a glass lift. Can't quite recall if the food court is on the upper or lower level but I expect a lot of suburban malls were built to the same layout more or less, with three or four big split-level department stores as anchors for the whole mall, and of course a multiplex cinema.
Ah cool 🤘
Is it still open? I haven’t been to Kenner in years
Sad that a lot of people used to work here. Almost as sad as a closed factory!
