  • Ownership is a cornerstone facet of property in South African property law among other legally protected rights such as possession, servitudes and real security rights. Ownership is the most comprehensive right that a person can have in respect of an object of rights. It encompasses the rights to use, to enjoy the fruits of the property, and the right to destroy the property often expressed as utendi fruendi et abutendi.
