The Limnephilidae is one of the more diverse families in northern latitudes, including 252 species and 41 genera in North America. Only a few species of this group live in the Midwest and South, which is why they are often called Northern Caddisflies.
Most are shredding herbivores or detritivores. This group is well known for their diversity in cases materials and architecture, which at the genus or species level can often be used to aid in identification.

A really incredible tie for a CADDIS LARVAE, I have never used a hook like that, and your tying materials are new to me. What I'd the size of this tie?

Thank you. I tie this version in size 8-12 with the AHREX NS172 hook. I also tie other representations in smaller sizes, but I utilize a different hook. There will be a material list soon.

Great fly I use this method for the caddis pupa it gives such a nice gooey translucent look to an opaque material thanks for sharing

@davehise do they work good for them? I use real wax worms ice fishing but this would be great

They probably dont work as well because they dont have the scent. Waxworms are stinky. BUT.... I think they keep a few in their waxworm cup :-P
