Man recalls encounter with SCORPION Unit before Nichols death

- Some who know the officers involved in the Tyre Nichols case say at least one confirmed that he - and we are hearing several others - were with the new SCORPION Unit that MPD created in 2021 as a solution to fight crime. One man says the same SCORPION Unit stopped him on January 3, four days before Nichols was pulled over.

Cops are going to follow the law. There's always exceptions, but it's an outside chance if you are respectful and compliant. You mentioning some imaginary lawyer isn't going to prevent that if you've broken the law.

Hey look at this guy who was pulled over by my boys from the scorpion unit and when they told him to put his hands up, HE PUT HIS HANDS UP. And when they found no drugs in the car, they let him go WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A SCRATCH. These police officers DESERVE DOUBLE what they are currently making.

I admit it’s very tough being an officer, they do the jobs that we don’t want to do and go places we don’t want to- I appreciate the good cops that stand up for the citizens and communities that they patrol, but it’s a very thin line between duty and insanity that can be easily crossed and in this situation they crossed it.

Adams county in Denver did the same thing to me because supposedly I was in a "bad area" and they were trying to fight the war on drugs. A common issue that’s coming up in similar cases such as Tyler Nichols is that internal affairs that investigates police disciplinary matters seems to be barely accessible to the general public when they want raise issues on excessive force. Concerned citizens call, file complaints but have no idea on who to turn to in following up with such matters. The IA dept. being inaccessible to the public needs to be addressed too.
I hope this guy testifies in court.

They were doing this for a while they just went too far and messed up. If he would’ve survived he was just been another person beat up by the cops.
