The big E lets us know that it is pre 1971 and the fact that it is a type 2 jacket and blanked lined brings it to the early 50s. I hope you enjoy this find as much as I did

I just did a few mins of research and called my good friend who is super knowledgable about Levis Denim and i came to the conclusion this item should sell for roughly $3500 easy if you take good photos and write a very detailed description. HUGE score.

@@thecollegepicker i believe $5k is a bit much because buyers who want this jacket will view others on the market and see others lower in price, now these jackets are not common but they are out there and they do hit the market from time to time, the one thing you have going is the condition and dark denim thats a huge plus, i would shoot for a high price and let someone negotiate you down to something comfortable. You have one HUGE benefit and thats the fact that you only have a $1.50 in it, every other one you see listed online you can guarantee that the sellers who are selling it have way more into theres and they are working on very small profit margins because they most likely purchased it to resell. If i owned this jacket i would list it on multiple platforms and i would list it high roughly $4500-5000 and let it sit and wait it out. The market will talk to you. Then its all about what are you willing to take and how much do you need to the cash. Also make sure you take care of it correctly when its in your position, make sure you store it correctly, put it inside a vacuum sealed bag the full jacket bag not one of those where you have to fold the jacket do not fold the denim.

@@thecollegepicker Nah they were pretty broken in, not rigid or indigo. Hey, I at least got 18+ pairs of Levi's Vintage Clothing NWT for $9.99 each last week. 13 of them were the 1890 501s. The funkiest pair of jeans you'll ever lay your eyes on. I tried on a pair and they're the most hideous, non-fitting jeans I've ever tried on lol.

I'm going to list at $129 with best offer. Some have listed higher, but I like quick turnaround, and since I'm getting them so cheap . . . They are also selling me vintage NWT Panhandle Slim western shirts for $8 each that they had in their old store 30 years ago. Most sold for around $60 at that time. No one in this little no-stoplight town will buy any of this merchandise because "it's old". LOL! It's all in mint condition.
They have 22 pairs of the orange tab jeans, so I'm pretty stoked about that.

@@thecollegepicker I often find 70's vintage Levi's that are in dead stock condition. I believe people back then both had a higher value for money and a never-know-when-I-might-need-it mentality. I mean, people back then had basements filled with canned tomatoes from their gardens, why not save a jacket that doesn't quite fit right for 50 years?

I have one that looks just like the one in this video except it is a Levi's reproduction they made in the late 1990s. Even when a Levis Type 2 jacket is authentic, the inside tag is always dried out, has fallen apart, and is unreadable. But the one in this video is still fine after generations.

I had a Levi’s fleece-lined denim jacket in the 70’s. My mom patched the sleeves after a battery blew up in my face while I was wearing it.... the original acid washed experience.

thecollegepicker the brunt of it was right in my face. No jacket there. It was February in Kansas and I hosted myself completely down afterward, but tossed the jacket aside because I wanted to get any acid off my body.

I just scored a dark blue pair of big E LEVI'S (all uppercase lettering), button fly 501 jeans (from goodwill for $6.99) that I cant believe could have been mfg prior to 1971 based on how NEW they look!! Appear to be authentic in which case how much might these be worth? More importantly, where in Arizona (where I live) should I go to sell them?

i am japanese and at7:15 this magazine says yours is levis tag is double sided so either 1953-1954. one side Levis tag is 1952. But you got great condition jacket for crazy steal.

Cool man! I bought a 507xx jacket for $5 a few years ago. The leather label was completely dried out with only the corners still attached. That being said, mine was worth more than twice yours.
What a score 😍 amazing. I think the blanket lining hurts the desirability because it can't be worn in as many climates. - my theory
@@thecollegepicker You're correct in reference to the blanket lining. But what made mine a "holy grail" Levi's jacket was the chain stitch embroidery on the back. A collector/reseller friend said it could fetch as high as ten thousand dollars.

Congratulations on your find! I would say you definitely have the nicest condition jacket that I have seen for that jacket and I hope you get your asking price and may just because of the condition, however, I'm not quite positive on the price. My estimate would more likely land in the range of 1500-2000 because of condition. I hope you get more and you may just because of its deadstock appearance, but with the market these days and the LVC line I don't expect so. I hope you do though!!!

what measures can you take to make sure an ebay buyer doesnt try to scam you on items like this. ive never sold anything on ebay near $1000 even. id be nervous selling this just because i dont know how to make sure a scammer cant say i sent something else instead of the jacket or any other way they would try to scam. any tips on this? thanks

It sold already for $5,700. Not a big market, but a very wealthy one.
thecollegepicker wow. Crazy. I don’t see the value. But, that’s me. To each his own. The most I paid for a denim jacket was close to $100 for a late 1960’s wrangler...but the appeal was that it was perfectly, beautifully, authentically faded/distressed. Guess this is why people get up at the crack of dawn to hit all the yard sales and flea markets...why thrift stores now have someone full time on the computer to look everything up before they price it. There are still deals to be had, items that slip thru the cracks without anyone realizing their worth - but, they are getting few and far between.

Good question! Originally listed for $3500 then up to $7500 after a few weeks. Private message buyer negotiated down to $5700 from there.
I believe yours is just a regular LVC version, not the real vintage one because of the leather tag and the copper rivet.

If you want to renew the colour more darker go to the company and ask their workers to dye the jacket for you, they will only charge you 10 dollars for the dye

An item being 'distressed' can definitely add more value in some cases, but not in this one. I think the only exception would be if the jacket had been owned by someone famous, in which case the wear could be a strong selling point. If this was John Wayne's worn-out favorite jacket, for instance, the sky would be the limit on valuation.
