  • It's a simple question that, as it turns out, has a scientific answer. Does placing household items on your vehicle to protect it from hail during severe weather actually work?

it is actually true that size affects speed in the case of hail. with hailstones is not a simple "everything falls the same speed" answer. there are many variables in the thunderstorm conditions that produce, propel, and slow them. hailstones are formed in very turbulent wind. small hailstones my hit the ground at 25 mph while very large hailstones may be traveling at over 90 mph.

How about pool noodles taped together like a raft?

Never old. Need something here, an inflatable raft or air mattress. Anything because cars are as expensive as ever now.

Bkanjet with blank of wood works

Look into The car armor hail protection covers. Fast to deploy and most importantly effective

Not at that "inflated" price AND terrible design needing the electricity to run the entire time the cover is on.

"larger the hail, the faster it falls" - that is completely not true.
Gravity affects all falling objects the same. The thing that changes is mass. Newton's second law is Force = mass x acceleration. Acceleration under gravity is the same for all object 9.81 meters per second.
Obviously this is not considering wind resistance, which would actually be higher for larger size hail, like the size of a baseball, than that of something smaller, like a marble.
    Please get your science correct.

If the hail is being BLOWN by the wind, then the larger the hail, the faster it's moving. This isn't regular freefall.

Because all hail is softball size🙄.
Try the purple mattress. They claim it will protect a raw egg

55-75 mph and that is their fastball? In High School? These must not actually be the pitchers.
