The faceset for Data was creating using 2 of the Star Trek TNG films: First Contact, and Generations. I also found a CZcams channel with some AI upscaled footage from the original TNG show that I incorporated into the set. The footage of Prometheus is from my 4k Blu Ray copy of the film.
Fascinating Captain.
It amazes me how well the lighting is transferred perfectly. Also, how you still recognise an actors performance under the face. But really, a most flawless job. You're exceptionally good at this.
The one issue that I haven't figured out how to really overcome is retaining the original person's jawline/cheeks/facial structure, but still being able to handle facial obstructions. Brent has a a bit larger jawline than Michael. There are several options in the merging process to change how the mask works/looks, and it is possible to retain the original jawline (which would improve/help retain more of Brent/Data's likeness), but it doesn't work with obstructions. The mask laws "over" everything, so if something gets in front of the face (even his hair/bangs) they get placed behind the mask. If he had no bangs, and there were no obstructions, I'd use that method and it'd look more like Data. The downside to doing that is it limits me to doing very basic/boring fakes with videos where the target person (Fassbender in this case) isn't doing anything particularly interesting.
@@DruuzilTechGames Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. It is pretty spot on. It looks like young spinner, and it's interesting to see the more serious fassbenders acting give a kind of sinister look to Data. But I'm pretty familiar with the film, so it's hard to unsee the original performance.
However, that doesn't detract. It makes it more interesting. It's a very good match for a swap. It actually seems better for dropping the dialogue and going with the music.
Honestly, I think you are taking the right approach.
Maybe he's Lore instead of Data? :D Was thinking of doing some scenes from Covenant also, since David fights his "brother" Walter (both played by Fassbender). Could be a Data vs Lore battle.

Man for the Picard show why couldn't they just use this technology? Hire someone that has the shape of young Data and then Deepfake his face over him (like Luke in Mando). Great job with this video. Looks so real.
Trying to put Fassbender into Star Trek (the more recent films) now as Kirk. Ripped my 4k blu ray of that movie also, should look good. Doing the model at very high res also.
Somehow this makes more noticeable the quiet contempt that David had for the humans
I actually felt bad for David at points in the film, like the way his "father" treats him and talks down to him/about him (not having a soul etc). His growing contempt is almost warranted, but obviously he takes things to an insane level.
@@DruuzilTechGames That is half-way to asuming he felt contempt for his father looking down on him. But machines should be impervious to that, if anything their contempt is a very logical conclusion, and that is what makes it frightening, that in some way, he is correct. Like the contempt that the engineer had for David, probably seen as a mockery of their creation.

In the coming years, when the hardware catches up, we'll be able to do this on the fly. Imagine streaming a movie for the first time, like John Wick, and telling your system to replace him with Donald Trump or Elvis, and every weapon with bazookas.
If anything it's the software that's lagging behind. Deepfacelab hasn't been updated since 2021. AFAIK the developer is working on a new version that'll be totally different called DeepX Tools which he had a demo out for a while back. Will be interesting to see how much better that is when it's fully launched.
