Another busy week at the chateau. We add the final finishing touches to the downstairs communal bathroom! It looks absolutely gorgeous, and we really hope you like it too!
The Kitchen refresh has been well and truly smashed this week! Make sure you watch the whole video to see exactly why we refreshed it the way we did!

I love your sofas but it looks more like a furnishing show room . Replace 2 sofas with a 2 vintage leather arm chairs or other single chairs. I think people like to sit in individual chairs. 😘😘😘 Well done with the blue bathroom , lovely

I agree. It looks a bit like a waitingroom now. And the mirror on the right is too wide for the fireplace. Unless you turn it. But all over it is a beautiful light and fresh room. Compliments.
Don't forget in the common room you're going to need power for guests to charge devices, especially at those end tables you'll be buying. If just brocante finds and not antiques, I'd attach power strips to the rear so they don't show. You can buy models with A/C plugs, USB-A and also USB-C all on the same strip.

Adding additional area rugs to the salon is an easy way to create different areas in a room and add a punch of colour. Looking forward to seeing the salon when the curtains are up and all the accents are in place.

Please move the sofas out from the wall. Otherwise, once the colour is added, the room will be lovely. Would a stable door work between the kitchen and the dining room. Well done everyone.
Thankyou Dot! The stable door is something we have thought about, but I think we have chosen to stick to the full height door so we can also have access to thinks underneath the hot pass when collecting food for guests! 🥰❤️

A few decorating ideas for the salon. I would turn the mirror above your fireplace vertically and put some candle sconces on either side. Theia would draw your eye up

A white round dome top gazebo of dainty scrolled wrought iron would be lovely in the center of the garden. The sun dial could be in the middle and benches around the side. Whatever you do will be stunning! ❤️
Great room. I’m thinking use two couches somewhere else and put in two large arm chairs at each end in the contrasting green colour as the throws, this would give you space to adjust the regimented rows of couches . You could also add some buttoned ottotmans in the green! 👏👏love the progress.

Of all the chandeliers I've seen on Chateau reno shows, the chandelier is the most gorgeous one yet..

Love the layout of the salon---some folks don't seem to understand the fact that the room is purposefully designed for patrons, and not just personal use. I wasn't too sure about the painted windows, UNTIL I realized that your WC is at ground level. I prefer the whimsy over plain frosted glass any day. The Kitchen is really starting to show her potential, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. When you were talking about the wall color, as things progress, you may consider an accent wall with a warm tone (like a cranberry to go with the flooring--if you keep it). It will take the 'commercial/institutional' vibe out of the space and honor that range hood).
If I ever get my kids out of college I may be able to book a trip out there!! Cheers!

Love the work on the mirror, and the chandelier looks so good too!!! Was just thinking of the white couch furniture. I guess once there are a few more side and coffee tables and plants etc. it will fill in. Its just that right now the placing of them looks rigid and thought maybe if they have a slight angle instead straight boxed in. Absolutely love the bathroom of mirrors!!!! So good to get the kitchen second coat on plus all the repairs and upkeep done and as always ongoing. You have come a long way and its looking very cozy and splendid at the same time!!! Instead of all of those identical round pillows, that don't really add anything to the so very neutral color scheme, please consider 3 or 4 coordinating fabrics (different textures) to scatter around all of those sofas to add life to the room!
That’s part of the plan with the green colours Patricia. Lots of colour to come, but for now the cushions are functional and within our budget 🥰❤️

Sorry my comment posted before I was ready... so to continue...this would draw the eye up to a similar height as the curtains creating visual interest. I would use a couple of narrow sofa tables behind the two sofas against the wall with two identical tall, slender lamps on each table. You could also place one good size mirror between each set of lamps. You could still place a rectangular coffee table between each set of sofas. I think they could be moved a little closer together to encourage game playing or conversation. If you use a patterned fabric for your curtains you might pull colors from them to make a few more throw pillows for the sofas. But I would use solid colors with textures rather than patterns. I would hang larger paintings on the two walls on either of the doorway going into the salon. Hope this gives you a few more ideas. Keep up the good work! 😀

I watched the episode re cleaning out the greenhouse. Wow what a structure. Would be interesting to find out when it was built, is the glass side facing South, if so with stone wall at back, it was obviously built as a passive solar greenhouse, with the pipes for winter. The sun would heat up the stones. A very long time ago greenhouses were built in the shape like yours. It is only in recent times that they became all glass structures. It could become a wonderful authentic feature of your property, making a point of difference and growing your own organic food for guests etc. There is a couple in Wales who have built a passive solar greenhouse and documented their findings etc. Very interesting.
It is absolutely beautiful isnt it! We believe it would have been original to the chateau so 16th century. We would love to fully restore it with proper glass and get the water pipes working too, but its just soo far out of our budget at the moment! Maybe in 10 years or so! haha thanks for your support though!

I love the bathroom!!! ❤ The small mirrors are just simply perfect!! And the furniture in the salon is gorgeous! I didn’t quite notice the detail at first. Love how you laid the room out! The sage throws look so beautiful and comfortable! Can’t wait to see the drapery! Exciting!
You probably already know this, but concerning cleaning grease in the kitchen or scum in the bathroom - equal measure of white vinegar and blue Dawn dish soap is marvelous! You heat up the vinegar and then add the dish soap. Put in a spray bottle, spray the area, let it sit for an hour or two, and simply wipe it down. I have tried it on a dirty vent hood and glass shower doors. It is so stinking easy. No scrubbing. 👍

Absolutely love the bathroom!!! The kitchen is looking so clean and fresh. Love the plans for the pass though for the dining room. We had small ones in our homes in Texas, England and Germany. They were fun.

In the blue bathroom, having some Van Gogh style paintings would really make the bathroom pop. the gold framed mirrors, just does not give it the Wow factor. And as in some of the other comments. There are too many couches in the Salon. Take out some of the couches and maybe put in chairs instead.

The new bathroom and dining room mirror look wonderful! That mirror really makes the room! The kitchen is bright and clean and the idea for platting up food through the door into the dining room, very clever and will save steps! Good work getting these two essential rooms finished! The salon looks a bit crowded with 6 settees.....but once art of soft furnishings are included, it will level out. Cheers!

Have a look at channel, How to renovate a chateau, their episode 5 months ago re the 4 yr transformation. Your top floor rooms would be lovely with an authentic french decor to marry the ambience of the structure. He is French. Recently found your channel. So glad you didn't add more windows. The area of Piedmont in Northern Italy is part of UNESCO heritage because so many homes and castles are still authentic.

Well its difficult hearing our opinions when different to your own and I know soft furnishing and pictures help but I do think all the same sofas has a clinical look and maybe to many in one room, people rarely sit playing games when on holiday in my experience, that said its your home to decorate how you wish .

Very critical and disrespectful of the work they are doing in THEIR chateaux. While design choices may not be to your taste or mine in some cases, the work is wonderfully done and part of their vision for the use of the chateaux. I enjoy the restoration process. The choice of blue makes those painted windows stand out, keeping part of the history of the building alive.

Hi guys from Santa Fe New Mexico been watching & wondering if you have thought of putting wood stoves in your fireplaces it makes a huge difference!!! Take it from someone who knows the snow is cold 🥶 out here!!! 🥰🥰

While it’s a lovely idea, Unfortunately the insurance company won’t allow us to have working fires and stoves in the guests bedrooms.
Not many insurance companies insure castles at all either so we’re pretty lucky to have found someone who insures us at all! 😂😂
The salon is pretty however, it could be stunning. Place the mirror on the wall opposite of the windows. Above the fireplace create a mood with dimmer lighting highlighting your crest, chateau name or a beautiful focal point you may need to scour for. Hire a muralist/artist to paint a dreamy outdoor scene, bring the outside in. There may be too many couches, consider more smaller vignettes with some single chairs with arms, and definitely a variety of pillows as well as cozy memorabilia items scattered throughout. As a general rule, it is hard to enjoy a salon if you can hear other peoples conversation. Think more subtle, and quiet memorable moments.

Love the bathroom and the big mirror in the dining room..FYI, if you use matte (flat) finish paint it doesn’t show the imperfections on the walls. I know that because I live in a old house with lathe and plaster. Cheers from Canada.

I understand your need for lots of sitting space in the salon, and I love what you guys are doing, but, there’s too much same same. It almost feels a little industrial. I would take a couple of the couches out and put something different in if you still need seating. As a guest, I would not enjoy that room, because of too much of the same and a little boring visually as a result. The two by the fireplace are great!

Take one sofa out of the salon, you need 5, 6 is bad luck and negative in Feng Shui.....and the room is just too overcharged with all 6.

I would love to watch your channel. I’ve tried watching different videos. The footage is very good when the camera is still but when moving, it is too shaky which makes it too difficult to watch. I’m only commenting on this as constructive criticism. You have a beautiful château, and I wish you all the best! I am not a videographer, but I know there are ways around the shakiness from watching other video channels.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Rebyl. There’s a very expensive bit of kit called a gimble that you can buy to help steady the camera when filming on the move but it’s a little out of our budget for the moment.
