I just realise now how Ragnar kept trying to go against the systems of the world, both religioulsy as worldly.
That's what made Ragnar a unique character, not protagonist, that everyone can be.
He was rich in details, something that Bjorn doesn't have.

This is one of the most honorable roles you can get as an actor and he conveyed it well with all his heart.
Ragnars role is surely worthy an Oscar not to mention Ivar aswell.

Ragnar believed that his sons were more famous than him , and that is why, he went to the Anglo Saxons ''England'' with only 2 longships to prove to them that he was still capable...however , he was caught by a stonger force and brought to King AElla, who paced him into a dungeon, full of snakes....at least this is the story from the 12th and 13 century Anglo-Saxons Sagas ....

Someone once made a comment I enjoyed that was basically: each son represents an aspect of Ragnar. Bjorn the warrior, Ivan the cunning, Hvitserk the escapism (represented by addiction), Ubbe the explorer & visionary.

The character arc of THE Ragnar lothbrok is greatest of all time. Everyone feared him as well as they admired and respected him and that's the dangerous combination.
For me he isn't even an actor.. he's just RAGNAR

After his death Ivar carried the show. When I first watched the show it was Ivar the impressed me the most... But after watching it again I realised it was Ragnar all along that was the heart of this show.

The characther with the most charisma, the series died for me when he and king ecbert died, it never was the same again. First seasons the show is overall better because it came from genuine work and inspiration. The opening sequence of this video is proof of that.
