Early Park Entry Tips for Magic Kingdom: How to Make the Most of this Disney World Hotel Perk

  • Guests at Disney World Resorts and select partner hotels get early park entry. For 30 minutes, only these guests are allowed to enter the theme parks. That's still a LOT of people - and not all of the park is open. Join us as we show you what Early Park Entry is really like at Magic Kingdom and see how we beat the early morning crowds to rope drop the best rides in the park! Want to cross Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight off your list first thing in the morning? Pull up a chair and we'll show you what it takes to get a jump on your Disney World day.
    WHAT WE USE TO FILM OUR VIDEOS
    Note that we make a commission from Amazon if you purchase using the links here:
    DJI OM 5
    This is like a steadicam for your phone. It keeps all your shots smooth and level, even while you are walking. Do not use on fast rides like roller coasters. Also note that this can convert to a selfie stick, but selfie sticks are not allowed in Disney Parks. This item is allowed because it is primarily a gimbal but you are not allowed to extend it.

    RODE VIDEO MICRO
    This little microphone is a great, affordable way to cut down on the noise around you so people can hear your voice. Just be sure to point it at the sound you want and unplug it when you want to hear all the sound around you.
    amzn.to/3TwZxp0
    COLD SHOE MOUNT ADAPTER
    If you want to use the DJI Om 5 and the microphone at the same time, you need one of these.

    You are literally a GODSEND. Your videos are top tier, full of great practical advice, and I love how you show each step so we know what to expect visually. Like none of the blogs I read actually EXPLAINED what rope drop looked like or what the etiquette is (I would have totally been kicked to the back of the line by the cast because I didn't know you're not supposed to walk ahead of them!). Thanks for the thorough explanations and sharing your thought process behind each recommendation. I watch you more than DFB guide now :p

      Thank you so much - we really appreciate this sweet comment! We should clarify that this etiquette is for early entry rope drop at Magic Kingdom specifically. Each park has a different flavor of rope drop and the specifics change a bit when it is not early entry. Your comment is super helpful because it made us realize we need to do a video similar to this one for all of the parks so everyone can see what to expect in the others, as well. We'll have to start saving up for all those hotel stays now. 🤣

      @@EarScouts that would be so helpful! We have a trip coming next year where we will attempt rope drop in a couple of the parks (other days we will have extended/extra evening hours). It's be great to not only see early entry for all of the parks so we can learn the etiquette, but also what your strategy for the extra/extended evening hours is in the parks! Thanks for all your hard work. Your videos are helpful, informative, engaging, and just plain fun!

    Just wanted to say THANK YOU, just got back from MK with my girlfriend and it was the best time ever thanks to you! Did early entry and got Genie Plus and was able to get on pretty much every ride thanks to you! Barely waited in any lines and still had the time to sit down at restaurants for lunch and dinner! On a busy Saturday too!

    I couldn’t agree more with some of the comments below. Thanks so much for actually showing what rope drop actually looks like and the etiquette with the cast members! With all I’ve read that wasn’t ever clearly explained. Also, thanks for offering the other strategies for 2nd rope dropping in Frontierland - we were thinking of this strategy during Christmas time and doing ILL for 7DMT and skipping Peter Pan as it’s not one of our top do rides. I’ve learned so much from your videos! Thanks so much and I hope I can execute as well in a few weeks!!

    ANOTHER fantastic video!
    It plainly shows that YOU CARE about INFORMING us, rather than pleasing yourself hearing your own voice! I swear THAT’S the impression I get from watching most everyone else!
    I do have a suggestion. Your videos are interspersed with so much information that I often find myself scrolling foreword and backward through them to recall some specific tip. It might be helpful to end each video with a “Bullet Point” summary of the major tips, all in one place.
    Keep up the great work!

    Your videos are helpful! You provide clear explanations. I’ve watched many other videos and read blogs that don’t clearly step through the expected experience. We can’t thank you enough for these early entry videos - for first timers, just knowing what to expect with early entry was so great. But we followed your advice and it was perfect! On our trip we got to ride Remy, Frozen, and Guardians one morning; 7 Dwarfs and Peter Pan another; and Rise of the Resistance (which was lucky because it was temp closed most of the rest of the day), Smugglers Run twice, and M&M Railway! Your advice worked so perfectly! Our Epcot day we were the second family at the gate! We did MK two days and both were able to ride 7 Dwarfs with no wait. It really made our vacation and we were singing your praises every day. Thank you so so much!!

    Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned an immense amount of important park knowledge since I have been subscribed to your channel. I was in the same spot as you when I started waiting in line for Peter Pan last summer and it was over an hour! Now I know that if the lightning lane is not running, then the line moves quickly. I really didn't want to use a lightning lane and skip the que because like you that is my favorite part of the ride. You have an awesome sense of humor and you are very good at explaining all of these complicated rules in a simple, easy to understand manner. I look forward to watching your new videos in the future! Great job!

    • @EarScouts
      @EarScouts  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment. Peter Pan’s Flight is maybe the trickiest ride in the park for standby. I’ve been there when the line flew by (even with LL running) but that is super rare. Usually it is painfully slow, which is a shame because it really stinks for people to miss that amazing queue when they do the LL.
      Thanks so much for watching! We really appreciate it. 😃

      Thank you! I have an update on the bus situation. I spoke with several bus drivers when making our Hollywood Studios early entry video. They said it is rare for buses to run 2 hours before early park entry. 1 hour is most common, though they typically try to do an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half before early park entry. Apparently it depends on how busy the park is expected to be and staffing. So the official answer is 🤷‍♂️. 😂

      Thank you! And I think the poor Cast Members who have to run the line at Peter Pan's Flight would agree with us, too. I feel so bad for them when people start getting angry, but it's not their fault they are told to let over 100 people go through from Lightning Lane for each party of 4 from standby. And it's also not hard to see why people get angry. Disney needs to fix it.

    I love your videos so much and used them to help me last week BUT came across a problem you might want to mention. I was in the front of the line waiting to go to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train pushing my 3 year old in a stroller. Once the park let us through, I went from first in the crowd to last because I had to take the time to park my stroller then stand in the long line. I highly recommended taking a stroller for future videos so parents can get a better idea of how it works. Parent swap also slows you down on getting parks done faster. We still did everything we wanted and had a blast. Love your videos

    I want to say that I really appreciate the information that you share. I followed your recommendations here and it worked perfectly getting on Seven Dwarfs and being able to complete Peter Pan as the park opened. However, I came across an issue that I hadn’t expected. At 7 AM, I had grabbed Splash Mountain as my first LL for 8:10 AM, which I figured would be great timing. When we completed Peter Pan, we actually decided to do Its A Small World, on the way to Splash Mountain, since it has no wait. Getting off Its A Small World, I checked Splash Mountain and it was down, so we got the special experience LLs in its place. I kept those to use later, but the issue was that, even though Splash Mountain LL had been removed, I had to wait until 10 AM before getting the next ones. I did save them until Splash Mountain came back up around noon and was able to do Jungle Cruise which only had a 20 minute wait at the time, but it threw me for a bit. Any thoughts on why I couldn’t do any before 10, since it treated it like one made for a later time in the day?

    • @EarScouts
      @EarScouts  Před rokem +1

      Hello! The buses are one of the most unpredictable things at WDW. I have never seen them come later than 1 hour before early entry begins. So if EE is at 8:30 at MK, your bus should arrive by 7:30. It CAN come as early as two hours before EE and I have seen that happen with my own eyes, but it is rare and the bus drivers I spoke to said it only really starts that early when they have an excess of drivers early in the morning and are expecting larger crowds. The best advice I can give is that the first bus will come somewhere between 1 and 2 hours before early entry unless there is some kind of issue. Hope you have a great trip! 😃

    I love these vlogs! Do you have any tips for getting rise if the resistance ? We just went and it was impossible

    • @EarScouts
      @EarScouts  Před 2 lety

      Thanks so much! Rise is tricky. Your best bet (if you are willing to pay for it) is to book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane as early in the morning as you can. If you have a Disney or partner hotel, you can start booking at 7am. If not, you can start booking at the time the park opens. If you’d rather not pay, your best bet is to ride it as the last ride of the night. Get in line right before park close and you’ll be allowed to stay as long as it takes to ride, unless it goes down. And that’s the big risk because it goes down a LOT. The other option is to go there first thing in the morning, but I only recommend this if you are staying at a Disney/partner hotel and you go for early entry. You’ll need to be there at least 30 minutes before early entry starts (and ideally 45 minutes to an hour before) so you can be at the front of the crowd like we did in this early entry video. If none of these sound good to you, keep an eye on wait times and if you notice it is down, try to do things in the Galaxy’s Edge area. That way, if it comes back up, you can hopefully be among the first in line. I wouldn’t bank on this last option though. You never know how long it will be down and it involves a lot of luck. If you ever see it posted at 60 or less, just get in the line. It is exceedingly rare that it will get better than that unless the park is really empty. Hope that helps!

  • @kn8354
    @kn8354 Před 2 lety +1

    Yes you still have to wait in the morning and are still technically waiting in line for the one big attraction you are starting with. However, I would argue you still save a lot of time in line throughout the day this way. The people who didn’t do this in the morning will be absorbed by the big rides you already did, allowing you to get on some other things very quickly in the morning that have very high waits in the afternoon ( splash mountain, big thunder, haunted mansion etc.) while they are waiting to get on mine train. it’s a domino effect throughout the day- you end up having the attractions left that have the shortest wait times during peak park hours 😊.

    • @EarScouts
      @EarScouts  Před 2 lety

      I agree with this assessment. Plus, the time you are in line is basically “bonus” time. You are not using any of your park hours to wait in what is typically the longest line in the park. If your goal is to do as much as possible at Disney World, getting there early is key. Thanks for watching and sharing this good advice. 😃

      @EarScouts  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks so much for watching! So we shot this video on a non-holiday weekday and the parks were fairly slow. That's how I managed to get a bus to myself. We actually did not catch the first bus from the resort, we caught it just after 7:00 and the first bus would have been at 6:30. I think you could probably get away with catching the next bus after the one we got (around 7:15 - 7:20) and still not be too far back on a slow morning - but it would be a gamble. Whenever I arrive 30 minutes or less before early park entry, I am way back in the herd and it generally takes the entire early entry period (or more) to ride that top-tier ride (Mine Train, Flight of Passage, Remy, Rise). Hope that helps!
