In today's video we review what we think is the best van screen door option on the market. We have this van screen door installed on our Mercedes Sprinter based Airstream Interstate van. The screen door is made by a company called “The Bug Wall”, who also makes screen doors for RAM ProMaster Vans and Ford Transit Vans. This is a great fit for DIY van conversations and van builds, as well as an upgrade for Class B vans that come without a screen door, or as was in our case, a screen door that did not work well. None of the screens we have looked at have the bottom attached. thats a deal breaker, bugs can enter...
Hey, thanks for your comment. We were worried about that as well, but really never presented an issue for us. We were in south Texas for quite a while with really bad mosquitos and really only had an issue with them getting in when we opened the screen to get in and out of the van. When we were inside at night with the doors open, they would pile up on the screen, but didn't seem to find their way in. If we had to do it all over again, we'd totally buy the same screen again. One thing to note, this screen is weighted at the bottom, and as long as you install it correctly without a big gap at the bottom, the rests nicely on the step of the van.
I wish I had seen your video before buying the solution I have now, because mine (a different product than your) is not working.

Hey, thanks for watching. are you talking about this one? amzn.to/3Uy9RQ2 We haven’t tried that one, but it looks very similar in how it is installed. I can say the screen we showed in the video has held up very well to 2 years of full time use by a family of 4 and is really well made. As long as the Van Essentials is made of similar quality, it would probably be good too!
How does this seal the bottom? Looks open on the bottom?
Hey. It is open at the bottom. When it’s windy you can sometimes see a little gap at the bottom, but it’s never been a problem with bugs or anything for us.
