  • One of the things that I love about roller skating, is that there are so many different types and styles of skating, but sometimes it's hard to know where to start. Park skating is different from a lot of other types because you need to learn how to deal with [and embrace!] uneven ground and use it to your advantage as you whip around the park.
    I've made this video with 5 skills and tricks for the skate park for all the new skaters out there that don't know where to start or if you're looking for some advice on how to do different tricks. The first skill is to roll down a ramp, which is a bedrock for learning the other tricks, but the others don't need to be learned in any particular order.
    Before you start, you should already be comfortable skating forwards, backwards and stopping.

    Super helpful, I've only been to the skate park once and didn't know I have to stagger my feet so felt so unsteady. Definitely want to go back now and try these moves out. More tutorials please!

    Great video! Also from one bespectacled skater to another, S1 makes a helmet with a visor to protect your glasses. I have it and it's the best helmet ever.

      Yes! I have an S1 helmet with a visor that I use for roller derby, but I don’t find I really need that the face protection for park skating ☺️

    Thanks for the tutorial, since my first fall I've lost confidence on my skates lmao, I'll try to get back at it soon. Also I followed your IG, good stuff!

    pumping its so tiring😢

    Backwards always seems so much faster. That is what scares me. Then I just fall. If Ifeel my only option on a ramp is to go backwards fast, I stop.

    • @geekgirlskates9310
      @geekgirlskates9310  Před rokem +1

      That is a totally reasonable fear 😅 I hope you can overcome it!

      I think if I had the bum padding I would be more confident.

      @@kweisgerberI have some Tortoise shorts which are brilliant if you fall on your bum, I highly recommend them 👍🏻
