  • This will be a 3 part video in HD of one of the great model railroad in the US. The owner has been working on this layout for number of years with some very good help. This model railroad runs as close to the real thing as you can get.

    Truly the pinnacle of modern model railroad operations. This layout is indeed up there with Vic Smiths' City Edge layout, the La Mesa model railroad club, and Pelle Soeborg's Danville layout. Great job commentating Mr. Houston. Looking forward to more videos. You've earned my sub.

    this has to be one of the best layouts i have ever seen, can you tell me what kind of signals they used and what were they using for a road bed?, hoping to see an other layout update from this layout? does he have his own you tube page? thanks lot for your help,,,Gary

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  Před 9 lety

      gary wise John has a web site. search BNSF FALL River in search box. NJ int Signals. They are run by JMRI Panel Pro. But he uses a overlay program that was written for JMRI by one of his fellow modelers. But the system for signals is Free, JMRI.com Warning if you are not into this it is not easy to make it all work. Takes a lot of electronics to make this happen.

  • @arthurhouston3

    4 engines, does the train actually need it, or just roleplaying?

    • @arthurhouston3
      @arthurhouston3  Před 5 lety

      In most cases in all the model RRs I have ever operated on 2 engines will pull everything. But this is an attempt at pro type operations and in the real world there would be massive motive power. mid train and end helpers not un common. on 100 car coal trains.

    • @CMDRFandragon
      @CMDRFandragon Před 5 lety

      @@arthurhouston3 Yeah, I do know when I was in Queen Creek, AZ, a track ran right past Canyon State Academy, and I always wondered how heavy coal must be when a coal train with like 30 cars had 5 engines on the head end.... Meanwhile the autorack trains that rolled through there were way longer but usually only had 2 engines.

    1:20 you start talking about the flashing Yellow and called it wrong. It's called a "Approach Limited". Proceed, Speed passing next signal must not exceed 40 mph unless it can be plainly seen that indication of the next signal displays a clear, advance approach or approach limited. It will not and should not show a red signal at the next. If it does. The signals are not setup correctly or there is a malfunction.

    • @tex-hogger4974
      @tex-hogger4974 Před 5 lety

      Actually on the BNsf it's "Approach Medium". Proceed, prepared to pass next signal not exceeding 40 MPH, and prepared to enter diverging route at prescribed speed through turnout.
