How To Catch Snook on Shrimp Day or Night Fishing

  • In this video I catch three snook during the day on small shrimp, two really big ones. I explain how to rig your line when fishing for snook and demonstrate how to catch them. This method works anywhere the big ones are hanging out. You will see me catch two huge fish, back to back, two casts, two shrimp and two snook.
    The same method used in this video is how I fish around rocks, bridges, jetties, flats, inlets and beaches.
    You will also learn the best way to hook a shrimp when fishing for snook.
    Rigging:
    1. Forty pound test leader. Here's the link to my video showing how to rig for snook fishing with shrimp, lady fish, greenbacks, pinfish or grunts: • How To Rig For Snook F...
    2.4/O circle hook, preferably Mustad
    3. Medium to heavy spinning reel and rod combo depending upon what type of structure you are fishing around.
    4. Ten to thirty pound test line your your reel depending upon the area you are fishing in
    I've caught gigantic snook on handpicks and very small shrimp. I prefer using handpicked shrimp, but sometimes they aren't available. So, I just go with the biggest ones I can get.
    There's a saying, "the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish". I've found this to be true in most cases. If you hook up with a snook on a decent sized lady fish, chances are he's going to be a huge, giant of a fish. If you fish with shrimp you increase your changes of catching more snook and still may catch a big one.
    I don't claim to be an expert on snook fishing during the day. In fact, in this CZcams video I explain that I've never caught snook during mid afternoon. I've always fished for the in early morning, late evening and at night, but never during the heat of the day.
    I've heard that spawning snook, like the ones I caught in the video, generally have a healthy appetite. Perhaps that would explain why they were biting so good during the daytime. Still, I've learned through the years that these are very finicky fish. When they feed, they feed like crazy. When they don't want to eat, it's nearly impossible to get one to glance at your bait.
    This video was produced by JC with the Rad Reeling Fishing CZcams channel. Creating Residuals Inc. edited and finalized all of the video footage.
    Species of Fish Caught In This CZcams Video:
    -Whiting
    -Snook
    -Pompano

    Second video I stumbled upon of this guy, with affordable gear that I have bought from Walmart and he knows what's up
    Same Berkeley Fusion set up on another video and now the Rhino Rod...
    Keep up the good work man, tight lines

      Thanks for the complement. I love the Rhino Rod too. It's a little bit flexible at the tip, great for circle hook fishing live bait in open water. Doesn't have enough heavy support to wrestle with big fish near structure. Man I slammed a nice 33" snook fifteen minutes after snook season opened on the Berkley Fusion combo. I'm not affiliated with Walmart, but the do have some decent gear, not all, but some. I did a review on the Shakespeare Contender combo, not such good news there.

    One question on the way you pitched those shrimp out there.
    Do you let drift freely in the current or are you jigging it every once in a while with a pop?

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for asking Dean. I think at 3:50 is a good place to watch how I was freelining the shrimp. The current was pushing pretty good and I think I just kept letting line out so the shrimp would drift naturally.

      @RadReelingFishing  Před 6 lety +3

      Yes, old habits die hard. Those are actually gentle hook sets. The rod is pretty flimsy. I caught the heck out of fish that day. Perhaps all the experts aren't really right about how to set a circle hook.

      Thanks for asking. I won't be revealing any exact fishing spots. I don't want to be know as a "Spot Burner". I live in South West Florida. Fish around rocks, flats, oyster beds with drop offs, bridges or places where there's strong moving current...You'll catch fish in any city if do that...Catching fish is all about finding them. It's not so easy to find them, but when you do, don't blab to the world about exactly where! I hope you subscribe Nicolas!

      Hi Lindsey, thanks for commenting. I don't reveal the names of places that I fish. There's a term among fishing video creators on CZcams know as "spot burner". I don't want to be the guy who tells "exactly" where to catch fish. It just seems like the wrong thing to do in my opinion. If locals recognize a place that's fine, but I don't want to be blamed for a good fishing spot getting burned out due to announcing specific locations. Glad you watch the video and do hope you've subscribed.
