How to make the PERFECT CHICKEN SHAWARMA

- Shawarma
Recipe makes 4 medium shawarma
* 1.5 lb chicken(2 large chicken breast) divided into two.
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon cumin
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper(red pepper)
* 1/4 cup unsweetened yogurt
* 2 tablespoons oil
* 4 hotdogs
* Pocket pita bread(You can find pocket pita at Mediterranean stores or restaurants)
Secret sauce:
* 1/4 cup mayonnaise
* 2 tablespoons ketchup
* 1-2 tablespoons sriracha sauce( substitute with 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper)
* 1/2 teaspoon mustard
* 1 teaspoon sweet chili sauce(substitute with 1/2 teaspoon sugar)
* 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Veggies:
* 1 cup Cabbage
* 1 medium carrot
* 1/4 cup red cabbage(optional) - Jak na to + styl

This is a perfect Nigerian Chicken Shawarma, maybe the confusion is because she didn't add NIGERIAN to the title. This is how we've been making and eating it since it came into Nigeria. Make una no vex

@Hyena Man Nah. Every global meal is permitted to be modified to give it a local taste. I’m Nigerian, currently living in Middle East and I can tell you that my taste bud still doesn’t like the Lebanese sharwama sold here. There is nothing like the shawarma sold in Nigeria 🙌
You can blame the Lebanese in Nigeria for altering your national food. Guess they had to adapt the recipe to suit our taste bud and make sales.
@Hyena Man like I mentioned, Nigerians did not invent shawarma in Nigeria. The Lebanese did. If they changed the recipe, blame it on them. The same way Jollof Rice originated from Senegal, but the Nigerian recipe is tastier to an average Nigerian.
You don't have to fight everyone in the comment section to make your point, we get you. But no one is going to switch to the Turkish recipe because the taste is too bland for an average Nigerian.

I was in Thailand a few years ago and i tried some shwarma from some guy selling it as street food, he said he is Lebanese, its the best shwarma i have had thus far. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to cooking but maybe i will try this recipe if/when i have the time

I once was a stout proponent of the original shawarma first introduced to me by a nice Syrian man. Upon my return to the states I couldn’t find the same tasty shawarma from new your to dc smh.
When I saw the Nigerian version I was skeptical 🧐 because of the added beef hotdogs or “sausage”. But let me tell you …. JUST TRY ONE please, before you judge. I went to 3 Ts shawarma in Houston and I was sold. ADD THE “SAUSAGE” (hotdog) dag on it!! Your taste buds will not regret it . Good food is good food and this right here is scrumptious 😋
