I had to repair a Honda GX35 engine ( it's an overhead cam engine) which was like that a bit over 3 years ago because my dad tends to store it hanging upside down therefore oil.seeps past the piston rings then pools into the combustion chamber.
The downside of that is carbon buildup,he was using it one day & the carbon built up that much on the inlet valve that it held it open & it stopped on him.
He couldn't get it started again so I ruled that it had no compression so I pulled it down & found that the inlet valve had a big blob of carbon on it.
I cleaned the valves & the rest of the engine,I reused the old piston rings then I just reassembled it & he's still using it.
It's a little bit smoky (it burns a tiny bit of oil) probably partially due to the way it's stored but it's also 20 years old,I am just going to wait until it dies completely before either replacing the piston rings or replace that & replace the cylinder & crankcase assembly if the cylinder is too worn or damaged !

Hi, this has a splash system? So how does oil get up to the tappet area? Same splash? No pumps on these type? I got a 24cc Yardking trimmer and it makes no smoke or smell BUT seems to use a tablespoon of oil every 30mins?? i have to keep topping up little 70mm sump. There is plenty of air coming out of breather and spits a bit there too. Thinking somehow the piston ring might be stuck or worn bore area from last user might have run it dry of oil ect. Rockers go up and down a lot so cam might be ok. Watched you video just as prep to pull apart.

This is a 4-stroke overhead valve motor, and that is the cam gear and lobe that opens the intake and exhaust valves. As for israelis or star of david, better not get into politics!! Just teasing typo.
