"Andrew Ng from the Singapore Institute of Technology's engineering cluster said a 'bug' in the signalling system software could be the culprit"... are you serious? Signalling is supposed to be fail-safe. Somebody could have died! In the old days there is physical interlocking to make such errors impossible, because signal-related train collisions had of the worst fatality count in history. This is like an elevator being able to go up and down with the doors wide open due to a short circuit.
the driver is the last line of defence. news report said that even he failed to apply brakes. he literally just watch the train go kiss backside.

mailerdiablo it was failsafe. So when it failed, it would be safe. They programmed the trains to stop if they were going on for too long. And that's what they did. The trains stopped 10 meters away from each other before starting again. If they hadn't fixed this from a similar crash 30 years ago, many more people than 0 would have died. Besides, I study computer science, and I find it terrifying that two lines of code in a million can cause a bug like this.
10 years or 15 years ago trains were very smoothly in operation but these few years getting worst. Slow moving, jam, stuck and faulty. Tracks fault, train fault, engine burned, this and that faults. High rank and well paid people keep talk and talk tons of excuses but no effective action adopted. Every day the same faults repeated. Slowly slowly waiting for..............?
Dear CEO of SMRT, Stop letting these mistake over and over again and upgrade/update your company. Otherwise, everyone will rely on private cabs. Like Grab or uber. Yours Faithfully, your loyal passenger
Ok so people are saying like "ohh must understand that SMRT is doing their best" and all but three breakdowns with a major unspeakable accident of trains colliding and in the same day? Sorry I don't think they're trying at all.
Its bad that it keep jamming and breaking down, but this technology is kinda old and they're rushing the lines and all since people keep wanting to use it. Tbh i dont really mind since i hardly ever take the mrt unless it further away or that im rushing but i do hope smrt can solve these kinds of problems with ease soon
In physics, the observer effect is the fact that simply observing a situation or phenomenon necessarily changes that phenomenon. This is often the result of instruments that, by necessity, alter the state of what they measure in some manner. A commonplace example is checking the pressure in an automobile tire; this is difficult to do without letting out some of the air, thus changing the pressure. Similarly, it is not possible to see any object without light hitting the object, and causing it to reflect that light. Therefore, it's the reporter's fault for reporting on this.
You people have nothing to complain about, so you start to make a big deal about 2 trains colliding with no casualities? Humans make mistakes sometimes, whoopdi-fucking-doo. You all should be grateful for the speed and efficency this was handled in. Try to act at least a bit less entitled next time.
Raphael Tang for me, paid not paid, it doesn’t matter. We’re all humans so spread sum love and not hate yo 👍🏽. I’m sure they wouldn’t want this to happen either
and you want to have driverless buses... wow.

The last crash (at Clementi) was not caused by the signalling system.
When will SMRT ever learn...
mailerdiablo never.
mailerdiablo SMaRT
SMRT is damm smart. Saying oh new signalling system that blah blah blah...
So this the result that SMaRT got I will say SMRT is a genius
They only know earn money

See the som guy turn his friend around
"Eh eh look they're taking video, let's turn around and pretend we're working to make it seem like we're trying to fix the problem"

Femfy Gesth boom
Femfy Gesth Well to be fair, the theory could be defend by saying as things get older, problem tends to arise
Simple. Technology progressing too fast, the trains can’t keep up.
Stop complaining bloody hell. Left palms down!

Oh im sry if u are blaming the captain then its not their fault. Blame the fucking new system
Y'all shouldn't blame SMRT. It's the fuckin LTA come on. SMRT only runs it. LTA decides almost everything.

Have you seen the train system in Japan. And yet you still say we have it easier than others.
TheKnown iYukiro japan is miles ahead, compare SG with SEA countries
