Thanks for the presentation! Nothing like the sound of a Guards Band!💂📯💂📯💂🇬🇧💂📯💂📯💂📯💂📯
That was the best. In my teens, I played with a 48 Highlanders of Canada which had a concert band attached to the pipes and drums band. I remember fondly many of these marches and actually had a great time playing this music. I also remember we had an international tattoo in which we were joined by none other than the Royal Marines, now that raise our standards.
Outstanding clip; thank you, Sarah W. 🌹🌹🌹
👍
Superb interviews and beautiful music. This vid will never age.
Great video Sarah, nice to see the band members up close. I auditioned in 1971 for the Coldstrean Guards and got sent to The Queen's Royal Irish Hussars. Always remember being auditioned by the then Capt. Trevor le Mare Sharpe LVO OBE.
We're glad you liked it! 😊
Some beautiful horn sounds at the end. Well done guys!
Love this video, excellent work Sarah!
3:50 In my time as sound technician for my college marching band, I'd always check the weather to see if I could get out of lugging a whole sound system around a parking lot.
Very Entertaining! Loved the end...
Sarah, There is a long history of Horn players in British Military bands. Fred Harris, a Horn player, was the Director of the Band of the Grenadier Guards during the Coronation of the present Queen. Dennis Brain was a member of the Royal Air Force Central band during World War II. The British March composer Kenneth J. Alford (Frederick Joseph Rickets) was a Horn player and wrote some really nice Horn parts in some of his marches. (trio of Army of the Nile). So it has not been all after-beats and marching.
All this time, I thought that Kenneth J. Alford was a solo cornet player
very good. Guards and Berline Philharmoniker, the best mix.
Excellent☺☺☺

Well I mean at the start, Rule Brittania was playing, not sure thats an army tune but more of a naval tune
Rule Brittania was the Regimental March of the Royal Norfolk Regiment, which later became part of the Royal Anglians, so most certainly a Regimental march of the British Army.
Also as a link to the Household Division- the old 3rd Battalion of the Grenadiers once served as Marines and, as such, were given the right to play Rule Britannia before the National Anthem. Since their disbandment, 3GG's traditions are now invested in 'Inkerman Company' of 1GG.

What is the difference between gold chevrons and white chevrons?
hoseman317 gold chevrons denote a Sergeant while silver chevrons denote a lance sergeant
hoseman317
thank you
I guess then that this also applies to corporals?
No as in the guards corporals are lance-sgt's
Funny end. hahaha
