Very late to comment but thank you for not running the train at 220mph :) I see to many youtubers running their trains like they want to be sponsored by Nascar.
Well done John! If this is your 2nd video ever then you have done an amazing job. You are easy to listen too and very clear talking... the video is well thought out and nice to watch (very stable) with good lighting. Your thought path to your new layout - the room, the track, the drawings, your scenery... you have nailed it. Everyone goes thru this process but in different ways. Ultimately layouts are never finished, merely a work in progress. I look forward to your next video! Pete (Sydney, Australia)
Hi Jon, Well done and thought out. I hope you can post some updates soon. Would love to see your progress. How do you like the Heki Rock Foil. I used Shaper Sheet to get the same rock effect and then painted it the color I wanted to look like tunnel rock. Try the Flood Coal Loader from Millhouse River Studio. I bought one last year at York from Alan Zamorski (Great Guy by the way) It's very well done and works great. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the Flood Loader. Take care,Tim
You are building an excellent layout, John. It's an inspiration to me since I will have a similar size room when our new house is finished. Take care, Joe
Nice update John and the layout is coming along, and your right if the cat can stay on top of the foam, then it is strong enough to hold what ever you put on the scene cheers Robert
Very well done. I have the same color King Kong Kitty on my layout. Your video motivates me to get down stairs and lay some track. Thank you for sharing your bliss!
Hi John - "GO STATE" - Like all your layout objectives. You are doing great, look forward to seeing more. • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
PghTrainFanatic I just binge watched all of your layout updates... they were really good. Please check me out... I just started my channel a week ago ;) Thanks
John, been 5 years. can we see your progress since this video? Im starting my o gauge channel targeting june 1,2022 as target date to post my first video so I know the work behind videos. These 2 vids are excellent. Im having problems getting my walkthru to work and since my collections has many very heavy mth premier engines, a walkthru with no hangups, bumps, or derails is essential. I like that you avoided a walkthru with your turnarounds, and often, very often wish I had done the same . my layout is 18 ft by 24ft, o gauge
Hi John...Great video's, I love your layout design. I have a few suggestions if you don't mind. First paint the plywood flat black before you lay the tracks. Second finish the inside of the tunnels. Looking forward to #3. Frank
Hey John, post more videos man. Your layout is super clean, and you explain things very clearly. Hope all is well with you and look forward to seeing your updates.
Great job! I have "N" "HO" and O-scale, I love the n scale for inside, but I love the O scale for detail I had a nice O-scale layout, then I had a house fire , so I'm starting again lol
Well don update john. You have a nice selection of engines and rolling stock. John are you going to make more videos of your train layout? I would like to see how the layout is progressing. Where did you purchase the girder bridge materiel? Thanks for sharing your train layout. Greetings from New Jersey
what a well thought out layout! Also starting one in a room very similar to yours, 25 x 12. Track plan seems to have changed (matured) since vid #1. ANy chance we could see the layout drawing ¿ would you consider sharing any scarm or rrt files ¿ Most of all, thanks for making and sharing this video.
John great 2nd video.John will you be installing the rock materiel in the tunnel? When you build the mountain will you use a materiel under the cardboard to support and shape the mountain? I'm still looking for a way to build my mountain on my layout. I like the way you are using Styrofoam to build the tunnel. What is the thickness of the Styrofoam and where did you perches the Styrofoam? Nice train action. Thanks for sharing.
John you have a great beginning to your layout. We do a 22' X 44' layout that is built from the ground up in 6 weeks. Look at our videos and you can get a lot of Ideas on what is possible. I can answer any questions that you might have on how to build your layout. Believe me we have tried a lot of different methods over the 30 years that we have been doing our display. I have one question though what on the grade of the track in the rear? We exclusively use MTH trains even though once in a while we test run some Lionel engines. We use 4 Z transformers and 3 TIU's. Just recently we changed to LED stage lighting for our day to night lighting. If you should have any Questions that you feel we might be able to answer feel free to contact me. Good LuckBob OWise Ave. VFD Train Garden Committee.
Okay, so I got up to let the cat in in the middle of this video, thinking it was my cat wanting in, and come to find out it is your cat doing all the talking.

Impressive layout! How do you get the train to run so smoothly at slow speeds? Is that thanks to your higher end controller vs a low end Lionel cw-40?
Very nice layout .Like your first video. did you design the bases.if so what size lumber did you use?
what made you decide to go with mth track? im debating on mth or lionel fastrack myself but cant decide yet.
I think it is gonna come out just fine.
Hi John, looks great. What was the minimum corner radius/ diameter you got away with?. Thanks
Very nice.

nice up date :{)
Great start
O scale is 2 rail DC not 3 rail.
Incidenti
Built a few layouts, get bored quickly. A lot of work ahead of you, takee a cue from the cat who is yawning... stop talking and do it.
