    Enjoy guys :) just so you know the Benro is cheaper than the Manfrotto in the US, however it's now the opposite in Europe (i'm sure due to import costs etc). The odd thing is the Benro was £10 cheaper in the UK when I wrote the content for this vid not long ago

      Great review! Thanks. Would you trust either of these tripods to support a stripped down C100mkii?

    Awesome vid and review. I'm torn which way to go. But the Monopod option has me leading toward the Benro. Good job on Vid. Thumbs Up and Liked.

    I would say that anyone looking at these should purchase whichever one is most affordable when you're buying. I got the Manfrotto for $120 so I pulled the trigger. If the Benro was on sale like that, I would have taken that and I would be shooting the same way I am now. Great video. Love the channel.

    That monopod feature is great idea!
    Btw does the fluid head on Aero 2 have tension adjustment? This is something I', missing on the BeFree Live.

    Very good comparison. I'm currently studying in china and planning to make a travel video. As I went to tried them both inthe store I kinda lean toward manfrotto compactness but the Benro's price is currently half of the Manfrotto here.

    Thanks for this review! Some great info there and the only video i could find that compares there two tripods head to head.
    One question thought. Does the head of either camera allow the camera to be fixed vertically as you would to take a portrait shot? Or do both require a L-shaped bracket?

  • @stevenakkersdijk
    @stevenakkersdijk Před 4 lety

    Thanks for this review man! Helped me outs heaps. I often film in strong winds (film a lot for kiteboarding) so I was a sceptical about both of these. Did you ever give the Benro Aero 4 a try? It's only a bit havier, but seems way more sturdy with a 4kg max payload and bigger extension.

  • @videoadventures5864
    @videoadventures5864 Před 5 lety

    Is the Manfrotto baseplate interchangeable with the Benro head? I am now working with two Manfrotto tripods, one Manfrotto monopod. I have Manfrotto baseplates on three Canon XA10 video cameras. I max out the airline 23 kilo allowance. And the fatigue and many components make for errors. I need to jerk an XA10 off one tripod and onto another without changing baseplates.
    Also, have you traveled international with the tripods? The Manfrotto video ads show a traveler with the tripod strapped to the exterior of the backpack.
    In the past, I traveled with tripods secured to the exterior of a LowePro equipment roller.
    Airlines now make trouble at irrational moments. If sponsored by the government, the national airline will not make trouble. If flying a commercial for a non-government project, anything can happen at anytime.
    One centimeter over length? Long argument. With threats of confiscation and no-fly.
    What is your experience?

  • @CyrilMnc
    @CyrilMnc Před 6 lety

    Hi. Thanks a lot for the review. Does these tripods can take "small" slider on them ? Including the fact that an extra Head needs to be mounted on the slide. Seems the Legs and the Head can take it but I wonder about the Leveling Base max payload of it.
    Cheers !

  • @KevinSwan10200
    @KevinSwan10200 Před 6 lety

    The benro aero 2 is a 2.5kg job and that is why they have an aero 4 which is the same capacity as the manfrotto befree live. Perhaps you might consider comparing the 4kg tripods with 4kgs loaded as a video. The aero 4 is a quite a bit more expensive so if the manfrotto can handle the same weight it wins hands down. Well maybe a bit of a raise on one hand for the monopod aspect on the benro but with such a light tripod why would you need a monopod anyway?

  • @richardellingworth4484
    @richardellingworth4484 Před 5 lety +1

    I have a Benro video head much like the one shown. Is it just me or does anyone else find the knob that tightens up on the quick release plate a pain? The lever on the knob fouls on the camera unless you are really careful how you position the camera on the plate, making it nigh on impossible to tighten up! This might not be a problem when using a stonking great lens with a mounting foot, but if using a smaller lens and attaching the quick release plate to the camera, rather than the lens, then I do find this annoying. The Manfrotto equivalent knob does not have this problem.
    Neither tripod uses a quick release plate that is Arca Swiss compatible, which bugs me as well. All the spare quick release plates I have are useless with either tripod.
    Having said all this, the BeFree Live does the job, and isn't too heavy.

    Hey Harv just a question, when you're grading slog2 footage do you first convert the slog footage to rec709 or just start using the sliders to color correct the footage then proceed to colour grading? Would really appreciate it if you reply 😊

    • @HarvVideoAudioStuff
      @HarvVideoAudioStuff  Před 6 lety

    I adore my Manfrotto 190 tripod, it's my go-to tripod. BUT the Be-Free was so "spindly" on its fully-extended legs I sold it. I may check out the Benro. BTW Doesn't Benro own Manfrotto now? You might check out the MeFoto Globetrotter; much more stable than the Manfrotto Be-Free (and it has an Arca-Swiss plate and monopod leg like the Benro does.

    • @Kindersama
      @Kindersama Před 6 lety

      Manfrotto is owned by the Vitec Group (which also owns Gitzo, SmallHD, Sachtler, etc.)

  • @Grafenfoto
    @Grafenfoto Před 6 lety

    The payload of a tripod has nothing to do with stability it just tells you how much weight the Clamps can hold. Usually the Manfrotto clamps can much more than they say in the specs.

    • @HarvVideoAudioStuff
      @HarvVideoAudioStuff  Před 6 lety +1

      Indeed, however I only have the official specs to go on. It’s likely benro underrate their payload as well

    • @Grafenfoto
      @Grafenfoto Před 6 lety

      I am writing a review and the Monopod was giving up at slightly more that 10 Kilogramms. BUT that was in a warm environment. I bet when I get out in the winter the clamps won´t hold as much. Also you cannot vary the tension in te clamps. I really want to like the Benro, but the clamps making that impossible

  • @glitchlife4639
    @glitchlife4639 Před 6 lety +1

    The benro aero 2 has a massive design flaw, when converting to a mono pod the cheap plastic inside has a nasty habit of breaking making the entire tripod useless.

    • @pineapple3037
      @pineapple3037 Před 6 lety

      GlitchLife : yea saw that in a lot of reviews, I think as long as you’re careful with it, there shouldn’t be a problem, but that in itself kind of removes a bit of the run and gun/quickness aspect of the tripod which could be a big issue for some.
