    There have been quite a few updates to DScan over the last few years so I figured it was time to make a new Directional Scanning Guide to show the new features and method of scanning a system to find targets.

    Using scanning probes on 15 and 5 degree holes after you have a general sense of direction. That mixed with the cosmic sites depending on the ship is really all you need. Not even a complete scan if you trust your judgment and experience. Using those methods I've cut scan time in half basically. Then put it all on hotkeys. Then just used more experience with when I was getting killed with knowing what people will usually do in panic, it's so easy. Don't pvp much anymore but it's still fun to drop on people and say hi

  • @Ed-ty1kr
    @Ed-ty1kr Před 4 lety

    Funny how he mentioned its where you look that determines the angle of scan, not where you align your ship. I remember making that mistake, but I don't remember a cone back then as a visual interpretation. The cone interpretation made a big difference in understanding how this occurs. I would sometimes wonder if that was a cone or a square, due to Eve's sometimes strange game dynamics. I figured it was probably a square, because it would be easy to calculate. But its round or conical. By placing yourself higher or lower vertically on the solar plain you can test this to be true. Hmm... Now I'm back to wondering if planets orbit. Although I did notice them spinning or rotating on their axis, I never noticed or checked if they circle the sun, like they are supposed to. There is something you can check with your directional scanner over a day or two, see if planets actually orbit, or if they are just boring static objects in space.

    Good vid, I have a tab with moons. You can scan them providing they are in range simply by clicking on the moon in overview and thumbing my space bar...don’t have to have your view cluttered. You can also use that moon tab for a quick bounce to gate when traveling through hostile space. Have flown through some heavy smart bomb camps, laughed in local then disappeared. When traveling on a hunt ALWAYS create a safe space/perch and create that perch off the beaten path like one random moon to another at an odd distance. Never gate to gate perch or gate to sun at the half way point...too easy to find those.

    • @anthonyzullo
      @anthonyzullo Před rokem +1

      Since I do PI also and also use them has warp offs I'm systems I regularly don't have issues or in panic. It made me make an entire OV tab with unlikely places to be at depending on ship. Rarely seen combat ships at the sites compared to indy though. I give up though after a first attempt doesn't work. No reason to stick around imo.

    Couple of questions... Does using the lower degree give you longer scan distance for example: is the 14.3AU going to show 7.15AU in front and 7.15AU in back when using the "360" whereas the the 5degree will show 14.3 in front of you?
    Also can you make a video of someone with a bubble or camping a gate? Thank you.

  • @harrikolehmainen8725
    @harrikolehmainen8725 Před 3 lety

    Hi. I got a question about finding stuff thats not on the overview. To be more specific, what is the range that enables you to actually warp to any of that stuff? Like if Im trying to find a ship, that is not on the overview, but I can see him/her on my D-scanner? So I begin warping from point a to point b in order to find out where this guy actually is. I create bookmarks that I can warp into, and repeat in order to get closer. I was just wondering, that what is the actual maximum distance, that allows me to warp to that specific object that I want to find. Whether it´s a ship, wreck or something else.

  • @2300cbrown
    @2300cbrown Před 7 lety

    Doesn't the dscan work in conjunction with the selected overview tab? If so, this means that selected overview tab would have to have the appropriate box selected. What boxes should be checked?

  • @razorbackblood06
    @razorbackblood06 Před 7 lety +1

    • @Prometheus4096
      @Prometheus4096 Před 4 lety

      So apparently this is to get location information because a 360 scan only tells you how far away something is. Not the direction. So by limiting the direction of the scan, you know the thing you scanned must be in that cone.
