How to Change a Drill Bit

- The same Black and Decker drill used in the video is available at the link below. We got it as a wedding present and it has been very handy for little projects around the house. However, if you're going to be doing a lot of drilling with big projects, then I definitely recommend a Milwaukee or DeWalt, something a little bigger with more power. There are a bunch of others available, so do whatever works best for you.
Here is the link (you'll need to copy and paste) for the same drill in the video:

Here's one with a lot more power for bigger projects:

Thank you man. Somehow I grew up and found myself with a family and home and now I have to do man stuff. This absolutely confused me. Lots of videos just skip over this probably because they learned it when they were like 5. But I needed this level of detail and I finally understand how to use this thing.
I’m glad that this could help! Good luck with all your future stuff man!
Haha fr I'm 24 got certified at 19 for HVAC technician and always worked construction same as working on vehicles but never actually needed it outside of those things now I got a new place and new car plus an 11 month baby girl out of nowhere life changed hahaha
Seriously, us too! Like, celebrating with you that it's second nature to you (others), but the rest of us need step by step help bc no one ever taught us! Lol
You’re not alone! I grew up without a dad, so I’ve always had to learn stuff on my own. Putting a new screen door and handle on was quite a task without any experience I must say. Glad I’m not alone!
Did you play with dolls as a kid?
What was so absolutely wondrous about this is it was so simple. It was not complicated. He didn’t overtalk it. He didn’t try to get you to figure anything else out. That’s just what I needed. Thank you so much.
I love when people get straight to the point! Thank you!!
Thank you!! You took your time, you showed everything and that's exactly what I needed. Bravo to you Sir!!
Thank you. This was so helpful. I was lost and other videos were useless
@@juniorlandsberg4142 glad to help! Best of luck on all your projects. You got this!
It doesn't matter how many times I use a drill, I always forget how to do this for some reason. Thanks for making it quick and easy.
I am a new homeowner who just bought a drill , thank you so much 😭😭
Thank you sooo much! I was going crazy! 😂😂 Greetings from Brasil!
@@fabiocaldeiraz de nada vê! Tou feliz que o vídeo te ajudou. Morei no Brasil por dois anos e sinto tanta falta daquele país! Vai com deus irmão!
Thank you! As a girl, my dad never cared to teach me stuff 😢 Even though I’m now married, I like to be able to do basic things for myself and not have to wait for my husband to assemble small things. I really appreciate this video.
I’m very glad that these videos are helpful and I’m very happy to help you learn this stuff! We all need to learn everything somewhere. Best of luck on all your projects. You got this!
You saved big time,
Thanks man.
Thank you! I was confused on how deep the bit had to go in before securing. This was very helpful !!
If it's your first time, For health and safety you should always disconnect the battery from the cordless drill so you don't hurt yourself and others in the process.
What? No why would you do that

Thank you so much! You saved us countless hours❤
Oh my goodness, you save me, my sir. I bought a power drill couple years ago. Maybe it was a year ago. But regardless was never able to use it. Because I didn't know how to change the stupid drill bit until your video saved me🫠🤩🤩🤩🤗🙌🏼🫶🏼
thank you!! After watching 5 other videos I finally understand 🥳🥳
I've always just held the back dial and pull the trigger in the loosen direction then do the same in the tighten direction to secure the bit.
That works too! That’s when you know you’re a pro!
Omgggg thank you so much, I bought mine today and there were instructions in the box on how to use it
Thank you! I did it in one second with your explanation
Thank you very much. I’m changing something on my bike and I needed help.

No problem man, best of luck on your stuff!
Thanks that was helpful
@@theresasmith9207 I’m glad it was helpful! Best of luck on your projects and stuff!
I guess you could do it this way, but can also hold the chuck while pressing the trigger, have it turning right to tighten, left to loosen
Thank you!! 💙💙
Super helpful 👌
thank u man u saved meee
Thank you so much. That really help. ❤
Omg, thank you so much 😅 I was over here struggling
I’m so glad it was helpful! Best of luck!
Very simple and easy thanks 😊
You should do "advance " video. Hold bit in center while holding chuck and pull trigger. Much easier and faster once you get use to it.
Normally extension with bit depending on its size, something that size should have extension to make life easier :)
That’s a great idea, thank you!
Might not be safe but I’ve always held the chuck and let the drill do the work.
Thank you so much…. My first time ❤
Thank you..I was getting so frustrated lol
super helpful thank you!! ❤
I’m glad it helped! Best of luck!
Super simple, thanks!
Jako kobieta i laik w tym temacie, dziękuję Ci za szybką lekcję☺️👍💪🥰🌹🌹🌹
Thanks 👍
Thanks alot 😊
You need a bit holder first then the bit unless if it's a impact ready bit
THANK YOU!❤
Thank you! You’re a good man
Thanks, I appreciate you!
Thank you
Thanks my husband will be so proud!
Thank you so much I was so oblivious lol
Thank you my friend 😊😊😊

This was helpful. Idk why I couldn't figure this out😫
No worries, we got you! I’m glad it helped
THANK YOU!!!!!! ❤
Thank you!!!
Thank u☺️
Thanks❤❤❤❤
Thank you bro
Thanks you sir 🙏🏽
I got it thank u so much
Oh good! Best of luck on your projects!
I've never ever done it that way. I flip it to loose, hold the end of the drill with the hand that I'm holding the drill bit in, engage the trigger until it opens far enough to get in there, switch it back to tight until an engage the trigger until I hear a few clicks
❤❤❤love you dude
Thank you
Thanks man!
Thakyou so much😊
i love you thank you
Looove it!! Thanks🎉
Always turn it one click back after tightened it locks the chuck just a pro tip!
Nice! Thank you for that
Thank you soo much!!
Thanks
Thank you so much. I just KNEW I was missing a part. 😂 Thank you, again.
How do you gauge how far you should insert a small screw bit, (like the one in your vid)?
Good question! So you’ll notice that the drill bit is split in half between the pointed end that goes into the screw, and the long end with flat edges. The part with the flat edges is called the “shank” (you can look it up to see a picture if you need to). The shank is what is fully inserted into the drill. Basically, put it in until the flat-edges aren’t showing. I hope that makes sense! Best of luck!
@@smallsimplestuff2791
Thanks! So can I insert a small bit that doesn't hit the back of the chuck and just tighten the chuck even though it's not hitting the back like a "normal" sized longer bit?
Because I feel like certain small bits that came with my screw bit set were specially made for the bit holder/extender that came with the set. Does THAT make any sense? Lol.
@@jaykob2482 Yeah I think so. As long as the bits aren’t too short for the chuck, it should work fine for smaller or shorter bits. The only thing that really matters is that the bit is firmly held by the drill.
You can double check with the manufacturer to be sure but I’d think it’d be fine.
Best of luck to ya!
My man!!
Thank you, Dad.
Thanks, if it wasn't mine I would figure it out myself xD
How far inside do you put the bit? Whats the rule, do you put all drill bits in till it stops or do you put in without it stopping?
The bit is split into two main parts- the body (which includes the point) and the shank (the part with the flat edges). You want to put the entire shank into the drill, leaving the entire body poking out. Does that make sense? Basically just put in the flat-edged part.
Thank you ❤❤
Instead of doing this just hold the top part put your drill on tighten and pull the trigger while holding the top or the chuck with the other hand. To loosen just do the opposite and turn the drill to turn left for loosen and it comes back out.
Thanks daddy!
Thx
Thanks now i can be able to modified hotwheels
Thank you soo much
