To all of you complaining about the "sex" in this section, it is not there because "sex sells", it is a representation of the change that the Celtic Tiger brought to Ireland through the 90s and 00s, how Ireland has become "Americanised", hence her dashing, sparkly bikini.
Speaking as a completely objective third party observer with absolutely no personal interest in the matter...this shit's FANTASTIC. Not Irish dancing by any means. But FANTASTIC.
First of all is that Michael Flatley is a performer/businessman. His willing to push the boundries of traditional areas. You still have the Irish dance but he also mixed a few other cultures too.
someone should hire her as a USO girl to go overseas and entertain the troops, they'd love her! and i agree that those that are insulted, please lighten up or get a sense of humor or something.
@neil123000 I'm glad someone on here has a sense of perspective. I mean really, it is quite rediculous to 'hate on' one scene from a whole fantastic movie.
I saw this show with my parents when I was like 14 and my sister was 12.... this was a pretty weird moment in the show, but I guess sex really does sell...
aaah yes, I remember the story my father told me about when the Irish came to America.. they were harrased by Michael Flatley and his crew and sexually awoken.
Guys!! Seriously this isnt bad by amy means... its different to say the least but it isnt bad........... I mean the problem I have with it is that theres no magic in it, at least from my perspective... unlike Riverdance which captures my heart every time I watch it. But this isnt bad
@HungaricusDominatus The Irish culture was all in the beginning, did you actually watch the movie? I see it as this scene depicting how Irish Dancing moved around the world and landed in America. That's all it is in this scene. A nice Irish lass being flown off to America where she adapted to their culture. This is where Irish Dancing became Americanised. You can see it in ADA with their glitzy costumes and wigs. No one's traditional any more. Clearly you don't understand the true message.
This dancer (definitely NOT a stripper as you can tell by her virtually fat-free body) is actually one of the best classical ballet dancers in England (yes, she's British, NOT american). To those believing Irish dance should stay the same forever: One of the greatest things about dance is it's ability to change and adapt. If we were all to only stick to our original ideas about dance we would still be dancing 2 feet away from each other, our ankle-covering dresses dragging to the floor.
I know you're joking, but you are right about one thing:in real life what they did to that woman would be called sexual harassment. I wonder if he would do that to someone in real life.
Okay, one thing, we may be American's but we like Irish Dance for Irish dance. Not to see people half naked, cuz their shirts cut so low, not for stripper air pilots, or creeper guys and crap like that.
Githicvampiressgwen I agree!!!!!! It's sad that Michael has to show this kind of female image! He can say, "it's for the story" all he freaking wants, but it is just sick!!! Think of how many young girls were out there watching that! And I thought the strip in stolen kiss in fof 2000 was bad....
It's kind of disappointing that the man who inspired a generation to take up Irish dance now features live strip shows in his performances. I saw this live with an eight year old girl in the seat next to me. Her guardian felt morally obligated to cover her eyes until this was over. I can see the point Flatley is trying to make with this act, but it has about as much appeal and aesthetic relevance as the cheerleaders act.
I am surprised that Michael Flatley is involved with this!I have never watched this before and I don't think I will watch the entire show!I think that being sexy is ok being slutty is totally different! If she wanted to be in a show where she gets down to her skivvies then she should be in a burlesque revue or strip club!
well, no. if you follow the story of the show properly - which a young girl taking irish dancing lessons should do - you'd know that it is about the history of ireland and irish heritage, and about the freedom of the irish being able to travel. it might not be typical irish dancing, but flatley can do whatever he likes! this is one little scene, and the strip is about 2 minutes long. get a grip and be a bit more open minded.
I don't find anything bad to say about the person performing the dance, just the actual choreography and the idea of the dance. If the message is traditional culture losing to a modern, confused, over-sexed culture that enjoys self and other debauchery, then they hit it. Look for even more banal and blantant renditions in a short time. The competition today seems to about who can be the most sexually explicit and shocking.
I think he's trying to appeal to a wider audience by switching from people who like Irish dance to people who like strippers. Judging by the sounds of the audience reaction it worked, which is rather sad.
Maybe that's the point. That it's commercial, it's stripping of the Irish identity. The change of the innocence of Ireland to the... raunchiness of America. The dancing is NOT Irish at all, not traditional irish, comparing this to the Vikings dance.
Awful tripe, all I can say is that I'm glad I didn't see this clip first or I wouldn't have bothered watching the rest it. It's hard to believe that they are from the same performance.
I really don't think this part needed to be in the show. Sex sells, but this isn't at all about dance, so why put it in a dance show? The only people there are people who actually care about dance and are there for the dance aspect, so why put it in there? The possible message behind all this is rather unpleasent as well x.x I really love Michael Flatley, but still.......... no.
Do they have a choreographer, or are they just making it up as they go along? Other posters tell me the rest of the show is better. I mean, how could it be any worse? I have been more entertained by Barney and Friends, which, in my opinion, has superior music and dance moves.
This is seriously bad, not even entertaining. The whole thing is so commercial, and for gods sake, i had to skip the part where that lady is dancing in high heels i mean what the hell?! This isnt even proper irish dance?! all they are doing is walking around a stage occasionly picking up that woman! I dont know how anyone could watch the whole show.
I'm afraid I don't have any respect for Michael Flatley anymore..this goes too far. He realy shows how much of a womanizing bastard he realy is. I loved his work in the past...but have no respect for him...he's destroyed irish dance with stuff like this..something that is so beautiful he managed to make it trashy. Shame on you Michael Flatley.
КАК СЕКСУАЛЬНО!! О БОЖЕ МОЙ!! ЛУЧШИЙ ТАНЕЦ!
It really does:-) I can't believe I even ever watched that show
This is the greatest scene from the celtic tiger film...
Micheal Flatley really jumped the shark with this one.
@Fubeyside I've seen the whole show from beginning to end and there was no need to include a strip show in it, thank you very much.
This is a fantastic show from beginning to end, if you watched the whole show i think you would agree with me.
737, DC10, MD80, 777, 747... nice variety.
My god he looks like Christopher Walken.
that is so uncalled for
5:46 THE BEST PART :))
I agree with you, i cant understand why these people who left comments are getting so irate, it's only a show after all:-)
i would know too, i TAKE irish dancing. plus "Celtic Tiger" is an irish dance show. I should know.
You know, I've traveled on Aer Lingus, and it is nothing like this...
Hey, you gotta admire a woman doing ballet in high heels. That can't be easy.
Irish dancing. She's doing Irish dancing not ballet.
@@marieschofield8453 What's the difference?
Toda una Americana, xD . Buen vídeo ... -(O-o)- = )))
How can she WALK in those shoes and not fall over, lol!
To all of you complaining about the "sex" in this section, it is not there because "sex sells", it is a representation of the change that the Celtic Tiger brought to Ireland through the 90s and 00s, how Ireland has become "Americanised", hence her dashing, sparkly bikini.
It's really a Ryanair commerical in disguise.
OMG i don't want to know how long they had to practice this scene. I mean, I would have tripped every time. I wouldn't wear shoes that high!!!!
Speaking as a completely objective third party observer with absolutely no personal interest in the matter...this shit's FANTASTIC. Not Irish dancing by any means. But FANTASTIC.
Could someone explain to me what part was traditional Irish dance? Because all I saw was a stripper.
irish dancing + stiptease...interesting approach michael flatley.
Look up "The Stripper" by a man named Rose and I bet you can find that early '60s pop rendition of a real classic strip piece.
it is supposed to represtnt the various places and experiences of the irish people throughout history.
It was'nt the opening!
First of all is that Michael Flatley is a performer/businessman. His willing to push the boundries of traditional areas. You still have the Irish dance but he also mixed a few other cultures too.
2:10 oh look they made Michael Flatley look like a Navy captain... this can only get better..... or not -.-
I'm guessing this is the risque they were talking about.
oh my God her leg went no where when she kicked it up!! lol. That is such a shame
I'd say both.
i have to agree this is far from irish dancing quite umm odd however im loving it wooo to the sexy hostess!
@toppaz79 i wanna a ticket for that fly, because i love NY :)
What’s the name of the girl in this act/dance
someone should hire her as a USO girl to go overseas and entertain the troops, they'd love her! and i agree that those that are insulted, please lighten up or get a sense of humor or something.

Geriatric Pervert or choreographic genius? I just cant decide. Subtlety has never been old Flately's strong point has it.
Guys!! Seriously this isnt bad by amy means... its different to say the least but it isnt bad........... I mean the problem I have with it is that theres no magic in it, at least from my perspective... unlike Riverdance which captures my heart every time I watch it. But this isnt bad
EMMERDALE!! LOLZ

This is irish dance????
@Pefuna The only thing I'm jealous is how Flatley can make millions of dollars making this show
This dancer (definitely NOT a stripper as you can tell by her virtually fat-free body) is actually one of the best classical ballet dancers in England (yes, she's British, NOT american). ufff I wish I could do that rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
HAHA!
It's not ballet, it's Irish dancing!
ryanair dance, hehehe
i am sorry..about all the comments..but i thought it was good..the music..dancing the lot !!!
yup this is pretty damn silly
So you like it then.....lmao:-)
@toppaz79
Get over it lol
Githicvampiressgwen I agree!!!!!! It's sad that Michael has to show this kind of female image! He can say, "it's for the story" all he freaking wants, but it is just sick!!! Think of how many young girls were out there watching that! And I thought the strip in stolen kiss in fof 2000 was bad....
his worst piece? well, it´s comletely new...

irish dance..
yeah in agree who the fuck dances iish in heels
BLEH XP I watched this last night and I hated that scene. the rest of it was good but that did not give Ireland or America justice
Probably like the person you will never be?
Dont watch it then!
yeah...but...it still ridiculous...
i thought it was a pretty funny commentary on the difference between "standard" Irish and American dance. hm.
I am surprised that Michael Flatley is involved with this!I have never watched this before and I don't think I will watch the entire show!I think that being sexy is ok being slutty is totally different! If she wanted to be in a show where she gets down to her skivvies then she should be in a burlesque revue or strip club!

it's interesting, the only shame is, that it has nothing to do with irish dancing..
I think he's trying to appeal to a wider audience by switching from people who like Irish dance to people who like strippers. Judging by the sounds of the audience reaction it worked, which is rather sad.
If you do not like Celtic tiger don`t watch it
The sad truth is that sex sells. And Flatley is just trying to cash in. Personally I think he needs to get over himself.
ummmmmm... wtf?
Maybe that's the point. That it's commercial, it's stripping of the Irish identity. The change of the innocence of Ireland to the... raunchiness of America. The dancing is NOT Irish at all, not traditional irish, comparing this to the Vikings dance.
Yeah, I have to agree with you there! lol But, I hate how there is a strip tease in this dance. That's trashy...

I really love Michael Flatley, but still.......... no.
wtf. this isnt irish dancing.
i hate when flatley does that.
This show makes no sense. And it definately did not need this strip tease. Unbelievable.
look at that swagger. flatley can dance like heck but he needs to get over himself a little. it's a turn off.
I am so disgusted. This was NOT irish dancing!! It makes me really angry to think that this is what ID shows have come to.
this is sad...ridiculus
Do they have a choreographer, or are they just making it up as they go along? Other posters tell me the rest of the show is better. I mean, how could it be any worse? I have been more entertained by Barney and Friends, which, in my opinion, has superior music and dance moves.
Quite possibly the worst thing ever.
This is seriously bad, not even entertaining. The whole thing is so commercial, and for gods sake, i had to skip the part where that lady is dancing in high heels i mean what the hell?!

This is just fucking awful! I'm actually lost for words! Hahahahahaha!!!!
Get a life you loser!
This is nothing but cheap and poorly executed las vegas style entertainment.
