Hey Ash, been watching you and Alisha since the first apartment! As a Christian I understand where you’re coming from. I would focus less on what people in church would say, and more on what the Bible and God say. As someone who helps lead worship in church, you are looked at almost as a role model for some of the congregation. Not trying to sound preachy or negative, I just wanted to offer my two cents as a sister in Christ 😊
I deal with the same internal struggle with moving in with your significant other - I also grew up in the church and still have friends that would be against it. I'm still Christian and religious but just more open-minded/modern in my thinking and am strong in my belief that it's fine to do so with the right intentions. So you're not alone with that worry/issue!

I grew up in a church environment too and definitely felt judgement from some of the older members (even my parents/grandmother). Personally, I believe every thing that happens, happens for a reason (either good or bad); and since we've evolved so much as humans/society, I try not to dwell on what older members of the church judge. Because truly in the end it is YOUR life and if your faith in God is still strong then it shouldn't matter what they think (let's face it they aren't free from sin either). Hope that helps a little. 😁❤

I struggled with thr same thing you did as christian girlie who grew up in the church. I was so stressed about peoples\elders opinion on me moving in with my bf. We were also together around 2 years and it was honestly great, we endednup getting married 4 years later and living together helped navigate finances and daily life at such an accelerated rate. I had to get over feeling shame from the church and i think i projected it being a lot worse than it was. You are in a place of growth and it's beautiful!

I'm also a darker blonde. I used to bleach highlights and finally I stopped and I really fell in love with how healthy my hair is now and it's natural color. I LOVE your hair! I wouldn't dye it. I never grew religious but my parents were more conservative/traditional. I moved in with my now husband after dating for a year. We have been together for 13 years, married for 1. We have 2 kids and I don’t regret it. I chose to do what felt right for me.

Hey Ash I came from the podcast years ago and I absolutely love your videos! I moved in with my boyfriend now fiancé six months ago and while it has been really difficult to adjust, I think I’ve learned so much more about him and the transition into marriage will be so much easier. We go to church and grew up in church and I definitely feel judgement for it sometimes which stinks, but it helps to know who really cares about you and who just wants to impose their beliefs on you.
And I love your natural hair color and I know how much work it takes to get to a natural color after lightening my own for so long, so I wouldn’t get the highlights, but if you do I’m sure they will look fabulous💛

Hi Ash! Love watching your videos and appreciate that you were vulnerable with us as I’m sure a lot of people have the same thoughts. I definitely recommend living with your significant other before getting married. I’ve been with my husband for 6 years and we’ve only been married for 1 year but we’ve lived together for about 4 years. We’ve learned so much about each other, like how to be with each other all day long without getting annoyed and frustrated with each other while also giving each other their own space.
After getting married a lot of people asked me how it feels being married and I always tell them that it feels the same as before but the only difference is now it’s official on paper. Living with your significant other of course will need some getting used to but I definitely think it can either make or break a relationship so I can’t stress enough how beneficial it would be to experience before marriage!

I totally get it! I grew up in a very similar church setting. I moved in with my (now husband) when we got engaged, but people still didn't agree with that. but if you're still feeling that way, it could be conviction. Definitely keep praying about it & let God guide you.
You're right, you shouldn't be bothered by what others say, Christians or not but you should be concerned with God's opinion. But... in all honesty, I think you know right from wrong and I'm convinced people will find answers they want to hear instead of what is true.

As a fellow Christian, it can be confusing hearing people in the church talk about what they believe is ok and what isn’t. That’s why we have the Bible! I highly suggest just reading what the Bible says is ok and what it says isn’t ok. The Bible stands true no matter how others feel or deem acceptable! If you’re feeling guilty about it maybe God is using that to reveal something to you, if not the Bible should solidify that decision even more! Love your vlogs and so excited to see more❤
This is one of the best answer's I've seen under this video! Many comments have said "to do what's best for you" and a lot of self-centered advice, which are not necessarily wrong, BUT the Bible stands firm in its word no matter how WE feel.

OMG Ashley, the church's/people from church's opinions really really affected me with living with my now fiance (getting married very soon!)....it is one of the biggest things that give me anxiety. I still don't have a solution for dealing with that, but honestly you sharing that makes me feel a lot better knowing someone else struggles with the same feelings I have. I am involved with my church and into my faith, but knowing many people from the church have strong opinions on me living with my fiance affects me to this day-honestly I feel like it will continue to affect me until we're officially married. I have learned to just accept that moving in with my fiance was SOLELY our decision together, no one else's....and especially since we knew we're gonna marry each other some day made a difference too. Honestly I grew up in church as well but in this day and age there is no way that I would not move in with someone before marrying them. My fiancé have lived together through Covid and majority of our relationship and it hasn’t been easy but I feel like it makes or breaks relationships for sure.

I am originally from Idaho and I moved to California just in the last week. I am glad to know that it will take about 6 months to a year to adjust. Also - with the not showing boyfriend - it's been proven that couples that don't post their significant other usually have a healthier and longer lasting relationship. I also grew up in the church where "rules and regulations" were taught. You're doing great!

I don’t often comment oh youtube or influencers in general but I’ve been following you for years and I felt so in sync with the chat when you where getting ready 🥰 I TOTALLY feel you and understand you on the leaving with a boyfriend growing up in a religious family/community. I went to a private catholic school and college 😅 me and my boyfriend got married in a court hopping & planing a soon wedding in a church, then covid happen and had to pospone the church wedding by 2 years sooo we moved together (I KNOW! We where already married but NOT by the church so I always had that thought in the back of my head of what people would think) but you know what? If you are happy, have mutual goals, really see a future together and ARE NOT HURTING ANYONE… you can let those thoughts go and enjoy your life 🤍🤍🤍
For the hair part: us creative/fun people is a never ending cycle of wanting something different with our hair and later getting tired and wanting our natural and healthy hair. YOUR HAIR IS IN THE BEST SHAPE its been in a long time, but… hair grow!!!! Get the make over and have fun!!!!

If you want to move in with your dude, do it. Worst case scenario, people at the church talk crap about you. Then they’re done with it. They don’t think bad about you before they go to bed at night. Also those haters should not be in your mind at the end of the day when everything is said and done. They are irrelevant. It is YOUR relationship with your man. You know what you’re doing and you know what makes you happy.

I am from Santa Cruz, California and then moved Sacramento area to “get away.” I am so homesick. My fiancé and I have been out here a year now. My fiancés family and my family are still back in Santa Cruz. I am going to finish out junior college and transfer to CSUMB in a 2ish years, so I can be near our family again.

I've seen both sides of when someone wants to move in with their partner. They can be good or bad I've had. I've seen one experience where they knew that they were going to get married so they ended up living together and it worked out. I've seen others where they got married then they live together and then they got a divorce. So it's really up to both of y'all think if you want to add more blonde to your hair that's fine
People will always have thoughts and opinions on almost everything you do in life. I understand not wanting to share your relationship online, the same energy you put out when it came to why; I think you should apply that same energy when it comes to people at church. Ultimately, you have to do what's best for you and makes you happy; opinions will be there regardless of how you decide to live life.
Also growing up Christian, I totally understand your struggle. Especially if you are still in the church and helping out with worship playing drums….my previous church would probably say that we are held at a higher standard…but like other people have been saying to look to the Bible. God has always used anyone who is willing no matter what their deal was. Also god knows your heart and intentions and don’t let judgement from others get to you! ❤❤❤❤
Personally been with my bf 4 years moved in together April and it’s honestly going well I think it’s a good way to see if it works before marriage and I grew up very Roman Catholic and honestly it’s worth living together first there’s a lot that goes on that couples need to figure out

Ash, I want to thank you, I am in college and I also am living alone for my first time and it brings me so much comfort knowing you, (one of my role models) also feels the same as I do sometimes. Anddd I want to thank you for your vulnerability about the church. I am a Christian and I am (i feel like always will be) struggling with finding my balance in what I believe in, having an open/modern mind but also a follower of Christ. I moved in with my boyfriend one year after dating :) Def suggest living together before marriage but also not marinating wedding for too long because we are now 5 years in and marinating :D haha
If you move in with your bf make sure “to save money” is not a primary reason. I’ve seen people move in to save money and although it saved them in the short term, it cost them in other ways in the long run. It’s also putting a price on a relationship in a way-- for example, “I didn’t want to spend an extra 10k on rent, so I’m moving in with you,” aka you don’t think the relationship is worth 10k. Not saying this is your reasoning, not trying to project just offering my random two cents on the topic in general lol! ❤
