    Do you know that planting succulents together in one pot can help prevent overwatering?
    In this video, I will explain to you why.
    When you are dealing with small succulents especially from leaf propagation or harvests from offsets and small cuttings, planting them together can keep them alive because when they are small, they also have small storage spaces. If they absorb too much water, their storage tissues can rupture and they can rot. Therefore plant them together so that they can share the water among themselves.
    For very small succulents, use also small shallow containers. It takes months before they can outgrow the pot. So, you can enjoy them a bit longer.

    Because of reading and hearing "don't overwater your succulents" so many times fortunately I've never lost one to over or under watering. But I must say you give a wonderful tip here in saying not to use soil moisture as the only indicator of water needs as humidty plays a part. So look at the plumpness of the plant leaves. This is my new guide.

    Hello Ms. Theresa! I am very inspired by your videos and how informative each videos are even for a short amount of time. I was wondering if you are open and interested with uploading videos/ tutorials about the following that would perhaps interest a beginner and maybe someone who has more experience in gardening.
    I just stumbled upon your channel today and I’m almost done watching all of your videos. I am pretty sure that you have answered most of the questions I have but I was wondering if you can devote or compile some tips for a beginner like me. Thank you in advance!
    1. Basic tools and equipments for succulent gardening for beginners (pots, propagation trays, shelves etc. scissors, etc.)
    2. Options and recommendations for store brand soil, succulent food and fertilizers, organic fertilizers for beginners
    3. Guide for pebbles, rocks, and other helpful decorative elements that will also help succulent health/ life
    4. Sun exposure and tips for leaf, stem, babies, small, medium, large succulents
    5. Watering tips (general idea of when to water and when to avoid watering, how much water is needed for each succulent pertaining to their respective sizes
    6. Types of succulent health issues (rotting, insect infestation, preventive care etc.)

      Girlie Hanooman the one with red flowers in the barrel arrangement is senecio. Succulents become more colorful when exposed to sunlight, no fertilizers, less humid environment and also when it’s cold.

    Some people who post videos on succulent care mistakenly tell people to water the plants heavily when the soil is bone-dry and do not even mention the condition of the leaves. I live on the humid Northeast Coast, so my cacti and succulents look good even after the soil becomes very dry. My question for you is, after succulent cuttings and leaves callous over and you place them on soil, how often should they be misted?

    • @calins1967
      @calins1967 Před 5 lety +2

      Chaudhry Khan :you have to leave the cuttings in indirect sunlight without watering for two weeks so they can grow roots,then you can move them to areas with direct sunlight ,and because of indirect sunlight the colours start fading to green ,that means they need direct sunlight to retain their colours

    • @ChopstickandSucculents
      @ChopstickandSucculents  Před 3 lety

      Allowing cuttings to callus over for a few days is the safest general advice for beginners. It works for most succulents in any location. But, with the dry area I live in, and using a porous soil mixture that is almost dry, it is also safe to stick them in right away.

      Can I ask you one more question?
      I’m making Succulent Tea cups for my daughters Bridal shower. I’m taking cuttings of my own succulents and I have ordered more cuttings from Etsy.
      From what I’ve researched, I need to put the cuttings into a cactus succulent mix and water right away?
      But I’ve also read to plant them and wait a couple weeks before watering.
      I’m confused on the right thing to do.
      I would be so grateful if you could give me some feedback. Thank you.
