I just saw resplendent quatzal flying from one tree to another here in central Texas. I was screaming at my son. Asking him if he saw that beautiful green bird. He said no.

It has a similar name in Spanish: quetzal resplandeciente. Trogon is a scientific name for the family of birds. The name comes from Greek and the family includes other birds in addition to quetzals.
