    As mentioned before, with having to restrict flow to meet government regs, it's understandable that they have to build the mufflers the way they do to pass inspection....
    That being said, it would be super nice if they would put a knockout plug (like a metal electrical box) to make it quick and easy for the end user to get the designed performance out of the saw 😁

    • @thesmallwoodlot433
      @thesmallwoodlot433 Před rokem +9

      As nice as that would be, the government doesn’t want you to modify anything for better performance, as the excuse of emissions/ and or safety, so manufacturers leave this opportunity alone for the end user, and a lit of these mods will void warranty! The cs590 has a five year warranty! So when I mod mine, it will be done on a second muffler!😂

    hey my friend great video !!! just an FYI, when putting your burr into your foredom or dremil . push the shank all the way in . then just pull it an 1/8 of an inch out and then tighten it . this will prevent bending the shaft as it did, or even breaking it. just a little tip that was pointed out to me by fellow wood carvers ,that helped me out a lot . love your vidios man , keep on sharing your knowledge and what you do !

    This is a great series on the 590. I bought a 590 a couple of years ago and just did a muffler mod to it right away and found out that it was a major hold back of power. I like the results so much that I ended up selling my Stihl MS360 and keeping the little echo. Keep up the good info sharing 🤙

      @@Tatted_gunna I did something very similar to what Tinman has done. Cut open the exit hole and then I went in with a drill bit to punch a bunch of holes in the baffling. It has been awhile but I think that was what I did to open up the muffler on the 590.

    I had to go to the non-bypass main jet just to get it to 2 stroke at 8 thousand feet. I have a 620p and a 600p plus I rebuilt two 590s. Did the carb jet replacement on all of them. I also found with stock porting at altitude, it really lost torque if I tuned it for high rpm. They like to be a bit rich. Echo makes a nice saw. I love that almost all of the screws are the same and you can pull the carb in about 2 minutes. Snug the screws only, no cranking them down or they will strip out. Parts are expensive as well, a negative. Bar sizes are goofy stock too.

    Perfect for video it seemed to be easier for you than having to move in closer and check for being in frame! With all the regulations manufacturers have to comply with restricted mufflers are to be expected. I agree wholeheartedly with porting and getting more fuel in will obviously cause more heat and it needs more space to exit. Looking forward to this build. I’m especially interested in where the high jet ends up afterwards. I’m guessing a turn and an eighth. Thanks for taking the time to video this.

    Really like how you chose to do the muffler mod as it keeps the spark arrestor in use. Like the new camera view set-up as well. Once ported this 590 will definitely out-perform a stock 562. I noticed you didn't show or mention blowing/washing out the metal shavings from the modded muffler. Pretty much a given for the experienced, not so much for a newbie. Love this series on the 590. Huge Echo fan myself... 501P and 620P in my stable.

    I really enjoy your 590 videos, I've been working one professionally now coming up on 5 years (semi-retired tree surgeon on a budget) and beaten the heck out of it over the years, it works wood 3 and 4 times the size its designed for. Never tried to mod it, just run the 24 bar on it and kept it stock but going to give the mod a try.
    BTW, you asked about the new camera angle, I can't see what you're doing most of the time because its facing you so everything you're doing is blocked by what you're working on. Just fyi.
    Thanks again for doing these 590 videos, they're great.

    What I had done with mine was cut open a small spot on the bottom of it, that allowed us to get inside and totally gut the internals, then closed it up. Then welded the existing outlet on the top closed, and then drilled two holes off each corner 3/4 inch and brazed 2 3/4 inch pipes. Looks like a dual port husky muffler now. And it flows now and my 620 absolutely rips., I did what you did first, just drilled out that area and I felt I lost too much bottom end. Too little back pressure. But it still ran good. But not nearly as good as this.
    The other option Tinman is to weld the existing outlet up, then drill and tap the deflector off the front. Of the muffler. And gut the internals.
