    13 at this time! Grew up a rink rat! Thank you Dad for sitting me down and watching history. 2006 made the trip. Walked into that Rink in August, I lost my mind with emotions. Such a small arena! Anyway the greatest TEAM ever

    Mr Craig,
    Thank you for sharing! What a great story! I met some of your teammates from the team, all were real gentlemen. I am sure like all great coaches Mr Brooks did teach you more than X’s and O’s. Great coaches do that and it takes time to realize their impact. The 1980 team were my counterparts and I remember the games like they were yesterday! Thanks for the great memories and God Bless all of you, America needed you and your story!
    It was your opportunity and you helped everyone in the country!
    Thanks again all of the Miracle Team!

    A lot of people in this country have forgotten what it’s like to have pride in their country and flag. Gen X and Millennials probably wouldn’t understand the impact of that team.

    Just another way that this was one of the greatest sports moments in US history, and like the movie says, and like I hope was said in real life. "The best amateur skaters on the ice for a week, not just a day." "And I didn't ask for that, because I already know my team." And I think moments like this show that Herb Brooks really did know his team long before he saw them on the ice. He knew exactly which 26 names he was going to write on that piece of paper before he ever showed up at that rink that day.

    In a world where there are coaches now that know a players terminal grandma is coming to watch him play one last time, and they bench them just because...there's Herb Brooks. Great and decent man. That is saying a lot these days.

    Thank you Mr Craig! We as a country need more pride in us and our fellow citizens along with respect for the flag we all live under. Our government and politicians have done a lot to divide and undermine the citizens of this nation and think a little more pride will bring people together to take back this nation and make it so everyone succeeds.🇺🇸

    • @kikialdrich4574
      @kikialdrich4574 Před 2 lety +3

      Totally agree. The late 70’s were bad, but we didn’t have social media that made it worse. I’m astounded by the sentiment that OUR American flag is offensive to “citizens “. Then get out. Go somewhere else and tell me how you are better off. My 97 year old grandfather fought in WWII at 18. The things he saw and had to do, I can’t imagine. He doesn’t like to talk about it much. But for these lazy assed, entitled people to trash our county and our flag just honestly pisses me off. Most of our politicians now do that for power. I seriously pray we don’t lose our country due to power hungry people. Our Forefathers are turning in their graves. Personally, I believe we will get it back. God speed for that to happen.

    • @KMK7355

      You realize lots of those "Forefathers" were slave owners that treated other human beings
      like pos. Try dealing with things with the reality that existed and not some myth.

    And Strelow went on to coach some bums named Martin Broduer, John Nabokov, and Miika Kiprusoff. Brooks wasn't just good at elevating players, he elevated coaches as well. Quite remarkable.

      That Olympic Team were poorly paid pro hockey players, don't kid yourself.
      11\19 Olympians had already graduated from their NCAA Schools. They played a hybrid AHL\International\NHL Pre Olympic schedule and were paid
      by the USOC basically minimum wage plus had their hotel and meals paid.

    Basically what he's saying and what we can take away from her Brooks is her Brooks was a visionary he know what it was to lose but he also knew what it took to win and he accepted nothing less often I often say to be a good teacher is a job easily obtained but to be a great teacher that's something that takes a lifetime to achieve and her Brooks proved yes he was hard to deal with but he also understood love and compassion and that is what made that group of young men or family the love and compassion for family and Country may we always remember herb Brooks
