Early 2000s, I went to see Kittie. Hit up the bar before they went on, Jennifer sat right next to me, I had no idea she was the new bassist. We chatted for a bit and then she took off. Later when they came on stage, mid-set she pointed at me and gave me the devil sign. I was like, "Holy shit, that's the girl I was just talking to at the bar." She was cool as hell, didn't even say "Oh hey I'm in Kittie" lol. It was awesome.
I saw them on second stage at Ozzfest in 2000. That year had Godsmack, Pantera, Static-X, Disturbed... Kittie hit stage like a bomb. They laid waste to every band I saw that day. 17, 18 years old and they schooled everyone in the pits.
To say they were better then Pantera. Doubt that. The others. Sure.
@@Universalknowledge13when I saw Pantera, Phil was a wreck and you couldn’t even understand him
kittie laid waste to pantera? Im thinkin no...
@@Universalknowledge13 They absolutely were. To be fair, Phil Anselmo had the flu and came onstage with a disclaimer he'd do his best. But. Yeah. They were.
No. Not better than those bands. Especially Pantera. Yes Phil was wasted a lot then because I was also at the Ozzfest 2000 in Candem NJ. Kittie was really good at the time but to say they were better, I guess it's objective.
This was a great documentary on one badass band. I was the only dude in my HS sporting a KITTIE shirt back in the late 90s. Still listen to them to this day🤘🏾🤘🏾
Damn, I wish I had an OG Kittie shirt back then🤘😎
hahahaha
Yea, me too. This documentary popped in my feed & hit me w adrenaline recall. Their 'Run Like Hell' version used to make me want to run thru walls at the gym back in the early 2000s. 🥷🏻 Still gives me goosebumps
You mean a SHIT band
shut up
I could listen to Mercedes talk all day. her voice and demeanor are very soothing. same with Falon.
Man I haven't listened to Kittie since the early 2000's. Didn't realize they were still around and went through so many members. Badass metal band
More bassists and drummers than Spinal Tap
@@dylan8058 More drummers? Mercedes is the original
@dylan8058 tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me....
I still have that first Kittie album. Jammed it, in my portable cd player, alongside Slipknot and Korn
i'm 104 and i still listen to this rock n roll band
are u still alive
@@dniellele absolutely

I was the drummer in a band in like 2000, and our bass player played Kittie's first CD for me one day during practice, and I immediately went out, and bought it. I was pretty much blown away.
I'm 43. And still listen to them.
53 and same thing here. I found them at 32 I think,so 2002. Canadian supporting good Canadian metal!!!
Same
39 here, been a fan since Brackish first dropped and still rock a Kittie shirt today with pride.
Hahahaha!!
42 brother I'm hardcore and deathmetal but kittie is a constant
Kittie was one of my favorite bands in the late 90s early 00s! Oracle is probably my fav album! Killer band! This doc makes me wanna play guitar again!
💪🏻😎🤘🏻🎸
Play!! Band or not, it can’t hurt, even if its only 10 minutes a day
Talena: "I would like to clear something up, the money wasn't an issue for me and that was not the reason for my departure, they replaced me before I even left. They gave me an ultimatum, to sign something that I was unable to sign because it did not benefit me in the least and did not give me control over myself, they said to sign it or leave because they had already found someone new to play bass. And that right there was enough for me to decide on, if they could replace me that quickly without even talking to me then they obviously didn't want me there anyways. They can state whatever reasons they want for me leaving, they don't even know why because they never even called me to talk to me about it, they had Jeff call me to tell me the news, and I am sure it makes them look better if I am a "money grubbing whore" or so they have been saying." -TALENA ATFIELD
Never saw this documentary and saw you guys post it couple months ago. Start listing to it, realised it was before Trish passed away. Not gonna lie i got a little emotional when i saw her. She was, to me, the best addition to Kittie. I've been listing to that band since i was 7 when they started. Saw a clip on the TV of Brackish and damn i fall in love with this song. And let me tell you in 96 at that young age, living in a small town in Quebec, the only way i could listin to this song was to record it on VHS lol I'm not 35 and to me Spit is still one of the best "Nu-Metal" album of all time.
They hit the stage at the perfect time in metal evolution with the perfect sound. I was in the depths of that scene then in a local metal band myself. 18yo, going to shows in Milwaukee, WI at the Rave, seeing all these bands before they were anything. A golden era for the genre and Kittie was right there. My hat is off to them 🤘🏻
RIP Doan
for real, she was a trooper. May she rest peacefully
I'm 71. This doc was my introduction to Kittie & I'm freakin' blown away! Hella impressive musicians! I'd give away one of my cats to be able to play guiter in a girl metal band!! WOW! Hoping to find In the Black & I Failed You here on yt. Kittie was🔥🔥🔥🔥!
idk why but this was the boost i needed to keep trying for being a dope bassist everyday. i never thought about joining a band before in need of someone. ive only ever considered making my own band. thats crazy
Back when "Brackish" came out and the whole wave of Kittie was taking off, I was tasked with getting bands to come do a show at the Junior College I was attending at the time. I decided that if we were going to do a show I needed to get actual bands to come and play. Kittie was doing a tour at that time, I think the very first tour with Ozzfest, and I could not find someone to talk to. I called every number I could find. Eventually, and you gotta keep in mind this was like 2000 I think lol, I called the studio they recorded at and had JUST missed them lol. This wouldn't happen now, but the guy at the studio told me that he had their managers number. I got the number and made the call. Turned out to be their dad... I called their house lmao!! He said "Oh yeah, that was Morgan that answered the phone" lol. I was just a 19 year old kid. I was so freaking nervous. I threw out the proposal and he gave me a price. He was SUPER cool about everything. I apologized profusely because usually when someone says "Hey, here is their managers number" they USUALLY mean a freaking office lmao!!
The show fell through unfortunately. I eventually had BB King's management lined up, I had the tour scheduling for Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers, I was doing everything I could, but Peavey, the people we were going to get to provide sound, backed out. After that my instructor decided we would sell calendars instead of putting on a concert... I had put in so much freaking work... *sigh* That was the end of it all lol. Oh well, It was a cool experience lol. Once in a lifetime experience lol.
Thats fucking rad!!!! Thank you for sharing that!
That’s cool man. Great story
I'm 54 yrs old. Loved and still love listening to these women!
Awesome unique sound, and their fu/we're going to do what we want attitude comes through in that sound.
Saw these ladies a few times at Harpos in Detroit. One time it was one of their birthdays and they invited my brother and I up to have cake and they signed my jacket. It was the most wholesome metal moment ever.
I love KITTIE. So glad someone FINALLY posted this!
I feel like they are incredibly underrated.
We're both in our 40s now, and I still have a massive crush on Morgan like I did sophomore year of high school.
Awesome Documentary, really enjoyed, especially as I was (and still am) a massive Kittie fan! Thank you for uploading it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I named my Black cat in high school 'Kittie' because of this band. They're amazing. Beautiful inside and out. ♡♡♡
Naming ur cat Kittie… genius!
One of my favorite bands when I was a teenager, I remember my friends parents drove us 3 hours to see them at the house blues. We got there a couple of hours early and spotted Lisa walking around. We asked for a picture and she said no but after the show. The rest of the band was super nice after the show signing autographs and taking pics, we waited in line patiently to ge that picture with Lisa , being the last in line. The crowd left. She looked at us and walked away.
With an attitude like that, no wonder Lisa didn’t last long.
EDIT: Just seen 52:52 - can’t say I’m surprised
"This too shall pass" is one of the greatest songs in heavy metal.
This is a great Documentary, I met the Ozzfest 2000 era of Kitty, and they were awesome, and the whole show was kick ass!
Im glad to see you all kept pushing forward with all the struggle, if being a musician was easy, everyone would do it!
You all hit the nail on the head about Napster and the current music industry now! It's heartbreaking to see what happened to it, and how difficult it is to make anything of your band! Now the market is flooded with subpar bands, no label support, and fans being willing to buy albums in person rather than on line are far and few in between!
Wow. Only 20 mins in and I’m reliving some core high school memories. Wild.
This was a great rockumentary! I remember requesting the DJ play Brackish at my senior prom in high school. A buddy and I went out to the dance floor to headbang. Everybody else vacated and just watched us while thinking we were so weird.
A great documentary. I absolutely loved Kittie and they were one of the first big live bands I saw (I saw them with Slipknot in Bristol, UK, back in 2000 when I was 15!). This hits a little harder knowing that Trish Doan died not long after this documentary was filmed.
I was waiting so long for this documentary, so thank you for that!
When I was in middle school, like late 90s…I freaking blasted their first album for so long. I even had a kittie shirt. They were so good, absolutely amazing and so influential.
I wish they would tour. They paved the way for the metal girls singers today. Feel like they were highly influential for girls in a male dominated world. They were amazing when I saw them with fear factory and union underground on the snow core tour. Awesome
They are doing welcome to Rockville 2024
Kittie was my band in high school. I started out young being taught piano by my mom. After she passed my older brother to help with my loneliness got me an acoustic guitar so I could play in my room. When I was around 12 he got me my first electric guitar and amp and that opened me up to rock. Think I was a senior in high school when I heard Spit either 99 or 2000 and that was it for me.
Fabulous doc! I fell out of Kittie hard after "Until the End" but "In the Black" won me back to the band. So it was cool to see some love being shown for that record.
My band had the distinct pleasure of opening for Kittie during their tour stop in my hometown of Grand Rapids in 2010.
Kittie- Oracle album has been one of my favourite albums. Because of the Death Metal influenced Nu-Metal sound.
I was at Canadian Music Week 1999. I remember them walking around the conference in their stage clothes. Made quite the impression !
Thank you for uploading this !
Loved this documentary! 52 year old Texas metalhead here, always loved Kittie 🤘🖤🤘😻
I met Kittie when Jeff was playing for them live, and Jenn was very new to the line up. Some of the best times of my life, getting to grow up listening to these artists. I do remember when Lisa joined the band, Morgan had to track her down after the show and ask her to meet people. She just kinda seemed like Talena 2.0, just not a people person. I'm not surprised that they're the only former members that aren't featured here. Super glad that the current line up is heading out on tour, EXTREMELY glad I am able to go to one of the few dates. Love me some Tara McCleod on guitar so much that I recall begging her not to quit one night when I was drunk af after a show lol
Apparently Talena agreed early on to be involved but pulled out. Her and Lisa seem to be the ones with major gripes with the band or more specifically, Mercedes and her controlling parents acting as managers because they were too young to make business decisions. Talena was probably bought in because they needed somebody fast and she had the right look, it certainly bought them a lot of attention when she did join, I don't think Mercedes ever liked her though, she was Morgan's weird friend who happened to know how to play guitar when they were desperate. I've heard with both Talena and Lisa it was contract disputes and they lost many more for other reasons. Talena because they wanted her to sign a contract making her a hired gun with no share in the band which she turned down and Lisa because she was a hired gun and when their record company dropped them they stopped paying her salary so she left.
I never met Lisa, she wasn't in the band all that long and I doubt they even toured Europe with her as they were having issue with their record company. I did meet Talena though when they toured with Slipknot and found her just as excited and chatty as the other members. I think the last time I saw them with Talena she was pretty done with it all and she left right after that European leg so they'd probably fallen out by that point and she was just finishing up obligations.
As a young man, very involved in the LA music scene at the time, I remember always seeing KITTIE on sunset club bills. Even then I thought, “ Thars the hardest working band in the business.” Not knowing anything about them.
Reminds me of when I was a teenager in the late 90's - early 00's. Great memories of concerts and just a unique time to be that age.
I'm a 48 and been a metal head since I was 10. First metal band I ever heard was twisted sister. Hooked. 😊 it began there... I fkn love kitties one of my favorite bands to this day. Favorite song, whisper of death.i fkn love that album!!!
What a cool documentary. Growing up I remember watching your music videos and immediately running out to get your album. It’s so cool to get all the background info. I hope you come to Tampa sometime soon!
"In The Black" is when KIttie really became a heavy metal band. Morgans vocals are fantastic on that album.
Oh man. I remember being a teen and banging my head to brackish, thinking it had to be one of the heaviest songs ever written! I feel that still stands to this day. I was so lucky to have been able to meet you all in Albuquerque NM for your Until The End tour. Still have the signed CD. I wish I could find the picture that was taken with us fans and you all during the signing. I would love to see you all again.
Every show i been to was beyond words....I'm 51 now and will follow them anywhere!
I saw them at the side stage at the Rave in Milwaukee, couldn’t have been more than 50 people standing in front of this tiny stage while as many people sat at the bar off to the side not even realizing the greatness that was up on that stage. One of the best shows I attended.
This band got me through high school!! They are dear to my heart love them forever!! 🖤🖤
I was so obsessed with Talena 😂
The Spit album is a classic. Became a fan back in 2000 🔥🔥🔥
Hell yeah thanks for the upload
For some reason I'm having a Mandella Effect moment here, because I thought i saw Brackish on MTV in the mid-late 90s.
Anyway a while back i heard something from Kittie from their latter years and having not heard from Kittie since Spit I was blown away by how hard and heavy they got.
Same.
Brackish which had been receiving airplay from radio outlets since late 1999, was released as a single on the same day that Spit was re-released. The song's music video premiered on MuchMusic the day of the single's release, and then premiered on MTV by first appearing on MTV's 120 Minutes on January 30, 2000.
@@parena86ss holy shit, Matt Pinfield would be proud!
Their new song Eyes Wide Open is out now.....and it kicks aassssssss!!!
I crushed so hard on Fallon back in the Spit era. I picked Spit up because: I always had a thing for gothy girls; a thing for girl bands,; Fallon really caught my eye; and the single that was playing on MTV at the time was pretty good. I kind of figured it might be the only decent song on the CD, but I ended up being surprised at just how good the entire album was. I certainly didn't expect a documentary on them to be on YT some 25 years later.
Wow, you guys are awesome !! I saw you guys at Oz Fest in 2000. You guys rocked, but I can't wait until you guys release a new album!!!!
Saw Kittie at The Boardwalk in Orangevale, Ca in 2007 and they killed it. So fun seeing them at a tiny venue, so small that they walked through the crowd after the show. Good times!
Saw them twice same venue the in 07
I love that venue!
Seen them twice there! That tour with Devildriver and Kataklysm was fucking INSANE!!!!!!!
Awesome documentary! A whole new level of appreciation and respect for Kittie. Badasses until the end.
I just want to let the record show that the only time I have ever considered going to any of the "fests" recently is to see these legendary ladies live. Kittie is one of my top 3 favorite bands of all time and I really accredit Kittie for shaping me into the Badass woman I am today. 🖤 please tour on your own and see just how many of us still support you!!!!! Wishing on it 🕯✨️
Kittie, you’re awesome. Thanks to the documenters!
I still have the spit demo CD lol I remember my mind was blown away when I heard the other version of Paper Doll.... and love playing Charlotte on guitar when practicing..cheers
In 2000 i Risked my health sneaking to the basic training library, getting on a computer, and watch 180p Kittie videos.. also Static X
I remember first hearing Oracle and was just absolutely blown away. That album CRUSHES. My favorite.
I have your first cd and have cherished it- it helped me get thru some horrible fake bs in life but young but I did get thru it- I practiced how the writing was on your CD and also eventually learn the riffs on run
On guitar***
I have been listening to Kittie since their Spit album. One of my all time favorite bands. My favorite song is In Winter
The album Spit got me through some of the most depressing traumatic times, I will always respect these women ❤
So I knew of this band but I was never big into them and I will say this documentary was a great watch! And you really get to see the progression of talent and skill as musicians as the film goes on. Great job and respect
Not sure how this made its way to me, but glad I watched it. Trish certainly carried a magnetic energy with her. Seeing her/hearing her voice again decades after meeting her sparked a nostalgia for the days we didn't know would be so special.
Always really liked Kittie. Even got to meet them back in 1999 or 2000 (I can't remember exactly). It was when they toured with Will Haven and Slipknot.
I saw Kittie at least a half dozen times around 2007-2008, I was in college and we're about the same age. They were just a phenomenon, they leaned into being girls with a metal band, but not in a way that was a cheesy schtick. They owned it because being different IS metal, being outcast IS metal, so when they faced that pushback of being "girls in metal" they responded in the most metal way possible, by saying "fuck you" and playing louder. I still have their autograph on a magazine spread and album cover, hanging on my wall.
Nice! Wish I could've seen them too. Listening to their tracks@ gym on my iPod back in the day was like audio-fed steroids. Great band👍
Where has the time gone I'm 41 and still rock them out
Beautiful girls, beautiful music, beautiful story. Goosebumps. I loved it.
What I like is how they are not like the usual stories you hear. They didn't really hang out around other artists or grow up competing with other talents. Just feels like friends just having fun.
Such a great documentary!! So much love to all the ladies who ever graced the band! One of the best live performances I've seen!
Fallon looks exactly like stacy dash. just beautiful.
Yeah she does!
I always crushed hard over her, and WZ bassist... idk why
Awesome documentary! I've listened to the album Spit over and over throughout the years and absolutely love it! Kittie is by far, my favorite all-female metal band. They are true pioneers and I remember when Spit was released, it rocked the boat for sure. Keep up the great work Kittie!
Awesome documentary. Been listening to kittie since I was in middle school. I'm 35 now lol.
I auditioned for a hardcore band ages ago... I didn't even know what hardcore was (I was into pretty poppy stuff at the time and had less than nine months behind an electric guitar), so I asked the singer about it. He handed me a stack of CDs... Spit was one of them, and it was the one I liked the best (It's actually the only one I can still remember). So yeah... Kittie taught me how to play hardcore. I got the spot, btw... basically just imitating Kittie riffs.
This answers a lot of questions, great doc
I saw Kittie at the Masquerade in Ybor City, Tampa in 2002. I was 18. Jen was in the band and I was in the front row in front of her. She was amazing. I got so many good pictures. I was surprised that the venue wasn't full. The club was giving out tickets just to get people in there. I paid for my ticket ahead of time. Great memories.
Thank you for this ❤
Love Kittie as a kid. forgot about them for the most part even though my internet tag/name of Brad SPiTT was heavily influenced by that original Album. what a great Documentary! What great memories! Now I need to go back and listen to the albums I've missed.
When I heard Brackish and PaperDoll in the early 2000s I was blown away. It felt so weird, but so awesome. It opened my eyes to a type of music I never knew existed. Kittie is awesome!
This was cool piece. Very nostalgic and well made. 🤘
I tried to like the debut album when it came out and honestly couldn’t really get into it. I’d forgotten about them for years, but last year I saw they were on the lineup for Sonic Temple 2024 I went back and listened to the music they’ve released in the meantime and was blown away.
Now I’m really looking forward to seeing them. They have a unique sound and I hope they are able to keep playing.
Very nice. One of my favorite live songs I've seen was Run Like Hell.
Im so thankful I saw them live. It was like fifteen years ago I think at a venue in Pittsburgh PA that's now closed down called the Alter Bar.
Saw them on the SnoCore tour with Fear Factory. Chicago Riviera Theater. They opened up and melted faces. Was a huge fan. Met them at the Meet and Greet after the FF show was over. They couldn’t have been cooler. Thanks for the music and this amazing documentary!
Growing up, I had the biggest crush on Fallon Bowman. I obsessed the guitar when I was 10 and maybe that had something to do with it, I thought/still think she is gorgeous.
Metal in the 90s and early 2000s... man, u couldn't beat it... the amount of Cds I had in the car.... the memories
Saw them at that Ozzfest in 2000 and they tore the place up! Really great documentary! Love the new track! keep going!
As someone who grew up around London, playing in Metal bands, this was really cool to watch !
Man what is Kittie waiting for. You are still young and vibrant. Do it again. Get together and play.
I don't want to hear people say Kittie was but rather Kittie is. In the 2000's I was wearing a suit and tie, bangin my head to Kittie, Coal Chamber and Drowning Pool. Some days, sitting behind a computer all day, I'd wannna bash someone's face in. Thanks for the release during LA rush hour. It prevented me from Falling Down, like Michael Douglas. That's agood movie to watch when you feel like bashing someone in as well.
Now that I'm older, I don't wanna bash as often but the Kittie crew still looks young. C'mon you got a do it now and not when you in your 80's and hangin on to a walker. That's what everyone else is doing.
They are playing again
documentary's good --bittersweet.
makes me miss my friends.
makes me miss playing shows.
too bad we didn't keep going.. cuz, that's really the only difference.
the girls, pushed on, and all seem to still be close with each other...
we probably would've opened for them, had we kept going.
there were moments, after the end, where a couple promoters had run into me and asked if I (we) were still making music.
that's going to burn until i die man.
me & the guys were out of touch for over 15 years.
i left music school for like, the 3rd time and fell into engineering (controls/field service, not music), then got addicted to the money. then got married..
singer finished his phd.
drummer's programmer, who's also married.
Brackish inspired by static x shows how underratedthey were.
I remember seeing kittie back in 2000 with wellhavin and slipknot,i became a fan from that day forward they were so heavy and crushed there set.🤘🤘🤘🤘
I'm absolutely looking forward to seeing them at Sick New World festival next week!
These girls need to be inducted in the Canadian hall of fame!
absolute badass's and legends.
I was a freshman in high school when their debut album was released. I remember waking up to watch Saturday morning anime shows but I had waken too early one Saturday morning and so I watched MTV until my anime was about to begin. MTV still played music videos back then and I was just watching them. Suddenly the video Brackish plays and that's where I discover Kittie. Also that's where I went through a phase of having a crush on Morgan.
Very great....I only know a few songs but this is a cool AF doc... sheesh they were ripping hard & only 15 years old
