Gonna set the stack size to 63 on my server
Lovely, this means that it's now divisible by seven and three!
Who hurt you?
Make it 1 and watch people suffer KEKW
Fuck, and I cannot emphasize this enough, YOU.
Evil… I love it
5:07 I believe the TNT didn't explode anything because it was technically _inside_ the block since the heavy core is less than a full block in size, similar behavior can actually be seen if you set off TNT on top of a slab. There's probably some use you can get out of this especially since you can now push a heavy core with a piston (in the last snapshot they would just pop off)
I remember this being a thing back on the mindcrack server where creepers wouldn't damage the nether hub much, most of it was slabbed so the explosions usually just took out a single block.
This has been a thing for a while with slabs also, I use it for 1x2x2 tnt cannons
Samething happens with ender chests and enchanting tables. Both cases are used a lot when working with tnt cannons
Same with water
Yup. Feature, not bug
Makes sense that "Over-Overkill" wouldn't require the enemy to have enough health to take all that damage. Overkill implies doing more damage than enemy health by default, so the achievement name is acknowledging that the mace is capable of doing that to an extreme degree.
In order to be true to it's name, this achievement shouldn't be obtained if the attack was against one of the bosses.
Or it should be something like needing to do at least a certain amount of damage more than the target's life.
I think it's also a play on words of the other advancement that has you do more than 10 (or 20?) damage with a sword called Overkill
overkill is for dealing 9 hearts of damage. not killing an enemy for more health than it has
@@wizardbrandon3544 they're talking about what the word itself means generally and how it's commonly used in other games
We mapmakers/datapack makers are eating well today! (And we're apparently also eating blocks today 😂) They're adding so much support for customizing integration with native game behaviors/mechanics/UIs from a datapack, and I *love* it! This is why, as much as I dread having to refactor my current pack for all the component changes, etc., ultimately I'm hyped and know it was a good idea. Doors are opening! (Now, uh, Mojang... custom data/components on crafting recipe *ingredients* please? 😁)
Think about just one example of what we can now do with just the changes from this snapshot: we can make an actual Polly Want A Cracker scenario! Give the player, say, an apple, but give it custom model data and a custom name to look like a cracker. Then customize its food values to make it much less nutritional than an apple, and able to be eaten even when full. Then adjust the parrot tags so that it eats this custom item. And lastly, add an advancement for when feeding the parrot your custom item, so "Polly Want A Cracker?" pops up when you do it the first time.
All fully integrated into standard Minecraft UX/behavior. And that's just a tiny example; there's so much more that can be done now! All those emerald pickaxes people have been begging about for years can be added by a datapack now, too: you can make a custom recipe using emeralds, have it give you a pickaxe with custom model data and custom tool properties and a custom name. Boom, done; YATT (Yet Another Tool Tier) added and integrated instantly.
Yeah, I'm not looking forward to updating my datapack, especially since I haven't really had time to work on it for a few months. But ultimately this is for the best.
allat
People complain about the lack of features Mojang adds in these updates and how it takes them so long by they never take into account the amount of bug fixing, optimization and accessibility they add with every update!
@@Kam1_9 tl;dr: Components replacing the old NBT system means datapacks will need to be rewritten, but complex or impossible things are now easy and possible. The additions to that in this snapshot gave the commentor ideas instantly.
Let me know if you need a tl;dr for the tl;dr.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I figured that introducing such a major, breaking change would be for good reason, and they sure are delivering with these last few snapshots.
2:21 that is certainly a way to activate redstone
definantly one of the ways
I also think it is safe to say that the advancement "Who needs rockets?" is a direct reference to Team Fortress 2. In that game you can use rockets to blast jump just like with the wind charge.
I can't believe they made the "eating non food items" meme a possible thing loll
My favourite part about this snapshot is them finally splitting up that map icon sprite sheet, that's been years overdue. I'm pretty sure you can now create animated map icons as a result?
Currently there's only two things left to split - experience orbs and moon phases.
I thought that happened earlier, with the experimental villager changes. They made icons for each village type and split the icons spritesheet with that addition.
@@ooooggll They did add the icons recently, but to the sprite sheet without splitting it. Funnily enough, they didn't add the old mansion/monument icons to Programmer Art...
They needs to split the GUI hotbar and inventory icons too.(just like the particles and mob_effects)
@@kate_isawesome1207 Didn't they do that in 23w31a?
They haven't split the icons from GUI yet. It would be nice if they split them.@@MuzikBike
"Who needs rockets?" is such a great name for the advancement. I just think of Tf2 when I hear that lol.
2:24 Ah, they watch Mumbo Jumbo
but crafty's crafting crafters can't craft crafters for crafters crafting crafters by craftymasterman
*cough* Portal 2 *cough*
@@dryft7906 Wait how's it connected I genuinely can't tell.
@@samurexatlas7373 Aight its probably not a portal reference, but theres a track in portal 2 called bots building bots
@@dryft7906 I see, it very well could be. Mojang likes their outdated references.

Personally hearing the ability to alter stack size for items I would say is perfect for certain items good example water bottles.
My reason:
Why I say water bottles because since it's not a potion yet I feel like it should have the ability to stack up to 16 just like bottles of honey stacks.
It would greatly help people that make mud farms/auto brewers.
As well as shrink the amount of storage needed for just bottles of water especially for dropped loot that relate with piglin's trading and fishing
I'd argue that potions should be stackable too lol as well as enchanted books. Hopefully this feature will be a gamerule as well. Though if I understood correctly this update would mean that you can create a datapack to alter stacksizes of all items even if they're not obtained through /give
@@lucicrowpotions I do kinda agree but enchanted books I’m gonna disagree. It’s not like you’re always going to be carrying tons of books for that to really have an impact and they’re all going to be different enchantments most likely so they wouldn’t stack anyways.
@@vadernation1233 I think enchanted books should also stack, because you often have a lot of the same enchants (e.g., mending and unbreaking III) when preparing to enchant all your armor and/or tools
@@vibaj16 if you’re enchanting all of your tools with full enchants all at once with just enchanted books I think you can spare the two logs required to make a chest. I feel like that’s just such a highly specific situation where having enchanted books stacking doesn’t really change all that much other than you can kinda do that one task that most people won’t do in that specific way a bit easier.
Everytime I see those technical changes on datapacks, I renew my hope for the legendary mod api on java. Everything is getting more and more data-driven, but we still lack the ability to add new content.
We're getting that, slowly. We can add custom banner patterns, wolf variants, and armor trims without replacing existing ones
@@Howziekythat's not what a mod API is. Many years ago they promised a mod API, where mods could be loaded/unloaded like resource packs when joining servers or worlds in vanilla without even closing the game
The mace advancement is great. I was scared that they would limit how much damage you can do with the mace after seeing that you can one shot wardens and ender dragons, but seeing as they made an achievement for 50 hearts it now feels a bit more unlikely to get nerfed.
It's already hard to get and fully utilize. The people who want it nerfed most likely didn't try to get one.
We hope they don't lower the damage of the mace! Since we got enough of them nerfing things for no reason!
@@kate_isawesome1207 villagers where nerfed for a reason though
What change for the villagers?@@novemharrison4524
I want the creepers to nerfed again! Because they made them stronger in 1.6 for no reason!@@mkks4559
i love that the mace brings use to the leaping potion
ngl, forgot that existed. thought I was gonna have to farm wind charges for more damage.
I hope they add a stacksize gamerule too, but if they don't there will definitely be stacksize datapacks out there!
Yea that was what I was hoping from the title, would be awesome to just have like over a thousand stack size for anything so you basically only need one slot.
Also would be cool to change it for specific items like make ended pearls and honey bottles stack up to 64
@@Fireball006 or if you want to be evil make every item have a max stack of 16 :)
@@DevExo8016 maybe, honestly a challenge where everything has a stack of only 1 would be very interesting

7:23 Its like they saw the memes of players eating random stuff and thought "yeah, lets add that"
Disappointed they didn't tease it by making their own meme
TNT on a Partial Block hasn't destroyed blocks in quite some time. DocM made a little contraption for this back in Season 6 in the Shopping District, if I recall, using an ender chest. Ask him!
well, it destroys the partial block if the partial block can be destroyed by tnt
i don't think the explosion thing is going to get patched, that's been around forever. it also applies to ender chests.
explosions originate at the bottom center of tnt, so when on ender chests and heavy cores, that's inside a blast proof block. explosions ignore actual block bounds and consider the full block to be that blast resistance, likely to prevent them from causing even more lag due to more sophisticated calculations.
Oh good. It would be nice if the core is blue wither skull proof.
The blue wither skull is the most annoying thing from the wither mob!(WHICH IS CHEATING WHEN IT DESTROYS OBSIDIANS, CRYING OBSIDIANS, NETHERITE BLOCKS AND ANCIENT DEBRIS TOO!!!! BLAME MOJANG!!!!!!)
And it also applies to slabs
...It's just struck me that lava-logging doesn't exist.
We should totally get that added. Aside from general aesthetic purposes, it'd be great for parkour challenges.
And lighting!
the logs would catch fire tho
I think the main obstacle for that is the case of lavalogged and waterlogged blocks being adjacent to each other. This would either require you to have the strange case of water and lava touching with nothing happening, or the implementation of yet another "stone-logged" type of block.
@@joe____stone logged stone slabs, how exquisite
4 words: Lava logged copper grate
these quality of life features are really promising. We all thought mojang would never have a maintenance update because its not flashy new content to sell more copies of the game, but all the features being added between 1.20 and 1.21 really show that they have been listening to their veteran players.
Lol 1.15 was a maintenance update and people shit on it
would rather be getting "flashy new content" than "maintenance updates" if I had to choose
@@unrule.
Quite literally how one ends up with the lag-fests that are 1.13, a little bit of 1.14, and 1.16+ 💀💀
Prioritizing new content without any form of optimization renders a game unplayable. The general performance of updates on a variety of devices does go up and down, but the problems we face now often did not exist for the common person back in the 1.10-1.12 days. 1.15 was a boon, and, I think, over time, people came to understand that, given what happened with 1.16.0, anyway 💀
Because optimization isn't just some one-line fix. There is a reason the large majority of 1.15 was overhauls and fixes. Because it is, indeed, a lot. Especially for a game like Minecraft, lauded for its spaghetti code in Java and its overt "bugginess" in Bedrock. At some point you have to cut your losses and slow down. That needs to be understood. Nothing runs forever without routine maintenance.
Also if 1.15 didn't exist I promise that 1.18 and 1.19 would, like, ACTUALLY be unplayable 😭😭
@@unrule. would rather be getting "maintenance updates" (as in you can probably play the game without adding performance mods) ngl
Game's needed it for a long long time, they really really need to focus on it, it's SEVERAL years due.
I really really hope that the max stack size can be increased further, to like, 512 or 1024 or some other power of 2 on that scale. when terraria made all its stack sizes 9999 it was so freeing and it made inventory management so much better, with all the feature bloat and so many different types of stone i really think minecraft would heavily benefit from increasing the stack size further, and maybe making it into a gamerule that you can change on world creation.
CUSTOM STACK SIZE???
they really are doing all the QOL changes that modpacks use
CUSTOM STACK SIZE.

The heavy core prevent tnt from damaging other blocks is a shared mechanic with the enchanting table. Probably not going to be patched and has a lot of interesting uses.
Same with half slabs and other not-full solid blocks
As someone who makes data packs, this snapshot feels like heaven.
Well that's a borscht/beetroot soup buff, if I have seen any. Finally we can have a stack of 99 soups and 99 bowls, to keep after you drink it all up.
I don't think that counts as a buff, because you have to use commands or a datapack.
It is a good day for the datapack community
4:55 the heavy core should be launched when TNT blows it up and deal damage on impact - like a cannonball.
Always glad to have Xisuma keeping us updated on snapshots!
Yeah. He is so much better than Slicedlime.
The Blowback advancement sounds like it would be hell, especially on Bedrock. Return to sender is already hard enough (granted the wind charge doesn't destroy blocks and the breeze doesn't fly out of render distance every 2 seconds.
Also 8:05 I so fucking braced myself for him to eat the arrow.
Blowback is actually really easy I got it on accident
I don't see it being that hard. Return to sender is pretty easy personally
Well the thing is you just need to get it down to low health and keep spamming your attack button near the breeze. You'll get the advancement in a jiffy.
@@Kirill17 Return to sender is kinda hard for me. It feels pretty much random whether the fireball actually realizes you punched it. Plus the fact it causes an explosion with fire every time you fail and the ghast often just flies away.
I'm pretty sure you only need the final hit on the breeze to be a deflected wind charge. At least, that's what the wording seems to suggest.
7:26 PhoenixSC moment right there
the more they drop the more excited i am!!! this is what updates are supposed to be- little information up front; a barrage of new, unexpected features to follow up during development; and a smooth, polished, complete addition that fits naturally into the game!!!
I really like the direction they're going with datapack updates lately
All I really need is key press detection and being able to add motion to players, then I think I'm happy for life
Thank you for the update!!
Thx X love the vids
See, all this background stuff to support modding and such, is why the features come out slower than outsiders think they should. A lot of invisible stuff is improving!
Love the vids ❤
Thank you, X, for always bringing us freshly baked update vids ❤
that is amazing, custom item creation is something i love and its been expanded a lot
It didn't get mentioned here, but there's also a new item component which lets you set whether or not an item is resistant to fire. Any item can be a netherite item now!
What a great xisumavoid video!
Really cool!!!
do you think you could make a stick have the same properties as a bow, and make it shoot things like fire charges? it would be a cool magic wand!
Hi xisuma! Wanted to share a fun fact.
Combining this update's ability to give any item eating capabilities, as well as tool capabilities AND durability, as WELL as the last snapshot allowing us to create custom recipes with Components built-in, we can now actually create a mod in vanilla (when you add a resource pack too!).
An example of this being Farmer's Delight, a mod which adds a plethora of foods to the game. Fried Eggs and Slices of Cake come to mind immediately.
As well as this, we can make new armor types a thing. I was already working on "Copper Armor & Tools" but you could make Coal armor, Wood armor, really anything you could want can be created now!
found you on minecraft forum, in a video posted like 8 years ago, i'm suprised that you're still here after all this time tbh, good job ❤
You've been missing out, he's been doing amazing content.
Check out his Hermitcraft videos, they're really fun and chill to watch
@@julianemery718i know, i saw this one and a few others but i think i'll just start watching it from the first episode
Haven't had much time to watch your hermit craft videos but I always enjoy watching the snapshot videos.
Woah! So many new additions, thanks for dumbing it down for us, I hate looking at it myself 😅
Custom stack sizes seem interesting. And I do like the new advancements so far
If I had to use a fitting quote for "Crafters making Crafters", I'd go with:
"Shut me down. Machines making machines." - C-3PO in Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
That was awesome
I think it'd be funny if heavy core also behave like anvil, like you can drop it to deal damage 😂
Honestly tho, having a block we can hide under a tnt explosion to keep explosions to only doing damage to entities sounds so cool idk if the rarity of the core makes it a good choice for it tho.
Ender Chests:
yooooooooooo always love to see a new explorer map thought mojang forgot about them, hopefullt we also get one for ancient citys.
Incredible🎉
7:30 phoenixSC fans finally have their validation
That thing where the TNT didn't destroy the terrain has been in the game forever. It happens if the TNT is occupying a block that can't be blown up it shields the blast. It's the same mechanic that allows TNT to destroy blocks underwater if you put sand or gravel on it.
If they added the ability to put one tool's exclusive features on another, stripping logs, laying paths, tilling farmland, etc, then you could theoretically create the ultimate omni tool that can mine anything and do anything you need a separate tool for all in one! Maybe the tool specific block loot table could act as silk touch for anything you want to drop itself (calibrated skulk sensor, bookshelves, ect) but you could still have fortune on it for ores?
Question: How would the hoe/shovel abilities work on the same tool?
Answer: Use it on any dirt it creates a path block. Use it on a _path block_ it creates farmland. Stripping logs and shearing animals doesn't mess with the other functions.
I'm so hyped for the increased stack size!! I really hope that it can be added as an option during world creation. 🤞
Yay! I do love me some new advancements.
I love these videos ❤
As a map & addon/mod maker, seeing the new triggers and parameters did make me want to go on a field day for my next map
I think blocks like cobblestone, netherrack, deepslate, dirt could benefit from having a higher stack size in the vanilla game
The tnt on the block also happens with any non-full block, as the tnt is technically inside the block and the raycasting gets affected
Let’s gooooo! 😂 seriously though , thank you X for all your hard work, keeping us updated on these amazing snapshots!
Surprised this took so long! The stacks I mean.
I think the tnt works that way because it’s the first not full block that has high explosion resistance, but to know if it’s really that you could try to make a slab, trapdoor or carpet with lots of explosion resistance
(Or in more complex words, since the Heavy core isn’t a full block, far from being one actually, the TNT hitbox is able to get inside it enough, that whenever it explodes, when the game would calculate the damage done, it all gets absorbed by the Heavy core, like how covering a tnt in bedrock would decrease/stop its effects)
It’s not the first, ender chests work the same
misode's pfp is how i feel watching all these new features. constant fish-eye effect.
I think the advancement for Crafters Crafting Crafters is a reference to Mumbo and his obsession with the autocrafters a few months back
the TNT thing works for slabs to(maybe other non-full blocks)
hmm, I wonder if this means along with potion-tip arrows they'll be introducing special-function arrows as well?
Broadhead arrows to break shovel-blocks (maybe called something else given the RL arrow is one that does extra damage)
dispenser arrows that dole out rope for a temporary ladder or tightrope bridge across something
Cupid arrows for forcing villagers into love mode, and pacifying mobs aggro'd on the shooter (in PVP, I could see this being a way to prevent someone from attacking you)
1:40 Most challenge (purple) advancements award XP, including Over-overkill (which according to Wiki awards 50 XP). You didn't receive the XP because you were in Creative mode when you got the advancement.
gonna be fun
I'm assuming the custom stack size impacts non-stackable items to be stackable? That would be amazing, if so. Finally going above the default 64 (or worse, the dreaded arbitrary 16) is a blessing
I'm going to test this out as soon as I leave work today. I don't know how that would function, if it does at all, since most non-stackables are items with durability. Since item stacks don't track the individual items that make them up, they wouldn't be able to track stacked items with different damages... I suspect it doesn't work, but if it does, that it'll probably only allow you stack items with the same amount of damage, and then apply new damage equally to all the stacked items.
Honestly, I just wanna try setting the stack size to 1 to everything for a tricky challenge
I feel like if you only got a maximum of 1 thing from crafting recipes, that would mean you would need SEVEN LOGS for a single wooden pickaxe, and that's over a FIFTH of the entire inventory
I hope heavy cores neutralizing explosions doesn't get patched, could make TNT cannons a lot safer to work with
That isn't a thing unique to heavy cores.
Basically, if a lit TNT block falls in the inside of a block space, or a block falls into the same space as a lit TNT, the TNT takes that blocks blast resistance into account.
alright, taking that into account, how many other blast resistant blocks do we have that are not full blocks? as far as I'm aware, the only current alternative is to use an enchanting table
Seeing the achievements makes me so excited! It means the trial chambers should be coming soon!
5:15 I think this also happens with ender chests
and any waterlogged block
and enchanting tables
Woah inline predicates that is cool maybe that was already possible before but nice
Is the crafter crafting crafters a reference to mumbo’s crafter short where he made a ton of crafters crafting crafters?
While it's a nice inclusion, max stack size being capped at 99 feels very limiting
they should just make the max the integer limit
Heavy core seems to have the same level of blast resistance and mining time of obsidian but pickaxe level is requiring netherite pickaxe
2:24 Is that a mumbo jumbo reference?!
Yes
the heavy core blast resistance thing is a feature since very long, just try the same with stone slaps, they will get very low damage too
thanks for always covering the updates. Always love watching. have you heard or seen anything about the new update to the touch control dpad for bedrock? Id love to know more about why it happened, and if there will be any fixes, as right now many players are finding it unusable. I’ve also had a bug where the auto jump activates when going up a path block on to a half slab. Nearly a year of this bug…
Now they just need to add a bastion remnant map and an ancient city map
Been a while since i have checked on the snapshots but please tell me if they reverted the changes the copper bulbs and auto crafting?
I can see how well custom stacks could prove to be useful server runners and map makers
Custom stack size oh yes! Even if they don't implement it I'm sure there will be a vanilla tweaks datapack!
Cool
Being able to change the stack size makes me hope this is the start of the inventory update
Personally I'm waiting for Mojang to allow modifying player NBT with commands and allow a way to create custom container UI using resource packs and creation of a new container type with commands. With those moves I can pretty much retire the Origins Mod and a few other mods and just use vanilla datapacks and resource packs to make custom races and classes to my servers.
You could use the heavy core for a prank. Put heavy cores in the floor with tnt on top. It wouldn't damage anything but it would scare them.
I find it interesting that they are naming an advancement in reference to an old achievement that no longer exists.
First 5k was something I never thought I would get in a Xisuma vid.
kinda wish they up the stack size limit to 3 digits, it can be supported internally
Yoooo finally custom stack sizes
Man, it's Christmas for map makers! I'm so excited
The possibility of stack sizes increasingly for the vanilla game is exciting. I think that one of the best simple things that Mojang can do to update inventory management would be to increase stack size for items in the player inventory. I’m also thinking that players would rethink the viability of Bundles if they held more than 64 items. Great potential!
Increasing stack sizes in the player inventory is a terrible idea, it would break the game.
@@EmperorPenguin1217 I totally disagree. It definitely wouldn't break the game.
The Trial Chambers Map is a GREAT addition!!!
I can't wait to see what randomizer datapacks will be like
These new component additions/changes are going to be worth the broken backwards compatibility, in my opinion. Not just for mapmaker and datapack creators but for modders as well!
