The vintage one stay as a piece of art for a child toy. Someone unscrew and rebuild it wrong for your 2 motors with the red part up. It must be easy repair if there is no engrenage missing. This kind of motor is very easy to find. Try to see if the rubber wheel of your vintage working motor is well glued or you can use little sandpaper. I have two of them, use the two tricks and they run fine.
I think if you wanted to On the new one. Can always Make or drill a hole into the top part. So that the gun can fit on the side part. I always seen people Do modifications on their stuff.
