    Beautiful, beautiful system. I just ordered a PS Audio Directstream Jr to go with my Primaluna amp and Salk speakers. These Line Magnetic amps are gorgeous too, as are your Spendors. Just a beautiful simple system, a lot like mine. I also recently put the Gaia footers on and was blown away by the improvement. Thanks for posting this, can't wait to get my dac.

      DailyFrenchie I just listened to your system before coming here. Both are great! If you have a chance, head over to my page and have a listen. My first attempt at matching audiophile gear. Would be interested in your thoughts/feedback. I was really close to getting a LM but decided to stick with SS amp for simplicity.

    Great choices. The 805/508 can actually drive just about anything you put in front of it but this sounds like a good pairing. Was going to put ATC out there back when you were looking for suggestions.

    • @free5sole
      @free5sole  Před 5 lety +4

      I have experienced that as well. I brought the 805 to a local shop and listened to it with Magico A3s and it drove them beautifully at loud volume. No distortion, no struggle. Just beautiful music.

    • @seangray3730
      @seangray3730 Před 5 lety

      @@free5sole Yes. The amazing thing with the 508/805 is that they love relatively neutral speakers. The midrange on my 508 when I swapped to TJ Fullmusic 805 CNE's was astonishing. I sold my 508 but after looking around I'm probably going to end up with the 805. Nothing comes close for the money.

    • @seangray3730
      @seangray3730 Před 5 lety

      @@free5sole Also, I found that home theatre consoles like this one need a little something between the amp and the top surface. Tubes are great at picking up vibrations. I put HRS Nimbus couplers under mine (took the feet off) and the imaging was far more precise and centered. Probably any good vibration damping would work.

      @seangray3730 Před 4 lety

      @@divertiti You'd have to ask @freesole about Spendors with these LM amps. With the right tubes and DAC, I've had exactly the sound you describe with my SCM40's. You can tube roll and find the perfect 805/300b combo for the sound you want.

    Slightly off topic, I'm planning to buy these but will be using them for home theater along with music. So I'll go for D9 along with D1 for surrounds. Would you recommend them as a HT speakers. Also Spendor don't have a matching center channel speaker for the D series, what do you recommend. I'll be using Marantz AV8805 Receiver to power the setup (7.2.6). Thanks

    Did you like the Spendor D9 more than the Magico A3? Seems like the Line Magnetic 805ia matches beautifully with the Spendor. Wondering how the Line Magnetic would sound with the Magico A3. I'm contemplating on the Spendor D9 or Magico A3.

    • @free5sole
      @free5sole  Před 5 lety +3

      I did enjoy the D9's more than the A3's in my personal experience. I heard both with the LM 805ia (I brought my amp to the shop with the A3 and they were nice enough to let me hook it up). The D9's are more natural with a magical quality in the midrange that is hard to describe. The A3 was methodical, calculated but not as natural to my ears as the Spendor. If you prioritize detail and analytical qualities more then maybe the A3 is the better speaker for you. For me, I thought the D9's were effortless to listen to (and therefore not fatiguing), were perfect for the music I listen to (jazz, classical/instrumental, ballads) and had great synergy with the LM.
      Btw, comparing the 805ia to the Hegel 360 that was attached to the A3 - it was no contest. The 805ia was a much better pairing with the A3's than the Hegel (to the point where the shop owner asked who the distributor in NA was and wanted to sell their product in store). 48W per channel was more than enough for the A3's to be dynamic.

    • @katobrly9963
      @katobrly9963 Před 5 lety

      That’s good to know that’s the 805 is a good match. I am torn between the Magico A3 and D9. Ill need to do some more listening before I pull the trigger. Just love the way your system sounds. What cables do you use?

    • @free5sole
      @free5sole  Před 5 lety +3

      @@katobrly9963 I will say that the video (and most videos on CZcams) do not do a good job of capturing how the system actually sounds and will definitely not capture how it will sound in your system. DSLR microphones aren't the best but I will say that the system sounds much better in person. Definitely go out there and listen to both speakers before making your own decision. That's the way to go :)
      I use mostly Acoustic Zen cables for my interconnects. I also have Audioquest Storm series for my power.
