The wife and i just got back from a motorcycle trip with some friends. We did 385 miles from Maine to home. We rode two hours dry, 6 hours in the rain, then two hours dry. We try to take a break about every 90 to 100 miles if possible. We stopped at McDonalds for brunch and left w river of water! Sorry for the mess, but thanks for putting up with us and letting us get some food and warmth! We all wore water proof rain gear 😂😂, nothing is water proof on a motorcycle in the rain! So dress for the weather and have fun riding!

Back in the '60s my Triumph had a rack on top of the tank and I found that I could drag a Coke can in between the bars and it would stay there. If I filled the can with water, I could rotate the can to get just the right amount of mist to cool me off. It was surprisingly effective and one can of water would last for hours.

The only holder I have on my Spyder is my water bottle holder (because I don't want my handlebars cluttered and be distracted) to remain hydrated. I always carry an extra large capacity water bottle in the trunk so that when I stop, I can refill the one I drink from. "ATGAT!" said to me @purpleonthree ; I firmly believe in wearing all the right gear all the time and that includes sunscreen. I agree with the wonderful Coach Vic; when it's hot, just stop and take a break. For me, safety is the most important; a safe ride is an enjoyable ride. Great video from the both of you with great advice and you are not doing it wrong because you two have so much fun! Cheers to you both! Carpe diem et veho!

So today was a big day for me, today was the first day that I actually got a chance to sit on a can am spyder and a Ryker 900. I have a disability so it took some work but I was able to properly mount the Ryker 900 without too much issue and I can get on the spyder with no issues at all. So I’m looking to get my first can am hopefully in the next few weeks to a month. And thank you coach Bob. Your videos have been a big help in motivating me to follow my dreams of one day owning a motorcycle.

It's amazing what a spray bottle with water can do..
I used to live in Cali, and when I'd ride in the desert, I'd stop and soak my shirt. Best and cheapest ac on a bike is a wet clothing. I'd stop every half hour or 45 minutes as needed. But if you can, a spray bottle will work just as well. Heck or a water bottle over ya.

Thursday's head index was 113° coming back from lunch out in Sebring (it was BRUTAL ). I definitely need a better shirt/jacket as my current mesh jacket is just to dang hot. I like the idea of Bohn Armor but I don't like how sung they fit.
I also find that when I come to a stop whether it be a stop sign or traffic light I stand up until it's my turn to GO. FAT jacket cracked me up.

In dry heat, we found that putting an evaporative cooling vest under the Bohn Air Tex shirt worked amazingly well. With the lightweight shirt over the vest, it really didn't feel bulky. I don't care to use the cooling vest in the humid environments. No silver bullet. Agree with Coach Vick!

Within 15 minutes both legs got burnt. Why husband and I want to ride individually together. I can’t go any distance due to the extreme heat on my legs. First off, we love sappy Coach Bob. In Utah I feel i need multiple jackets on one trip. It gets cold at dusk, or chilled when we ride in the mountains and hit in the valleys. Currently I am wearing a First Manufacturing Raider Jacket from Cycle gear. I get great comments about the look. It is a heavy leather jacket. With the liner in I can go down to 25 degrees on a cool ride and feel comfortable. I love the ventilation zippers for the summer yet I do get hot. Nothing to unbearable as long as I am not sitting still in traffic. I guess the key for me is to hydrate and get used to the heat. There is no silver bullet and I think folks forget when you ride it is outdoors, not in a climate controlled atmosphere. I will check out those options coach. We love your family and your videos bring smiles to our lives.

Good morning from TX! It’s hot as Hades here so your tips are very timely. My Bride and I are always trying to find ways to keep cool. I started out with an open face helmet but realized that I am cooler in a full face with good air flow because it keeps the sun off of my face. We have tried multiple jackets trying to stay cool and the quest continues. Can’t wait to hear how Coach Vic feels about the Bon Armor after trying it out. Y’all be safe.

I totally agree that being the pillion is a totally different experience than being in the front and that you should do what is most comfortable and best for you, we are all different. Definitely, being in shape is extremely helpful, not just for the extra padding 🤣but in having a more comfortable drive as your back, hips and legs won't hurt as much once the drive is over.
The amount of wind, sun/heat, and rain that you get is very different than when you are the driver. As a pillion, I do get hot but I can stand the heat better than most (the Puerto Rican/Miami in me🤣). I find a lot of it has to do on how high the windshield is as well as the wind direction and speed we are driving. Granted non of that will matter when you are at a red light or in traffic.
I wear sweat-leaking shirts (both short and long depending on what I am going to do for the day) which helps a lot and when it does get super hot then I use the cooling vest. I will admit that finding these types of shirts for women are a lot harder than for men. I wear jeans, hiking socks (also help in comfort when walking) and boots (help with rain as they are waterproof). These also help in keeping me cool. My jacket is white BILT Techno 2 Women Jacket. It is light for the summer and comes with a liner for the winter. My helmet is a LS2 Valiant. I usually have it open unless we are on the highway. I also keep the air vent on the top open for extra circulation. I will admit I don't wear gloves unless is cold or I am driving.
I always carry suntan lotion as well as chapstick or carmex. I hydrate a lot. I have long hair. Therefore, I keep it in a ponytail to keep me cool (also avoids the hair knots).
Coach Vic, love your hair! You look beautiful. Coach Bob sappy is great!
