Yes, "BS" test @ 9 min Fridman mentioned is to the point. After watching $4 Billion loss video with Ackman before this, I found Ackman again dealing with a media with negative bias reminding me of the turbulent situation in US political scene. Wishing the best to turn negativity into positivity - as if to go against the law of entropy. Reference of this kind will certainly help. Thank you, indeed.

i have a phd and am in academia and i followed this story closely. i believe these sentiments apply to both Oxman and Gay. I dont understand this person's cognitive dissonance with one set of logic for his wife vs. another set of logic for the "other". Doesn't check out

Well, copying another paper without citing it is probably more textbook, but yes it’s definitely still plagiarism. That she couldn’t come up with simple definitions of things in her own words tells a lot as well.

Am I missing something? How is what Business Insider did to Neri Oxman substantively different than what Bill Ackman did to Claudine Gay? They both haphazardly accused people of plagiarism despite the fact that the acts of "plagiarism" were relatively benign. They both made the accusations to advance their political agendas. Neri Oxman did not deserve to get caught in the crossfire at all, but Bill Ackman is being a hypocrite. He should defend his wife AND apologize to Claudine Gay. For that matter, he should probably apologize to his wife for what he did to Claudine Gay.
