I recently retired as an APRN (Nurse practitioner). I started nursing as an LPN in 1980 and became a corpsman in the navy. They enrolled me in a nursing program wherein I completed myBSN. I transferred services into the Army and they sent me to my graduate program. I taught nursing for 6 years. You did an excellent assessment. Your bedside manner is great. You will make a great Nurse !
I still remember doing my physical exam on one of my nursing instructors 17 years ago. There not looking for perfection but rather that you have a good grasp on performing the assessment. You did a great job.
I wish that I had a medical professional like him. A voice that makes you feel at ease, a very caring bedside manner, and very thorough in his assessment. We need more like him. New sub to his channel as well
What surprises me is how thorough he is with it. I just had my yearly physical 3 weeks ago by my long time doctor. He looked in my ears, listened to my heart and lungs, palpated my stomach and lymph nodes in my neck and that was about it. Also blood and urine tests. Granted, I have health issues and specialists that treat some of the other things, but I don't think I've had THIS level of a comprehensive physical in 25 years!
@@retroguy9494 your long time doctor does not need to check for Scolioses more then once for instance. And he does not have to see your overall range of motion every time etc. Also he will see alot of things on you whithout you even noticing. Eye color, skin tone heealthy or not, blood shot eyes etc
I'm very impressed with the way this young man is taking his studies seriously . However as an adult I'm ashamed at some of these inappropriate comments that many have posted. Mostly adult males. Do you guys have children of your own, or nephews or cousins that age ? Do you want people talking like that to them ? You guys are grown adults ! These two are somebody's children ! They have a future and this is their time to do good and make a difference. Please be respectful.

Mind you, I also think you missed out doing the reflexes of the foot (pointed object along the sole of the foot) and on the knees (tapping using a small hammer), but that's between you and me!!! I am very impressed with your knowledge of the anatomy. No Doctor I have ever been to has ever stated anything about S1 & S2's, where the positioning of the lungs and heart were. All they ever did was stick a stethoscope here and there and said ok!!!

Drew you should be in medical school for MD or OD program...very thorough and systematic... Just presevere through the MD program...being a good doctor comes from the core and you exhibited uncanny knowledge and your bedside manners is so calming and assuring that all your patients are half healed by the time you take them through the physical or discussing diagnosis...Body Mind and Soul are the components of being healthy... you can treat the Body then your calm tone while speaking assures the Mind and your caring compassion will touch the Soul...therefore you are 3 in 1 when you have your own medical practice...be IN the light, be OF the light and BE THE LIGHT

My wife actually did a real physical exam on me while live exam with a medical professor , when she was in medical school in Hong Kong, we have a reallly large counter top bar, we used as a physical table 😆 BP machine pulse ox and everything lol was the longest freaking exam ever!
Too bad that actual physical exams today are about 5 minutes. Blood pressure, weight, temperature, listen to heart and lungs, then goodbye. My doctor doesn’t look at any part of my body.

Listening to the heart and lungs through the shirt is no big deal. There really is no audible difference. My doctor listens to mine over my shirt because I don’t like taking my shirt off. Doctors and nurses and trained to do both because it’s up to patient on whether they want to undress and they DO deal with patients who don’t want to do that. Having a physical is VERY invasive because you have to deal with being touched everywhere and sometimes the one thing that the patient has control over is whether they undress or not. Boys and men don’t often care about removing their shirt, but some do. Women definitely do.
You can not Exam the Patient with cloth on, thats especialy important in Ambulance service. If you dont öut of all cloth you maybe oversee bloodings or wonds
