Daniel & Clara: The Lost Estate. Artist talk at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery, 18 May 2024

A recording of an illustrated talk by the artists Daniel & Clara about their exhibition The Lost Estate, at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery until early 2025.
The Lost Estate is a new photographic series on display at Norwich Castle, which explores the relationship between humans and the natural world through imagined narratives taking place in the gardens of a country estate.
“The pictures for The Lost Estate were taken at sunrise and sunset throughout August 2023, we had hoped for a beautiful golden summer light but it rained for most of the month. This infused the pictures with a melancholy mood, more eerie than we had planned but possibly more appropriate for the ideas we were exploring. In our work we are always responding to the landscape and weather, these are collaborators in our process, they inform how we perform, our posture and our mood - we work like human barometers, letting the atmospheric conditions speak through us.”
