I remember doing this back in the 70's. We flew ringmasters, noblers, and a few 049 powered planes. It was fun to build the models, then fly the hell out of them.

wow ! hi horst ive never seen a control line model that big !
5 mins is a hell of a long time especialy at the speed that b29 was hurtling around,
ive flown smaller models on lines before but only for a couple of minutes and that was bad enough - lol
congradulations on both you and the pilot for a very entertaining vid - regards pete

With control line flying, the engines shut off when they run out of fuel. You have no control of when that is, which means there's no chance they'll shut off at the same time. I have a P-38 control line model. With a twin engine model, you ‘top off’ the engine closest to the pilot right before takeoff, so that it shuts down last. This helps the plane 'pull away' from the pilot, and keeps the control lines tight, thereby maintaining control of the plane. (Continued)

If the outside engine shut down last, the plane would turn in towards the pilot. The control lines would go slack; the pilot would lose control and crash. Only with taught control lines, can you maintain control of the plane.
