- Welcome to my first ever CZcams video! For my first one, I decided to take you guys on a tour of all the plants that I keep in my home, most of which are uncommon or rare, and growing in regular home conditions here in Canada! I also introduce you guys to my cats - Niko and Andy!
Some of my plants (the anthuriums especially) are in rehab mode though and look a little rough from their time spent with my mom babysitting them while I moved across the country.
I've thought about starting a YT channel for a long time now and finally decided to do it - it really is more a challenge for myself to see what I can come up with and I ended up really enjoying the process! However, it definitely is a lot of work trying to learn how to film and edit, etc. And I am definitely not the most comfortable person in front of a camera, but I'll try my best to work on it!
I decided to do a vlog-type video; I felt like this was the video format that I am most comfortable with since it's very similar to doing Instagram stories... except with YT, the videos don't disappear after 24 hours so... yay I guess? 😆
I did accidentally forget about my bathroom plants, though, so those would be the other rhipsalis, a dischidia, and some ferns but I guess I can include them in a future video instead.

Fabulous first video! I love it … your collection and your ways. Looking forward to many many more! I love all your plant non plant supplies. The clear moss poles. Circular trellis. I especially love that all your plants are part of the home. & thriving. Outside green house cabinets. I also am holding steady. While I have created individual climate vessels when needed. I’ve held steady in not employing cabinets tents or terrariums! So… this video is extra inspiring!
Thanks so much! Yes! I love being able to enjoy my plants out in the open without having them enclosed in a cabinet or greenhouse - they outgrow those very quickly anyway! Growing in room humidity is certainly doable, but it's definitely a little bit more challenging compared to growing inside a temperature and humidity controlled greenhouse. And the plants don't really grow as quickly, either, but I'm all right with that 😊 I wish you the best of luck in your plant journey!

ohhhhh welcome to the club!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I've been using the Grow Thiccly poles for almost a year now and I can never go back to normal poles anymore! They are my absolutely fave poles. They just make the job so easy! And I don't have to mist them constantly which is such a WIN!

Some of the plants took a bit of a beating but most have bounced back pretty well, and it's been a small journey changing certain aspects of my care routine to adapt to this new city! Bigger leaves in lower light makes perfect sense - the plant needs more surface area to catch more light for photosynthesis.

oh!! Hehehehe I just used up some old material I had from making potting mats!! So they're basically just drawer liners (check out Dollarama or CT!) and I just cut them to size 😎

22:28 Monstera Deliciosa "mint" is also just another sales name. I have a variegated monstera that regularly produces large mint areas as well.
There are some INCREDIBLE plants and growers coming out of Canada right now! I'm in the U.S. so unfortunately I have to enjoy them from a far😭 But I've recently realized that litteraly the majority of the plant-tubers and Instagram pages I follow are Canadian🤷😄 So WELCOME! Oh man, I totally feel like it's the other way around! Whenever I'm on IG the coolest plants always seem to come from US growers (ehm ehm looking at you Doc Block red crystal 🤤) Haha, grass is always greener on the other side I guess!

when you were talking about the amount of sunlight hoyas get versus the leaves it produce…I think high light gives smaller, thicker leaves because it has less surface area to lose water and it’s fatter/thicker because it’s keep more water in its leaves versus lower light which loses less water so it’s leaves can have more surface area and it doesn’t have to keep as much water because it’s not getting enough light. Just my thought

I agree, air circulation is even more important for the anthuriums. Although I really am terrible for letting the plants in the Rudsta dry out completely 😅 Typing this as I water them right now lol!

Thank you! If you mean the brown shelves, they were actually just from Costco a couple years ago. We used them as regular bookshelves for a while until we moved and then I repurposed them for my plants instead!

I used to live in BC on the island! Then in June I did a big move across to country and now I'm based in Winnipeg. Managed to take all my plants with me though! hehe
