Txt are not afraid to show us various genre for their songs especially the tittle song
Excuse me for geeking out, but I am old and have always been a huge music nerd. This is giving the New Wave sound of the early Eighties. It is not a sample but it sounds familiar because it is very reminiscent of 'Take on Me' by A-Ha.
It sounds like a striped down sample of a-ha . Old kpop fans unite

Same!! Im obsessed with it and its very 80's vibes! There is a little sample in there I think...and its a classic 80's song but I just cant put my finger on it. It isnt the a- ha thing altho I do hear that. Im desperate to find the song that snippit reminds me of!! Its at 6:55 if anyone can recognize it.
It's the same sound/instrumental from Thursday's Child, but the melody strongly reminds me of "Take On Me" by Ah-Ha (came out in 1985, I think). That's why it sounds retro. Listen to the first 30 seconds or so of Take On Me, and you'll hear that sound. It's really cool to see TXT go 80s here. They are always experimenting, like you said, and I love it!
Yeah, I knew it sounded familiar too. After humming the melody for a while I realized it reminded me of Take On Me, love how much the reference different music eras and genres in this album!

From the teasers and styling I expected the emo-punk era to return too, so I was surprised, but the song is really nice. I am OT5 but I am a Taehyun biased from day 1. Always been. I do support them all. For me, Taehyun just has this voice that made me want to listen more. And His vocals keep getting better and better. I feel the same way about BTS. I am OT7 but Jungkook is special to me.

I’d argue the skip is gbgb not cat and dog lol, at least personally it’s the weakest of their discography . Cat and dog is camp imo and lowkey hilarious with the lyrics and choreography

Omg it’s so interesting seeing the differences in people’s tastes cause I personally love ice cream, especially with the lyrics in mind.
For me, gdbgb is good without the repeated chorus, cause I love verses but I always wanna skip when I get to the chorus. I personally feel like it’s the weakest of all their tts

The melody reminds me so much of Take On Me
I’m kinda surprised people haven’t liked the title track, maybe it’s cause I enjoy the retro vibe that I liked it.
But the real steal is skipping stones or deep down (honestly the whole album is so beautiful, probably in the top 3 txt albums for me cause I love the genres in this album)
The bit that sounds like a sample sounds like Aha's Take on Me, but not quite. ZB1 sampled the same song in their debut recently so I don't know if I've connected them just because the song was already in my head.
Also totally beside the point but I just saw you on my insta feed at the wedding you attended and you look phenomenal. I was at one of my best friends wedding yesterday and I didn't take a single nice photo. So I'm even more jealous. 🙈😅

If the question is, "Is TXT making a movie reference?" the answer is almost definitely "yes" lmao. They love their movies. I doubt the TMNT references were intentional, but almost every English-speaking reactor I've watched has gotten those vibes thanks to the combination of the sewers and the retro sound.

I may be in the minority but I just don’t like this song very much. I know it’s pretty successful and I’m proud of them but the music itself just didn’t resonate with me. The story and video are great though
