  • I started my Accounting journey at PwC as an auditor. After 15 years of that experience, I can tell you there were 6 main benefits to starting out in audit:
    Professional Skepticism effect:
Due to the fact that audit is always based on finding support and evidence, Your mind becomes adapted to this. Ultimately down the line, makes your work based on evidence, which will make you much more credible among your peers
    Varied clients:
Work on a variety of clients from different Industries such as manufacturing and services. Which will expose you to all the accounting issues that come with that.
    Take no BS from auditors:
You will learn how an audit is run from the inside so, down the line, when you sitting on the other side of the table, you will know how to negotiate with auditors
    Higher salary history:
You'll begin your salary history on a higher level Because typically Auditors are more than those in Private Industry
    Get your CPA chops:
You will get the necessary experience to get your CPA license which is the gold standard for the accounting profession
    See places!
Travel the world for free which is always awesome

@@_itznicoletteA teacher back in my university used to tell us the impact and the importance of our job as auditors (he was a retired Big4 partner btw). This is because the responsibility of keeping the financial system in order lays on our hands, since we are the people in charge of making sure the big companies financial statements are reasonably correct and without any material misstatement. Just take a look at the Enron case and you will see what do I mean.

Furthermore this is because the decision of making an investment in every company in the world relies on the financial analysis which basis are the financial statements, the ones we are responsible of auditing. Of course I’m talking about public companies here but it’s just the same at smaller companies but in a smaller scale as well, we might no be talking about enormous amounts of money such as big companies but there will be someone’s money at stake at any point and we are the ones to make sure that the basis of the available information for decision making is reliable.

that's what it says in the Code of Ethics yeah but in the real world there are so many massive corporate scandals involving the Big 4 that could have been avoided by applying these principles we learn
as long as the board will authorise auditor's payment there will always be the mother of all etical threats (self-interest). shareholders, or the end users of the FS, should be more involved in the whole audit process than just giving the green light to appointment

    • @lazizaakramova8602
      @lazizaakramova8602 Před 10 měsíci +5

You know I was in the second year of my university ( Bachelors degree in audit and banking ) when I started working for the international company in the audit and consulting department as an intern. I am very shy person and also an introvert due to which I was struggling at the beginning but then when I started working with the new senior (who manages projects after managers) , she showed me that it is okay to do mistakes and she also explained every single detail which was needed for work so I started thinking that it is better to not treat people as your colleagues only but in the first place they are human beings as you and they all started as you can. Keep in mind that in those companies are the same people as you who work hard and who will respect and support you in case you try to do your best, just show your dedication and never hesitate to ask any questions no matter how stupid they may seem to YOU! otherwise you will waste your time as I did during the earliest period of my work

If I work for an accounting firm conducting auditing, can I have my own small practice , not at a firm level just to provide bookkeeping to small businesses and tax preparation to individuals and small businesses?. Hi,
I feel like a psychopath but I am thinking of moving from industry to big 4.
I like my current job but it feels like I am missing out on massive learning opportunity that I can only experience while young.
My first job was at $45k and after 9 months I got a salry increase making it $52k.
Then after 7 months I left my job to my current one for $75k.
I am not a cpa and still making it this much.
I enjoy working with these people and the managing partners are good people who appreciate evrything I do.
I've been in my current role for 3 months now so I am concerned that I may ruin my relationship with this firm because I'd definetely would want to come back after 2-3 years at big 4.
I got an offer from one of the big 4 for 65k + they will pay for my CPA.
    Am I an idiot?

and you will earn less per hour (based on the hours you work) that pretty much any other job besides minimum wage. Audit has terrible salaries if you spread it by the hours you work and work life balance is non existent, and anytime you actually get not to work you have to spend studying.

  • @3lit3MIAU

Alot of this is true for alot of different jobs, even situated around accounting based jobs.
Considering I'm german I can't exactly make accurate comparisons, but the arguments are weak and not really applicable to the real world.
    Finding support and evidence:
I can name alooot of jobs that suit that description. Your peers or colleagues will view you as more credible. Yeah that definitely has nothing to do with your work. A giant stretch.
Tbh I can dissect all of the claims made here but nah go live in the bubble you call your channel and the American dream or whatever
