    I'm been waiting to make this oddly satisfying compilation for so long :)! WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE?? New viral trends keep popping up on Instagram so I kept having to update my list of things to try. I narrowed everything down to 10 experiments, with a good mix of slime, bubbles, kinetic sand, floral foam, soap and jelly. I call them DIYs for lack of a better word but of course these are far simpler. Most just require assembling together certain items, although some were just as time-consuming to do as any regular DIY!
    Viral satisfying clips from Instagram usually capture a few seconds of something seemingly effortless, however I discovered that there far more work involved than expected. For instance, floral foam crushing is great fun for a few seconds but the clean-up can take over 30mins. It also took me a good 15mins to make 3 decent bubbles using Bloonies (they kept popping or deflating). Don't even get me started on soap carving where I narrowly avoided taking a piece out of my finger. You normally need more than one attempt to get the most satisfying shot with perfect ASMR, so this can easily add up to 1-2 hours of setting up and cleaning up. I have lots of respect for those satisfaction Instagram accounts. Creating original content is far more time-consuming that it appears.

Floral foam is actually not that safe, if you come in contact with it often or touch it for a longer duration of time it can be dangerous to the body as it contains carbon black and formaldehyde. If you play with it, you need to wear gloves and preferably a mask so you do not breath in the dust that it creates.

    I'm a huge fan of the soap cutting and soap curl videos and the trick to it is having a soft buttery soap, like ones that are high in glycerin which makes the cutting safer and easier. Also you have to let the soap dry for a while to get at super crunchy effect on soap curls and easy knife cutting for later. Also it's great that you can reuse the soap.

    Microwave the soap till it’s soft but still firm and stays together. Then cut the lines. Let the soap firm up then microwave for five seconds and cut!

    Make your soap curls by using a cheese tool that makes curls (I think I don’t know what the tool is called) then freeze them for 3-5 hours for the best crunch!

    Tip for soap-cutting:
    Improve cutting technique by practicing. You should have a strong grip and easy control. (I cut apples with this technique)
    Soften the soap a bit by placing it in the microwave for a couple seconds or covering it in a wet warm towel.
    For crunch, leave it out to dry (the more days, the better).
    For the cubes, you don’t press the knife down on the soap, you glide it across the surface instead.
    Keep your other hand out the way, don’t let your other hand cover most of the surface as it’s very dangerous. Try by holding the other end of the soap but still quite firm so it doesn’t slip.

  • @Mimny
    @Mimny Před 5 lety +2

    9:20 "This DIY is safe and easy to do"
    Sure... sure... because most of the floral foams are made with plastic and fiberglass, and if you sniff the dust or if you rub your eyes after having contact with the dust is can cause micro scratches on your eyes or they can stick inside of your lungs
    I honestly see the plastic bubbles less dangerous than the floral foam, you need long exposition (like playing with those nonstop for like a month) to the chemicals of the bubbles to get damage, but with the floral foam you just need to sniff it to get it inside your lungs

    @sweetybee77 Před 5 lety +1

    Joanna, when you cut soap, you need to heat it up in the microwave by covering it with a damp paper towel. This with make the soap softer and easier to cut. When trying to make soap curls, heating up the soap also helps make the soap softer, making it easier to create curls. Once the soap cools off, it hardens back to normal creating crunchy soap curls. If the soap starts to get hard while cutting or making curls, just cover it back up with the damp paper towel and place it back in the microwave.

    You did the slime pressing wrong, try using the grate utensil and pull up as usual, then take the slime off, then crunch, do not press back down using the utensil

    Tip for soap cutting:
    Wet the soap a Lil bit
    That will make the soap a bit soft
