Apart from using the DIS booklet, transfers of shares from one Demat account to another, like most other transactions; can be done online now. These transfers are broadly categorized as intra-depository and inter-depository. India has two national depositories - NSDL and CDSL. An example of intra-depository transfer would be the transfers within NSDL accounts or CDSL accounts. If we were to transfer from accounts between these two depositories, that would be an inter-depository transfer.

I dont think that capital gains will be levied if a person transfers shares from one demat to his other demat account.

I think this is the misleading video or it’s incomplete.
The way you explained to transfer shares from NSDL TO CDSL via Speed-e is not working.
I suggest to shares proper details and not fool people.
Is the online transfer of shares from NSDL to CDSL possible or not?. Please, don't confuse viewers. I have also seen your CDSL to CDSL transfer video. It's also misleading.

I have reached to last step but few details were not shared in the video, can you please advice what should be updated in Market Type and Settlement Number in Settlement details section of Delivery Instruction Request. Also UCC details are mandatory to fill or Optional.

If the shares are going to be taxed as long term Gain Tax then what is the use of such an elaborate procedure.
Why not just sell shares from NSDL demat account and buy the same shares and same amount in CDSL demat account and pay LTCG tax???

& Transferred those share to shyam (brother) in 2021.
Now in 2023 shyam sell those shares then what will be the tax implication on ram & shyam in 2021 & 2023??

Thank for details, but transfer from CDSL to CDSL is easy. But when you do from NSDL your broker will not approve this and this go on pending i think they do this intenitally and there is no esclation path even if it is there it is not known to common people if you can throw some light on this " what to do if broker is not approving your request to trasfer" it will be of great help.

Update: for ndsl to cdsl transfer , if doing to Zerodha, you need to use Dis slip or closure cum transfer only. Speede does not work. Came to know from Zerodha Blr office.

the cdls has updated and added enity identifier na ot tm it is mandatory to select one to prceed with the transfer which one do we need to selct to transfer in our own account

I have account with ICICI Direct ( icici bank ) where DP is NSDL and i need to transfer to zerodha account where DP is CDSL.

@@isarthakghojage_9089 You have to enter CM BP ID of the people to whom you want to transfer shares. You ask them to provide their CM BP ID. They can get the CM BP IDs in their ' Contract note' sent by the broker to their registered email.
