    I love how people like you Omri said "is nothing special" and actually for me is a master piece those examples. Amazing like always! Thanks

    Prok Modules are wild, I use them all the time. But they're not for everyone.
    I'd add to the free recommendations the Befaco Percall, a perfect quad percussive envelope that can turn any sound into a drum sound.
    Also, a filter can make a fantastic kick. My favorite kick is the Zzzorb filter by Alright Devices (trigger into input, cutoff knob way down, bandpass out to one of the channels of an Instruo Tahn at 2 or 3 o'clock).

    You are an absolute star for doing this video. It is EXACTLY what I hoped for. I just picked up VCV Drums and the Prok collection. VCV Drums are pure quality. Not surprising with Vult developing them. Prok are wicked and really compliment. Will probably pick up the Hora collection as well

    Thanks Omri, as always a very good review. I own both the prok and the vcv drums. you can get quite a few really good modern drum sounds out of the prok collection. The VCV Drums are more traditional, but in that really good and full sounding. I really like them with a little bit of wave folding and compression in the mix.

    Thanks for this comparison Omri. I was planning on doing my own personal "mini" compare since I have all of them. From my use, I certainly agree with your assessment (pros/cons). I personally use them primarily for drums, in addition, been playing around with creating some from ground-up.

    another free collection perhaps worth mentioning is the Autodafe set - all sounds are sampled from famous machines!

    Im totally happy with the Vult Bass Drum Module but ya I'm definitely picking up the VCV and Prok collections, already have Hora, Prok is nuts

  • @GeorgeLocke

    I want to highlight one part of the prok collection: the DE "drum envelope." It's awesome, flexible, and probably my favorite envelope. It's basically a A-D envelope (no S stage) but with two D stages with independent decay rates that switch when the envelope reaches a specified level. (Also has built in VCA and CV inputs for all parameters.) The rest of the VCV-only Prok modules are great if you like to build your own drum sounds, but the DE module is just super.

    • @GeorgeLocke
      @GeorgeLocke Před 2 lety

      The main struggle with prok is finding sounds in the main modules.

    • @GeorgeLocke
      @GeorgeLocke Před 2 lety

      Another random note: several of prok's hihat models "open" and "close" on the Y axis.

      Yeah, the modules that come with the Prok collection are super unique.

    What do you think of the Autodafe Drum Kit? Does it sound similar to VCV DRUMS? Thank you very much!

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! Well, the Autodafe are playing back samples so they're not really the same. There are not many ways of controlling the sound. It's great for quick results but not as deep as the VCV ones.

    I feel like the Prok modules didn't really get a fair show in this video, sure they can be crazy but they can sound much deeper and more powerful than all the others in this video and this wasn't really explored.

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music Před 2 lety

      Well, yeah, I guess that this video is also my way of thinking about these three collections, and yes, you can use the Prok for traditional drums, but then you're missing out on all the other things you can do with them, that you cannot do with the other collections without adding a bunch of modules. The thing is, I really do believe that if you want to use drums in VCV, and experiment with drums, you should get all three because each has its own advantages. I love Prok, but never use them for traditional drums, to be honest.
