There is a wonderful movie called Fair Haven (two words) with Michael Grant and Josh Green, dir. Kerstin Karlhuber, that is all about the love we feel for each other and the constant static from people who "only want the best" for us, while they smother our true persons. Its about we country boys who find the love of our lives and nobody really knows. Anybody been there? I'd say all straight people should watch it until they get it, but I doubt they would get it, and that is the whole problem isn't it? That movie alone is worthy of a whole season of discussions.

I LOVE when Tyler said the (straight world) grooming hasn't had much effect. And I have also come to understand that the reason I have not built many relationships with people is because I keep myself to myself. Im not truly authentic and I can totally relate to what you say about that. I have some friends who I am out to, and one in particular I came out to immediately in college. And we just reunited after several years hiatus....and the best thing is that I can tell he truly loves me, as I do him. And he knows that I do too. He is straight. But said to me he thought that same sex should be together. Of course I agreed. I think I may have missed my cue there...I used to be a star at seizing the moment, but it came out of the blue and caught me off guard! He works with and for alot of gay people in New York, and sees how fun we are. He's the best friend I have and its because our now 27 year artistic collaborative relationship has been honest since day one. And yes, I would sleep with him if he wanted to. But I'm like you , Tyler...single person guy and always wanted to have a boyfriend...I have had them, but ....well life happened.

"I LOVE when Tyler said the (straight world) grooming hasn't had much effect." that;s because sexual orientation is biological and society cannot override biology. Biology, not society, dictates whether we are gender-typical or atypical, and the partners we are sexually attracted to. Attraction is the most accurate representation of a person’s true sexual orientation because identity and behavior can be context-dependent.
The association between sexual orientation and other gendered traits arises because all these traits differentiate under the influence of a common biological process-the sexual differentiation of the brain under the influence of sex hormones. The mind of the average gay individual is a patch work of gendered traits, some indistinguishable from same-sex peers, some shifted past way toward the other sex, and others typical of the other sex. Sexual orientation is an aspect of gender that emerges from the prenatal sexual differentiation of the brain. Whether a person ends up gay or straight depends in large part on how this process of biological differentiation goes forward, with the lead actors being genes, sex hormones and the brain systems that are influenced by them. The organisational effects of hormones on the brain prior to birth have permanent effects.
Neuroscientific studies have shown that the brains of lesbians are partially masculinized and gay mens partially feminized. Patterns of brain organisation appear similar between gay men and heterosexual women and between lesbian women and heterosexual men. Gay men appear, on average, more “female typical” in brain pattern responses and lesbian women are more “male typical”. Differences in brain organisation mean differences in psychology and study after study show differences in cognition between heterosexual and gay people. Gay mens brains are also structured like those of heterosexual females and lesbians structured similar to heterosexual mens.
It's believed that gay men, during some point in fetal life, were exposed to unusually low levels of androgens, which allowed their hypothalamic circuits to develop in a female-typical direction. If testosterone levels during a critical prenatal period are high , the brain is organized in such a way that the person is predisposed to become typically masculine in a variety of gendered traits, including sexual attraction to females. If testosterone levels are low during that same time period, the brain is organized in such a way that the person is predisposed to become typically feminine in gendered traits, including sexual attraction to males. Bisexuality might result from intermediate levels of testosterone or their brains responded to these hormones in different ways. Studies on different animals have shown changing the amount of testosterone that an animal is exposed to changes whether they are sexually interested in same-sex or opposite-sex mates or will be more male-typical or female-typical in behaviours. In animal homosexuality in females is attributed to an overabundance of male hormones - androgens - in the womb, while male homosexuality results from a lack of these.
Male homosexuality is no just an isolated trait but rather part of a package of gender variant traits, If a man inherits a few of these genes, he will have some feminine characteristics, which might include increased empathy and kindness, decreased aggressivness and the like, These genes increase his attractivness to women, permitting him more sexual access and thus offering him the likelihood of having more offspring. If a man inherits all of these genes, however, he will be feminized to the point of homosexuality, and his reproductive success will drop markedly. Because each feminizing gene is present in many more straight men than gay men it only has to raise each straight man's reproductive success by a small amount to compensate for the lowered reproductive success of gay men.
In all human societies across all cultures, uncivilised tribes and cavemen the vast majority of men and women are heterosexual because of biology. Social influences cannot override biology and the underlining preferences. An organism exists to propagate its genetic material, and this is the sole “meaning” of its existence.
Homosexual people have less fitness to reproduce(for obvious reasons because they are same sex attracted) that is not conducive for reproduction themselves, but science has many good theories on why they have still survived in the gene pool and how it's related to our survival and fitness of relatives to continue on the families genes and linage. for example genes being selected for female fecundity which have a byproduct of causing a certain amount of same sex behaviour among males, a sexually antagonistic effect. Their is also many other great theories and it's believed not all homosexual people are homosexual for the same reasons, but it's always about the survival and fitness of close relatives to carry on the genes and aids their relatives to reproduce more or have more reproductive success, although there is still no definitive answer. It might just be a normal variation( like intersex conditions are a natural biological variation even though most cannot reproduce) or different factors young maternal age, maternal weight gain, genetic conditions, sensitive immune system response to testosterone in women, and hormonal treatment during pregnancy. It could also be an epigenetic reaction to severe pre-natal stress. For example if a woman were to show signs and signals of some illness or health problem during pregnancy she is going to need that child to have more female typical traits to help with her and other offsprings survival.
Gendered interests are predicted by testosterone exposure in utero. Higher levels are associated with male-typical interests and behaviours, regardless of whether the baby is male or female. These include a preference for mechanically interesting objects and systemizing occupations in adulthood. Lower levels are associated with a preference for people orientated activities and occupations. stemming from evolutionary roots. Women. who are tasked with the role of bearing children, evolved to be more sociable, empathic, and people focused, while men, as hunter-gatherers, were rewarded for strong visuopatial skills and ability to build and use tools. This difference between children regarding preferences for people versus things is detectable within the first two days of life. Baby girls preferred looking at their caregivers’ faces and baby boys preferred looking at mechanical mobiles. The male superiority in mental rotation is evident by 3-5months of age. Difference in toy preference are evident at 3-8 months of age. Many of the sex differences exist widely across different countries and cultures, AND also gendered in non humans primates and other mammals.
In areas of personality, men rank higher than women on measures of assertiveness, competivness, aggressiveness, and independence(these getting things done traits are sometimes referred to collectively as instrumentality). In area of cognition, Men perform better than women at variety of visuospatial tasks such as mental rotation, targeting accuracy, and navigation. Women perform better than men at some memory tasks, including episodic memory verbal memory and memory of the locations of objects. They are also better at tests of verbal fluencyand some other verbal skills, face recognition, and behavioral tasks requiring fine hand movements. Women rank higher than men on measures of expressivness, sociability, empathy, openness to feelings, altruism and neuroticism. Men prefer thing-oriented activities and occupations whereas women prefer people-oriented activities and occupations Women have better developed aesthetic interests and less developed technological interests than men.
Gay men and lesbians are gender shifted in a variety of male favoring-visuospatial traits such as mental rotation, targeting, and navigation, as well as female-favouring tasks such as verbal fluency and object location memory. as well as female-favouring tasks such as verbal fluency and object location memory and also in instrumentailty, empathy, expressivness, and aesthetic/technological interests. They are probably going to be less likely to be in male-orientated and thing orientated occupations like construction, mechanic, engerneering and mathematics fields and other systemizing occupations etc Studies showed a major gender shift among gay men and women in the people-thing dimention, with gay mens interests shifted toward people like straight women and gay womens shifted towards things like heterosexual men. Studies have reported that gay men score higher than straight men on tests of empathy-a female favoring trait. Gay men and bisexual men also score higher on tests of aesthetic interest, another female favouring trait. Several studies have reported that gay men are less physically aggressive than heterosexual men and one of these found lesbians are more physically aggressive than heterosexual women.

Successful mating consists of attaining a partner with good genes so that one’s offspring will survive and be successful at passing on their lineage. A woman usually looks for signs of commitment and that a man has the means to provide for her and practical needs to also be met that will benefit her and her future offspring ensuring his or her survival. Women who made good mating choices were the ones who succeeded at passing on their genes. Individuals who are well adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce than those who are less well adapted. The mate preferences of one sex will determine the characteristics that are passed on in the other sex. Men’s behavior is, to some extent, the result of female sexual preferences. If women didn’t want to mate with masculine men, these traits would have been removed from the gene pool long ago. Our female ancestors preferred male partners who could offer physical protection to them and their young. Which is why greater height is seen as an attractive trait.
Because men are unable to tell, simply by looking at a woman, whether she is of high fertility and high reproductive value, heterosexual men(because homosexual mens brains are wired a bit differently) have evolved to prefer partners possessing observable qualities indicative of both high fertility (able to produce healthy offspring) and high reproductive value (able to have many children) breast, waist to hip ratio, houglass figure, youthful appearance, beautiful-possessing symmetry, smooth, clear skin, and shiny hair- full lips and high cheekbones are a sign of facial femininity, linked with higher levels of estrogen and fertility. etc.
Research has also shown on-average sex differences in brain activation during sexual arousal. When men and women are brought into the laboratory and are shown pornography during an fMRI scan, visual areas of the brain are more activated in men, and regions associated with inhibition and emotional processing are more activated in women. In one study, the nucleus accumbens, a brain region associated with feelings of pleasure, was shown to activate when straight men looked at attractive female faces.Earlier studies have found similar results for patterns of brain activity. For example, parts of the brain involved in reward and emotion are more strongly activated when straight men look at female faces, and when gay men see male faces. The same patterns apply when people smell chemicals that probably act as human pheromones.
estosterone is needed to “masculinize” a prenatal brain; if that doesn’t happen, the child will grow up to desire men. The same can be said for girls who experience high levels of testosterone exposure. As shown in girls with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, even if their parents give them more encouragement for playing with dolls, they will still prefer toys typical to boys because greater exposure to testosterone in utero is associated with male-typical interests. Rough-and-tumble play, which is behavior typically seen in little boys, is less common in gay men and more common in lesbian women, due to lesser and greater masculinization of the brain. Rough-and-tumble play, which is behavior typically seen in little boys, is less common in gay men and more common in lesbian women, due to lesser and greater masculinization of the brain.. Childhood gender nonconformity refers to sex-atypical behaviours, interests, hobbies, activity levels, and play partner preferences before the age of 12. 75% of boys demonstrating CGN will grow up to be gay or bisexual due to the prenatal environment and the extent to which hormones masculinized the developing brain.
No matter how much freedom a child is given, most will, time and time again, pick out gender-typical toys to play with and exhibit personality traits typical of their sex. If you try to force kids to play with opposite-sex toys when they prefer toys typical to their sex, they will be bored, or alternatively, will get creative. Boys, upon being given dolls, will swing them around mercilessly by the hair as though they are a weapon. Girls will arrange toy trucks into a family and tuck them into bed. A girl or boy who is gender-atypical will turn away from these cues if they're truly not interested. For gender-nonconforming kids who are bombarded with societal messaging about masculinity or femininity through movies and online games, they will say, “I don’t want to watch this,” or “I don’t want to play this,” and “Where are the ones for boys?” or "where are the ones for girls?" Gender-nonconforming girls and boys don’t need the world to tell them to be nonconforming; they will already be that way, from the moment they are born. social influences cannot override the underlying preferences themselves.
Different pathways can lead to homosexuality and some may be accompanied by a broader gender-nonconformity and others less so. All gay people have some gender-atypical traits( such as gay men are androphilic like most females and lesbians gynephilic like most males) but few have the entire package.
No one is 100% male typical or 100% female typical, but homosexual people are generally more atypical than heterosexual people. Gay men are shifted in a female direction compared with straight men, and lesbians are shifted in a male direction compared with straight women. These are only shifts and not complete gender reversals, and they don't affect every gender trait. Gay men have at least some gender atypical traits(some more than others) but few have the entire package. Gay people remain gender typical in a variety of traits, especially those related to sexuality, such as their interest in casual sex. Similarly not all straight people are completely gender typical either. Not all straight women are hyper feminine and some also have male-typical traits. Personality is not like a receipt where you put all the same ingredients in and all turn out the same way. Traits manifest themselves differently in individual people.
