I honestly would have been embarrassed to wear that at 16. Part of the fun of growing up and going out is looking like a grownup. Yet I see 60 year olds wearing this stuff. It looks like the maker did not want to pay for an adequate amount of material. If you have a rich fabric, you would want as much of it as possible. That said, there is an exception to every rule. I have a senior friend who wears tutus and combat boots and looks great. You have to find your own style, above all of these guidelines.

Being a mountain girl here in California, jeans are the norm around here. My exception would be though is jeans that are flattering, no tears, and some dark in color. And also we wear sweaters a lot here. I try to keep it a solid color and very soft fabric including cashmere. I do have one sweater in fair isle design and it’s not bold and in a dark color

I've always recommended my girls to wear silks or cool linens, you cant go wrong with high end materials with a beautiful cut to them, plus they aren't cringeworthy in10 years time when you're looking back over family photographs
