Patrode Recipe | Colocasia leaves | Traditional South Indian Dish Patrode | Pathrode

  • Patrode is a popular dish from the Karnataka region of South India, made using Colocasia leaves(kesu). It is a steamed snack that is savory, flavorful, and usually serve with a tsp of coconut oil on top of it (or a chutney) or make sweet patrode with tempering. Here's a recipe for making Patrode and how to serve patrode.
    ▶️ Patrode Ingredients (5-6 serving):
    Colocasia, a tropical plant commonly known as taro or elephant ear, is known by various names in different regions of India. Here are some of the Indian names for Colocasia:
    Arbi/Arvi/Kesu/Chembu/Patra/Kochu/Alu kand etc.
    10-12 Colocasia leaves
    2 cup raw rice
    1.5 cup grated coconut
    1 large lemon size tamarind
    1 large lemon size Jaggery
    8 whole Kashmiri red chili
    10 whole slightly spicy red chilli (adjust as per your spice level)
    2 tbsp urad dal
    1 tbsp chena dal
    1 tbsp toor dal
    1/2 tbsp jeera/cumin
    2 tablespoon coriander seeds
    Salt to taste
    Water as needed to grind
    👉Sweet patrode/uggerne Ingredients (3-4 servings)
    2 Cooled patrode
    1-2 tbsp OIL
    1tsp Mustard seeds
    1.5tsp Urad dal
    1 red chilli broken
    Few curry leaves
    1 -1.5cup Fresh grated coconut
    1 cup grated jaggery
    Salt to taste

      We GSBian konkani people from Udipi add only coconut red chillis tamarind and salt and moog or moog dal or rice according to one's choice and grind a bit coarse..I should try ur way of making patrode.
